Mecyna flooded?

Posted by KTheBritMC on 18 August 2020 in English (English)

Just logged on to see that my little town and the entire country of Mecyna has been flooded. It must have been done recently because some is still rendering in.

I have no idea how to fix this so can someone do it pls lol

This is not the place to report flooding.

It was automatically reported.

Also, you will notice from that map that your mapping is also breaking the coastline.

It was not you, but you have made many coastline errors. These are shown on the map linked above - it's really not hard to click on the link and zoom to your territory.

Harvard Fortress - there are FIVE ways sitting on top of each other here. Two are coastline which flow the WRONG WAY and can cause flooding of entire map. Coastline is NOT used for islands in inland water - relations are.

Hatton Island - again you have FIVE ways duplicated on top each other. One is coastline - incorrect - and going the wrong way clockwise - incorrect.

You have rivers flowing upstream, ...

If you continue this lack of attention to detail and poor mapping it will be you who will flood the map next time.

You also must stop using real world place names.

1) Sorry, didn't realise about the coastlines inland, I'll delete those for you. I thought it was weird that the layers were duplicating, I only did one so that must be the reason why they've duplicated.

2) What are you talking about with real world place names? Where are you supposed to be referring to? I based it off of the 'Ingerish' language.

And it would help if the wiki actually worked after I reported it almost a month ago and never received a reply so therefore I cannot view it!

A little humility please.

The first link loads the wiki page on coastline flooding, with an embedded map which highlights where you have broken the coastline. It loads.

Are you seriously taking people for idiots on the naming? Yarmouth, Sheerness, Isle of Sheppey, Shanklin, Margate, Ebbsfleet (with same naming of roads as real-world), Epworth, Byker, Greenhythe, Humberside, Haringey, Snow Hill, Havant, Lewisham, Gypsy Hill, Millwall, Selhurst, Richmond, Chipping Barnet, St Albans, Devon, Alexandria, Tottenham, Preston, Carnoustie, Manchester, Dartford, St David, Doncaster, ...

Some of those I will be not be changing - for example, Epworth and Byker I have never heard of and therefore they can't be that important.

What I don't get is why I am told that a town like Holtwquayhex is too 'fictional' but then I am told I can't use something like a so called 'real place name'. I'm going to run out of place names otherwise and if not, it will be copying the entire list of names from Ingerland.

I get where you are coming from but a bit of wiggle room would be nice please.

You could do a little bit of leg work and refer to the resources available...

And it is completely unacceptable to cluster names from the real-world next to each other in your territory. You have multiple examples of this.

1) Would help if the wiki worked, read the message I sent ages ago and the user diary that it concerned.

2) I am English, I know what my own country looks like thank you very much and I'd rather not be treated like a baby.

3) Some names have been changed, not all of them because then it will start looking like a fantasy world.

That name generator is helpful, thank you. But you just can't expect me to fix a load of stuff and expect me to be an expert on everything when I haven't even been here for a year.

This is a fictional world.
