A reminder on world floods

Posted by tom_m7 on 17 April 2015 in English.

In the event of a continent (or multiple continents) flooding - a result of rendering errors caused by faulty coastline ways and nodes, click here to visit the coastline info page, which highlights coastline nodes that can potentially cause rendering problems, and click here to see Thilo’s diary entry about fixing coastlines. These two links will help in fixing “floods”.

I would also like to add that Luciano made a page on the OGF wiki about making sure that the coastline ways that border your country don’t cause rendering problems (floods).

If you’re not clear on what you need to do to fix coastlines or maintain your coastline’s “integrity”, please visit the links above.

Thanks in advance.

Tom

EDIT 6:12p PDT: Also remember that coastlines update on the map every ~4 hours, so your edits to the coastline may not appear right away.

Hooooooold on a minute.

I’m confused. Since when is there a new landmass? What are (going to be) the policies for claiming this new territory (when it becomes available - I’m assuming it isn’t yet since I don’t see it on the overview map)?

Apologies if I sound mad (I’m surprised, not angry) and/or if there’s supposed to be a post about this and I wasn’t supposed to bring this up… even though it’s been mentioned already.

Happy New Year!

Posted by tom_m7 on 2 January 2015 in English.

I know this is really, really late, but I was going to do it beforehand anyway.

I wish all of the members of OpenGeofiction a happy new year. Let’s hope that 2015 is a great year and that a lot of progress is made in all aspects of the project without too much bumpiness. There are still a lot of topics and areas that haven’t been thought about much, so let’s also hope progress is made in that way. I should also add we should hope for the well being of everyone. Cheers!

Wind

While reading Rasmus Rasmusson’s Introduction to Řots post, I realized that I haven’t thought about wind directions that much when mapping my country when Rasmus mentioned his friend advising him to think about wind directions when building an industrial zone in order to not make the capital city too smelly. Has anyone thought about wind directions much in the community?
