The constant flooding due to improper coastline editing is getting ridiculous. We need some kind of list, check, or sign in before they touch the coastline, so we know who did it and when. I understand noob mistakes, but honestly, people need to read the FAQ before going to town on the coastline with wreckless abandon, which effects all of our countries. Nothing grinds my gears more than seeing blue for 2-4 hours or until someone gets around to fixing it because people don’t READ instructions. The last person didn’t even bother connected the ways and left a big gap. PAY attention before you upload anything involving the coasts.

Indeed - bhj867 writes, what newbies had to do: read here in the user diaries and in the wiki the helpful information about the “natural = coastline” tag before work at this specific tag.

because of a node addition limit imposed by the OGF/OSM servers/editing software, coastlines have to be broken and multiple ways the more detailed it becomes. this sometimes results in flooding. i’d like to apologize on the behalf of everyone who has run into this and caused flooding unknowingly as a result.
