National Airport Examples??

Posted by TheMapper27 on 16 September 2018 in French (Fran├žais)

Hello. I would like to build a regional/national airport near Konalmi, in the gap between Conosa and Lumsoll. I can't find any example of that certain type of airport, so do you guys know where I can find one?

hi on the internet there are many examples usually only consist of 1 or 2 tracks and would not be as big as one international

God examples so far in the OGF world includes Khaiwoon International Airport and the Gobras City World Port.

Anyway, how large is your country? Can I see the proposed location of the airport? Because if your nation is small and not in a strategic location, I have doubts for creating a large airport for your nation.

@zhenkang His country is called Skalenia.

I don't think for a nation like that it needs a large airport. Mergany would have played a part in creating airport hubs for the region.

The proposed airport is actually in Gobrassanya, not Skalenia. You would've understood if you read the entry correctly.

One was created 10km north just a couple of months ago, and discussed here.

He refers to regional airports, it's not a big international airport. I guess that's what he's trying to say.

Even then the number of airport needs a look.

I'd also be interested to see some smaller, regional airports represented. Dunwic's airport has shrunk significantly from how I first mapped it (from 4 runways to 1, from 3 terminals to 1) and it now fits in more with Myrcia's role as a small nation with a population of >1m

That said there are literally tens of thousands of airports in the world, many mapped in great detail on OSM. I find OSM is a much better source of inspiration and a better way to check realism etc than OGF.

I'm trying to think of some smaller airports I've flown to recently that might inspire you

@Myrcia: Having recently completed my move from suburban Seoul to rural Southeast Alaska, my local airport has gone from this:

@Luciano The last time I flew out of Seoul it was from Kimpo. Inchon was not built yet. Do they still use Kimpo?

@Easky - Kimpo is still active, call it Seoul's LaGuardia.

The most memorable thing about Incheon is that my family missed a flight there back home. Shouldnt have bought a morning ticket... It takes quite some time from Seoul to Incheon.

And it is quite large. So extra minutes for finding the check in counter.

About Gimpo, as far as I am concerned it is like a regional airport to me. It is much closer to Seoul; take line 5. My family got to Seoul from Jeju via Gimpo.

Hi, as said above, I'm the person that created Margenson Intl. airport, as a larger airport for charter airlines, I would say that having an regional airport is not really useful in the area. I would build some kind of very very small airstrip. Otherwise feel free to improve the area!

Suya Ahn is full of small airports, such as Ak Foan Kan Ro: https://opengeofiction.net/#map=15/-56.2134/78.8605

Dura Ahn Capital Airport (it's not a large city): https://opengeofiction.net/#map=16/-57.1213/79.1303

and Ban Ra Regional: https://opengeofiction.net/#map=16/-56.6459/79.6795

Each has only a single runway and a small terminal building.

Where I used to live on Long Island there were several airports within an or two drive from NYC. Most of them were originally for defense and built prior to and during WWII. Long Island MacArthurs has regular flights to Florida and is the largest between Nassau and Suffolk Counties. https://www.openstreetmap.org/#map=12/40.7903/-72.9605

I would like to think Gobras City is somewhat similar to New York City, just a little smaller. I would like to think that the Obenaai Airport is used mostly for executive flights and charters for major national / international golfing events next door at the national golf course. Similar to Republic near NYC and Bethpage. https://www.openstreetmap.org/#map=14/40.7302/-73.4197

East Prado Plains Air Base was originally a small airport turned into an air base for national defense and Gobrasair testing. Similar to Boeing Field outside Seatlle, WA https://www.openstreetmap.org/#map=14/47.5299/-122.3005

I drew Cavanhurst as a small single runway and then it took off from there. My intial idea was another air base training facility and very small aircraft. Similar to Floyd Bennett Field in Brooklyn, https://www.openstreetmap.org/#map=15/40.5938/-73.8834

These are the airports that I am responsible for or at least started. I thought about an Andrews AFB type base but Chicanapi to south should fill that role.

Where I live, in Cupertino, the closest airport we have is the Norman Y. Mineta San Jose International Airport. But I think so this is too big, so I recommend the Watsonville Municipal Airport instead.
