Hello!

Posted by realTomHolland on 22 May 2020 in English (English).

Hi! Im a fairly new user. I have already acquired my first country, Margüela.

I would like for someone to take a look at my first two cities (Catalina and Tarifa) and give a commentary or tips on how to map on them.

I would also like to ask if there is a way to know who made specific countries, because I want to contact several people around the gulf my country is located in.

Another thing I have in mind is if there is any way to make the editing map any bigger, since it only lets you edit at around -400m scale. This would be to build highways.

Thanks for any feedback! -Tom

Also, you can use the inspect tool (? button on the right of the map) and click on a way within the neighbouring country to see who edited it. In owned territories, this tend to be the owner of the territory.

To edit a larger part of the map, use JOSM, which also comes with convenient tools such as angle snapping and circle drawing.

Now to suggestions:

  • South of Catalina, this residential neighbourhood seems to have problems: You shouldn’t use straight corners for streets (it looks like a maze), and you want to keep at least 50m distance between streets. You can refer to Samunta, Gobrassanya for a beachside residential area.
  • You should use full names for streets at all times (e.g. you need to add “Calle” prefix at all times).
  • Roads lack curves. Add some decorations. Also JOSM could help.

Layout seems good, although I can’t comment much without buildings… I’d say you’re on your way to success. Enjoy!

May it be that your cliffs show in the wrong direction? Correction is easy: only change the direction of the way.

@austinhuang in Argentina they dont include Calle, look at Argentinean cities. The user is Argentinean and possibly mirrors that.

I agree with austinhuang. I also propose to change names:

  • Catalina to Santa Catalina (a proper name like that looks weird)
  • Tarifa: it already exists in my country and it’s a wellknown place because it’s the southern city in mailand Spain.

Everyone here have made great points. Another way you can see who owns a certain territory is to go to the Overview Map on the wiki. Overview Map
