Copying/pasting others’ mapping, without their permission, has always been against the spirit of our site rules, “Be original” and “Be respectful.”
From today forward, copying other users’ mapping is also explicitly against the rules: “No copying others’ mapping, without their permission.”
If our multilingual users can take a moment to add this to the translations of the rules, under the “Be original” header, it would be much appreciated.

Dutch also reflects this additional rule now.

I updated German, French, Spanish, Russian and Romanian (yes, there is a Romanian About page I did some time ago and I’d love it to be featured in the Available Languages section on the English About page 😀 Thanks!)
Only language left to be updated is Chinese.

Good decision, I absolutely welcome it! On the other hand, if someone is interestested in some of my work, don’t hesitate to ask!
Was there any problem currently?

I have rectified the Chinese version. If there are any other Chinese speakers around, do not hesitate to correct me, as my Chinese is slightly choppy at times.

I think this rule is a very positive step: without it there was always that temptation - specially for beginners - to copy anything that looks good. Could a line also be added to the FAQ page, perhaps in the community section?

I’m totally in favor with this rule, but just to make sure that I fully understand what it actually entails, is this referring specifically to the physical copy and pasting of someone else’s work or does it also include looking at someone’s work and attempting to draw a “copy” of it in your country yourself without any copying and pasting? I know I’ve seen many users that copy blatantly with copying and pasting with no respect to the rules, but I know others who mean well who look at other mappers’ work and attempt to “copy” in drawing/mapping to get a realistic design for a similar area in their country.

This is aimed at actual copying/pasting. You can still create work that is ‘modeled after’ or ‘inspired by’ others’ mapping.
Many thanks to all for helping with translation. Romanian and Italian have been added to the language list, and I’ve also added a relevant question to the FAQ.

I absolutely welcome this. Good call.

@Yuanls. Shouldn’t original in Chinese be ‘独创的’, 而不是 ‘开源’?
I would have preferred: ‘除了有了另外个用户的同意, 请别抄别人画的地图.’
