Today I decided to set Skalenia's time zone. I looked at various estimations of time zones in the (OGF) world. I settled on WUT +8:45 (WUT +8:30 for Saint-Pascal and surrounding islands) and from March 20th to October 15th, the whole country switches to WUT +9 for DST, which means a 15-minute leap for the mainland and a 30-minute leap for Saint-Pascal and vicinity. I posted this on User Diaries to see if my time zone proposition fits in with already existing time zones.

No idea about the zone, but no country would put up with the hassles of daylight saving for 15 minutes. L

@wangi I put up specific time zones because I want my country to be unique.

@zhenkang I saw about 3-4 world time maps. Some showed my country in the WUT +8 zone and some others showed my country in or near the WUT +9 zone, so that is why I settled on half and quarter hour time zones.

A 15 minute DST shift doesn't make your country unique, it makes it unrealistic. Have a look at:
It's the same lat/lon, in this case China at UTC+8. But lets use your proposed zones for illustration:
Giving zero of the normal benefits put forward for daylight savings.

You're kind of right. Would it work to have:
*WUT +8:30 without DST would be weird since Eshein is to my west but would be 30 minutes ahead of me...
*Stick with WUT +8 and follow DST
*Stick with WUT +8:30 and follow DST
*Stick with WUT +9 and follow DST

Baie-Ouest's real world co-ordinates are in China, just north of the North Korean border. I see that South Korea (west of Baie-Ouest) and Japan (on same longitude) both follow UTC +9. I think it would be best for me to have WUT +9 and follow DST (+10) from March 1 to October 31.

I'd say WUT+9 year round, no DST, and a single zone for the entire country.

Sounds good.
