An update on Lunaris, the town I’ve opened as a sort of collaborative mini-project to see if the community could build a town together.
It seems to have grown a lot, a freeway has been added to the island for access apart from the railroad, many roads have been added, the railroad expanded into the city itself, a few parks and a meadow have been added, a lake: Lake Aquelle, has been added, along with so much more. Specifically, a football club, two supermarkets, a restaurant, hardware store, light house, hospital, courthouse, town hall, and even an elementary school have been added!
I can’t wait to see the city in the future, though why has there been minimal development in the Iterum-Vitae ruins?
Also, just a note, Lunaris is Latin in nature, not just strictly Roman-style Latin, Latin as a whole. Spanish, Portuguese, French, Italian, Romanian, feel free to style portions of the city after these cultures.
Cheers, Nomine.

I still maintain the position that a motorway isn’t necessary for an island with a low population.
The scale is skewed in some places.
I like the tram line but having a railway with a right angle is not realistic at all.
This is a good opportunity for new mappers to improve their mapping skills: railways need to have gentle curves so the train doesn’t derail!

Id love to contribute and/or improve upon what other people have made.

I agree with Thunderbird about the freeway (and the other things!) … unless this was an extremely densely-populated city (which it doesn’t look like), a freeway makes no sense.
There are also two rivers running coast-to-coast, but rivers don’t work like this (see Making realistic rivers). The coasts could be joined by a canal, but I can’t imagine why you would need a canal on such a small island.
I would also recommend some work on the coastline, to make it look more natural.

I updated the city and replaced one of the rivers by a stream coming down from a mountain. Also coastline update, railway, tram + misc fixes.

I’m the one who put in the freeway. I come from North Carolina. I’m used to my state’s obsession with rural freeways. I see what you mean about the town being too small. What if there is a bigger town on the mainland side of the bridge?
Comment from Interstate_85 on 28 December 2016 at 01:01
Also, the classification as motorway or freeway simply means that it cannot have driveways directly accessing it. It looks as if the bridge is still a 4-lane highway, so perhaps it should be classified as freeway.

Anyone editing this city can also develop another city nearby Lunacheng. It can be bigger than Lunaris

@Interstate_85: I understand rural motorways, and I also have an obsession with them. But they have to lead somewhere. Even in the US, there aren’t spur routes of interstates that lead to small towns of less than 10,000. Spur routes are only constructed when there is enough traffic to support it.
If Lunaris were between two much larger cities, it would make more sense to have an interstate running through. But the fact that it’s on an island means an interchange and a 1 mile drive is fine.

@Nomine: I made some ruins on the southern tip of the island. What do you think?

Thanks for letting me contribute!
I made my first update, I added a little art museum somewhere in the Lunaris Meadow (I think meadowlane or whatever ;P) it translates into “colorful collection”, or “happy heap”
I also made a bank, and it translated into “golden bank” (i hopefully used the right noun, it took me 10 minutes to translate)
Thats some small stuff i did, because i can hardly understand the complications of this AWESOME town.
Im new :P
Thx again, and bye4now! <3
