OpenGeofiction
The Isle & City Games are my creation to provide a sporting arena for small nation states, city states and islands who wouldn’t be able to host a Geolympiad event and who aren’t all that competitive in the medals table.
Founded in 2000, the first ICG were in Myrcia in 2004. The games are bi-annual and take place in the spring, around late-April. The events are a scaled-down version of the Geolympics. The host nation selects 25 events to host which can range from sailing to decathlon to lacrosse.
Any nation of under 2 million can compete. Any city with a population of under 2 million can enter as a city team. Any semi-autonomous island or group of islands with a population of under 2 million can enter as an island team.
There will be no formal bidding process for the games as there are with the Geolympiads. There are seven available games from 2006-2018 available on the wiki page. You can claim these freely and use them to bring together your sporting facilities in a single city, island or small nation.
OOC
These games give me (and other mappers with smaller nations or islands) the chance to create scaled-down Geolympic-type facilities but they I don’t plan to go as in-depth with the sports or statistics as some people do here on OGF. If that would be something you’d enjoy then feel free to collaborate and edit the wiki pages.

This is a great idea. Since I have been obsessing on my city-state of Tárrases, it’s a perfect opportunity, too.

I like this idea. It gives users with smaller countries a stage on an international scale. I might have a submission for Agarderia’s team in the future as previously the civil war prevented any coherent entry to the games.
There may be a separate team for the Isle of Reyston but I think that might be a bit too small even for a place in the mini-geolympics.

Do you think it is ok to have semi-autonomous states competing? Like Puerto Rico, which is part of the US, but participates in international events by itself. If so, I’d like to inscribe the Brugas archipelago (which are a part of Neo Delta, but with great autonomy) in the Games!

Steran is way to small to host the games too, but it could participate to two or three events.

@Easky30 Carispoole looks perfect for an Isle & City Games. Can I suggest 2014? It will have been a couple of years after Samilmoor joined and fairly recent for any transport projects.

Here’s a question: if an unrecognised ‘rogue’ state, which in my case is Glastian Agarderia wanted to participate, could it enter the games? If you want more information aboitt political status and its history, I’m planning to make a diary entry on it soon.

@Yuanis - I’m not sure what would be most realistic? I don’t think the Myrcian-based ICGA is keen on getting in the middle of any big political disputes, Myrcia is averse to rubbing anyone up the wrong way.
That said any semi-autonomous region or even federal state or city can enter a team so if a ‘rogue’ state wanted to compete it could do so as a sub-national team. Of course there’s then a political debate over that but that is bound to happen.
