Just a small sidenote- huge thanks to Azaz 0913 and Bstn for creating the railway line template. It’s one of my favorite features on Wikipedia and I’m so glad we have it here now. Keep up the good work, gents!

I agree that if it can be gotten to work well, it’s a great idea.
But so far… does it work? It seems incomplete.
About a year ago I made my own attempt, using materials from Italian wikipedia (because I was able to find documentation adequate to figuring out which templates and icons to upload, not because I know Italian well).
I used the pieces of this template for my “Line 1” and “Line 21” pages for RUTA (Ardisphere). I kind of dropped the project, however.

It might be a work in progress, but it’s definitely going better than if I were to do it. (Which is not that hard to achieve, but hey. It counts. To me.)

@eklas - Agreed, completely. If someone can figure it all out and getting it working well, I would be very grateful. I had given it up as beyond my wikification abilities.

I just corrected a little writing mistake. :) All the thanks have to go to Azaz, importing all the stuff to OGF.
In fact I made my first attempts with the new template, the (Gobras City-Omissino Bend Railway)[http://opengeofiction.net/wiki/index.php/Gobras_City-Omissino_Bend_Railway]. The template seems to be complicated but I found a very useful wikipedia site to show you all the “blocks” you need: (Wikipedia link)[https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Route_diagram_template/Catalog_of_pictograms]. If you scroll down the site, you’ll see a box containing all the different elements you need for creating a railway course. I needed 2h to find into the structure.
It works very well, but I found out that the wiki was unreachable (at least for me) the next up to 1h after saving the edits. Complete opengeofiction.net seemed to be unreachable. Did you experience any issues after my edits (visible in recent changes list)?

I did, on friday (aug 5) afternoon CEST, I was trying to upload some edits in Drahns and JOSM would just be stuck “opening the changeset”. I kept trying until it started working after like 30 minutes, so nothing serious really.
Anyways I figured out there’s a system behind the pictograms’ names. Shouldn’t be that hard then!

Just found out that - at least for me - it is browser dependant wheter you can see the railroad course template or not. In Vivaldi, everything got shown correctly, while in Firefox only the description was displayed.
