Okay, so i’m extremely curious about the ogf’s world’s history, and not a lot is written about the days before humans. What roamed the OGF world? What did it look like?
I have one map i made of what i think the OGF pangea would look like

Plate tectonics has been a recurrent subject of the OGF diaries and wiki so far. Interesting but so complex than it should be considered when the OGF assignation of countries would be more developed. However adding tour purpose to the discussion page on the wiki or at the forum is up to you.

I think we will have to completely ignore any in-depth study of OGF natural history. There’s just simply not enough global consensus and co-ordination for plate tectonics. We can probably have snippets of wiki information here and there but otherwise I don’t think it’ll be realistic to co-ordinate such a project. We must appreciate that country owners always have different interests, and some ignore Earth Science altogether.
Furthermore, what does creating a Pangea achieve? We’re just digging a bigger hole for ourselves. There is really no way that flora and fauna identical to the types we see on Earth ever could have even evolved, let alone distributed themselves in the way we see them in the OGF world. Just the mere alignment and size of the continents would produce a completely different geological, therefore environmental, therefore evolutionary timeline.
The OGF world was not designed with this kind of science in mind, and it never would have worked if it was. Localised geological history is all well and good, but anything larger than that will just raise more questions than answers.

@yuanls yeah I agree with the science part. I also dont see the need for a pangea of OGF, but I like the effort.
Speaking of science, I remember raising an issue of how possibly the chem elements on the periodic table are named in the OGF. I mean we dont have an Einstein for Einsteinium, a Uranus for Uranium and Poland for polonium.

And yeah it was a silly discussion; but maybe in the future the talk of how Science is developed in OGF can be explained. For no,w we need countries who have quite some investments in scienc first…

@YuanIs, I disagree about the fact that we should not do earth science too. Yes, this might lead to overwikification, but it makes the map more interesting and connects the countries closer. We also get a closer look in the OGF World history, like India, which used to be an island and now is located in Asia.
It supports the fact that there used to be structures that were used before something happened to the tectonic plates, in example, earthquakes or shifts.

@iEarth I feel that this is not top priority now, but it is still an important discussion. There is a time and place for everything, so whatever about science we can talk about in the future.

There’s a definite problem of not developing plate tectonics in OGF - the realism of the map. Not doing this means that individual countries may be realistic, but the world isn’t. The decision seems to have been made already and there’s not much point coming back to it again. It does kind of defeat the point of trying to collaborate on a global scale, but it’s a compromise between freedom to map what you want where you want and constraints that lead to realism. We can’t have both.
