I’m John from the Philippines and I’ve been a user for quite a few years. One of my big projects here is my project on the connection of the separate rail lines in Commonia. Right now, I’ve been working to link the previously separate rail lines in the southwestern territories, as well as by creating new railway stations. Right now, I’m working to connect the rail services in the West and East Cape regions and am planning to connect to the central parts of Duvar. A rail depot is now in operation south of Nueron Point in Brogen to serve local passenger trains and a freight terminal is being constructed in Dodgerstown to accomodate freight trains to the city ports. A connector line to bypass the central stations of Confluencia and link its north and south railway lines is now completed. As of present almost every major city in the southwestern coast of Commonia has a dedicated railway service. I’m also doing a line extention and expansion work in the northern areas to link with other rail lines already in place.
Here’s hoping every part of Commonia has a dedicated railway service.

The are plans to completely rework Commonia in the future (change it from an arnarchist begginers sandbox to an actual country), and hence it is recommended that mappers do not spend too much time on projects in Commonia. As much as I quite like Commonia’s current character, I think this is for the best. Your idea is good but I’d reccomend focussing on your own country or a collaborative territory.

Yes, don’t do any massive national infrastructure for Commonia, but you can go ahead as you wish.

Personally, I don’t think there’s any reason to avoid mapping in Commonia because of a vague plan of reworking it in an unspecified future. It would be a pity to give up on such a large area only to find out that no actual rework will occur in years. Anyone who is motivated to focus on Commonia should be encouraged to do so! I mean, do you stop cleaning your kitchen or mowing your lawn because you might move away at some point? Blue areas are subject to constant change anyway, the point of mapping them is not to create something that will last till doomsday but to have fun as we map.

@LemonKing This is a bit of a flawed analogy. To put it more accurately, its more like if you have a set of 100 unfinished houses, one of which is going to be demolished and rebuilt in the future. Why would you work on the one which is going to be demolished when there are 99 other buildings which need work? I am sure any of the other blue countries (except perhaps Gobrassanya) would hugely appreciate a wide scale railway rework. Building new railways in one of these other countries is not only a more managable and easier task but also may have a lasting impact which can be seen years in the future.

@MrOobling I get your point and it’s a good one.
But let me put it this way: some people may be inspired by Commonia in particular just because it it a mess. Some like cleaning up messes because they like the process itself, not so much because of the end result. Some feel more confident mapping in a disastrous area than in a neat, structured community project, where you need to be more careful not to interfere with other people’s visions. Some may even like the thought that the mapping is doomed to be destroyed at some point, so any grave mistakes can boldly be left uncorrected.
That said, I agree other territories need railway editing. But call should not be “don’t edit here”, but rather: “please help us here, we need you!”

Just allow people to map where they want. It’s clear that the John1985 has the intention of mapping railways in Commonia, and realistically there’s nothing stopping him. The same goes for all experienced users in Commonia. They all have logical motives, they know the consequences, so just trust their judgment.

Some do, some don’t. It’s important for people who want to draw something permanent to be aware that they should look elsewhere.
For those who enjoy working with pre-existing mapping and want to draw something lasting and long-term, there are a number of highly diverse territories to claim, that could benefit from some love and attention.

Well, Isleno, you can’t stop people who wants to have their way. (Unless you take drastic action and block them) Just keep Commonia open as long as possible and let them try to do some national mapping in Commonia, I mean there will be no harm. I hope whatever measures the admins wants to do for Commonia, it will be beneficial for all parties involved.
I thought of this proposal, why not in the clearing up we move some major infrastructure to other large reserved states if suitable. I wonder what is the future of the mapping in Commonia.
