As I don’t use josm (computer problems), I would like if anyone could measure my city area as I would like to make my cities to population density accordingly. Yes some areas of my cities will have high population density (Paris, France) as everyone will live in apartments that are incredibly small there are 10-15 stories high, similar to central Paris. Their are only 2/10 districts where the majority of people live in houses. I just wanted to make a population density chart for all my major cities (over 100,000)- http://opengeofiction.net/wiki/index.php/Lallemand . In the OGF-wiki is a list of all polygones with the area in km² ( [http://opengeofiction.net/wiki/index.php/OGF:Area_table] ). You can sort this list, to find your “polygones”.

In order for your polygons to show up on the area table, the various boundary ways enclosing each city need to be grouped into a “relation,” as described here: OGF: Administrative boundaries
The process can be pretty difficult and tedious, so I made this for the cities you mentioned:

Personally, I like to use density to calculate population, rather than using population to calculate density.
What I mean by that is, density is a big part of what gives a city its “feel.” So, if you know what the area of the city is, then you can just multiply by your ideal density to calculate what the population is. I prefer do that, instead of dividing area by population to get density. But whatever works for you, go for it. :-)
