is there any kind of editor I can use for things like ferry routes and other large-scale things (National parks, large forests, rivers, maybe even some long motorways.) I’m just curious if there is because potlatch 2 doesn’t work for me and (As you probably know) the default one requires you to zoom in to 1,000 feet scale. is there anything I can do to make these things easier?

You can use JOSM, that’s handy for larger land areas.

use JOSM. i do small edits (cities/towns/villages) in iD and bigger edits/natural edits (rivers, mountains, etc) in JOSM

JOSM is really the best option if your computer can run it. You can set it to have Potlatch 2’s UI, and it works at any zoom (though you can only download a certain amount at a time).
