OpenGeofiction Tutorial for Beginners proposal

Posted by theruler on 22 February 2020 in English (English)

Hello everyone. I have this idea for beginners in OpenGeofiction that when they first create their account, they get shown a tutorial. This shows them a few rules, a little info, and a map with the blue territories in them. I hope this makes it clear for them on how OGF works without having to click on the wiki which they probably don't know too much of. I hope this reduces the risk of out-of-the-blue mapping and reduces i-don't-know beginners.

This video/gif shows how I would imagine doing such a thing. I hope it proves much help. I'm up for creating it.

This would certainly help a lot. As with the case with me, and many other mappers, when we first visited Opengeofiction, we didn't really pay attention and started editing in random spots. This would really help guide new mappers to the correct editing spots, and it also shows the rules. It would be an excellent addition!

Anything that would help new mappers would be great. I like this idea.

Good idea. I think my first mapping was in some random country that, as a coincidence, was blue (at least I think so, don't @ me). It would certainly help new users. On another note, it should also tell which languages to map in, etc. Maybe there will be a new wave of blue countries (I heard Gobrassanya is getting purple)
