Realistic size...Need consultations!

Hello everyone / Bonjour tout le monde,

First post. I recently (not actually, it’s been a week…) claimed UL032 and decided to build a capital city anew. But I’m having problems with street block sizes.

Currently, the size is 200m*250m. I know this is a bit big but is it still reasonable? Places like Ottawa have 200m*100m block size I guess.

Thanks!

Austin

Salt Lake City has a 200m200m grid which is probably the largest for a major city (that is not subdivided further). I’d say 100m250m is more reasonable, you could just divide your blocks in half and add alleys within them: take a look at Melbourne for example.

If you just want to resize the entire grid, you could always do that using the scale function in JOSM. Or even create a perfect grid with parallel lines and evenly spaced streets, if that’s what you’re looking for.

Scale function sucks. Alley works.
