Loads of available time

Posted by kingfries on 18 March 2020 in English (English)

So... What are your plans on OGF now that everyone has got more time on their (washed!) hands? I plan to keep myself busy with loads of detailing on the island I've worked on, maybe rearrange some parts a bit. Add details like trees, benches, mailboxes, stores and facilities, take a good luck at the road network and if any logic mistakes like wrong directioned one-way streets happened. Gonna see if I get to do any real progress now. Maybe lay out some rough sketch of history/placenames etc. aswell. And you?

Stay safe folks!

Sadly, I am now in the army now serving my two years of National Service, and all things are still rather calm in Singapore, with talks of a general election (still a bit too young to vote).

However, I have some plans, including doing up a topo map for the whole of Kuehong, and maybe the whole peninsula in the future if my neighbours are up to it. But what I have been doing now is to take some stuff from Meilan and integrate it into the urban areas. Hopefully, once I have done with the topo (which may take at least six months at the rate it is going). At the same time, I am also slowly opening up Kuehong for foreign trade, investments and diplomacy, but need to develop the key urban areas first.

Besides Kuehong, I have also decided to book a vacation to the Niulutic Islands, incorporating a new script. However, beyond plans to change the existing names on the map, I don't really have much planned in mind to be honest, though I hope to probably work on the capital soon and on some of the islands. Take it as a side-Kuehong state investment on the islands.

Schools in California, especially Santa Clara and San Francisco Counties, may close until fall, meaning that we may have a six-month break. While I do have a lot of free time, I am not allowed to stay stuck on a device mapping out an insignificant town which won't "affect my life." Anyways, I have put myself on a task to read books (yay..!) for half-of-the-day because we have nothing to do, really; so why not utilize the time?

Just so you know— Santa Clara County has more than 60 cases. School officials shut school when it hit 60 cases in a thousand-mile squared county.

It may not sound like much, but when half of the working population are white-collar workers, then you interact with everyone in the office. The risk increases after the population of SC County is revealed— nearly two million. And people aren't confined to one place, are they? People come from all over the Bay Area for work, like Pleasanton, Menlo Park, Fremont... The government should really enforce such rules to limit the spread of the COVID-19. I've heard that in New Jersey that they have initiated a curfew.

It's about time they told us to stay home.

Well... school is out for the next month, so I'll certainly have free time. I'm planning on getting some work in Arghenna done, particularly with the coastal regions and on the border with New Carnaby. I'll also be practicing for my upcoming Piano Recital (I'm doing another Scriabin peice).

I've been doing a lot with street grid detailing, franchise/supermarket/bank/pharmacy placement, and subway-stop-adding in Wallawaukee, Brighston, Ellenwood, and surrounding suburbs. And working on graphic design stuff for the Wallawaukee metro and other offline maps like the City of Ellenwood bus system

The university where I work is having all staff work from home for the duration, however long that may be. Less of a commute is nice, however! I'll be working on some suburbs in Culpepper and rural areas in Blorland County, New Carnaby when I'm not busy with writing, pontificating, and doing librarian stuff.

Same here. Campus closed, I'm only allowed in for 200% necessary work or technical troubleshooting (some medical research obviously continues). Rest is via teleconferencing things which I absolutely hate. I've set a not-too ambitious goal of detailing 10% of 'my' FSA (Susans southern neighbour) state this month. And my garden might see me more frequent - which it really will appreciate.

We have a 'soft' lockdown here, which is okay for the moment. My main concern - serious - is toilet paper. Shop are packed with food, even fresh, no problem. All but 3 items: liquid soap, paracetamol and toilet paper. WTF ?

I came back after a year-long hiatus, I'm a lot older and mature compared to myself a few years back when I started. Now that schools in Ontario have given us a month-long break and possibly more if the virus spreads further, I decided to start mapping again.

I had unclaimed my old territory about half a year ago and now I submitted a request for 2 small atolls a few days ago to create a small tropical "nation" which I plan to develop into possibly a resort on the smaller atoll similar to Bora Bora. The larger atoll will have influence from the atolls and islands of French Polynesia.

Still waiting on approval from admins and in the meantime, I've been working on an island in Commonia to hone my skills.

@Marcello

You are incredibly lucky to reside close to stores packed with food. Unfortunately, because SC County is heavily populated, stores like Costco have only two or three locations, and most stores are EMPTY. No toilet paper, no food, no nothing. Fortunately, my parents went to Costco at the correct time when most of the store was restocked and the lines were incredibly short.
