Greetings, fellow mapper! On behalf of the OGF Transition Team, please be advised that OGF will be temporarily unavailable from Friday 27 August, through the weekend, returning on Monday 30 August. This downtime is necessary for server migration and necessary upgrades. As part of this downtime, we are asking all users to refrain from editing the map from during this time. Any edits you make or upload during this period may be lost. (JOSM users can still work offline, but please refrain from uploading until after your account is reactivated.)
This migration will allow us to move OGF to more stable servers with added capacity, which will allow us to:
Currently, we anticipate that no major data loss will occur: your OGF account and past edits will automatically carry over to the new server, with no action required on your part. On Monday, your password will be automatically reset. To reactivate your account, you will be asked to accept the updated Terms and Conditions before resetting your password. While we do anticipate a smooth transition, some bugs and hiccups are an inevitability. If you do come across any issues during this process, please do not hesitate to reach out to us. We are also anticipating migrating the OGF wiki the following weekend; be on the lookout for additional communication regarding that effort.
Looking forward to many more years of happy mapping,
-Mayor OGF Transition Team Communications Coordinator

I can’t believe it’s happening

What will happen to user diaries in the transition?

This is awesome! I’m so glad that iD is getting updated and the layers are coming back. I have a question: There have been more territory owners draw their own hand-drawn maps such as Huachachi’s Bako-Huz. Will the hand-drawn/Roantrta layer be updated/expanded? Thanks!

It’s a process - the initial focus this weekend in on the main mapping. Other aspects will then follow on from that,

With regards to the new renderer, amenity=embassy will be deprecated. Use office=diplomatic and diplomatic=embassy or consulate instead. - /c/

AMAZING. Finally OGF will work perfectly again. I wish that the coastline render problem gets fixed in the new server :) 🙂🙂

With regards to the renderer, how similar will it be to current OSM? I know that what we have now is quite far behind.

It’s great to hear this new information regarding the OGF server migration. Hopefully, OpenGeofiction will work again without any issues.

Will the “calculate route from A to B” option will be possible again? I remember using it to help myself map betterand it’s heen along time since it worked… (:

Addition: iD uses default background imaginary from OSM: Bing, Maxar, ESRI, etc. I think they should be changed to OGF tiles: mapnik, topo.

Hello there
I’m seeing the changes from the weekend. Beforehand, thank you very much to all the team!!!
One question is about that specific elements of my country are not visible on any scale or map, such as water bodies (lakes), forests and some buildings. (in JOSM, these elements are visible)
I would like to know if it is something transitory, and common, or is it something else.
