Coastline node problem

Posted by tom_m7 on 25 October 2014 in English.

So. A few minutes ago, I tried to refine my coastline south of one of the areas that I have developed in my country:

and this error came up when I tried to save:

How can I get around this error and be able to add nodes to my coastline without splitting the way and potentially running into a rendering error?

Thanks in advance

Edit: Uletha, Archanta, and Tarephia flooded about 10 minutes after I saved the edit. Woo.

Edit: Akinyaka is flooded now

You have to split the way, there’s no method to avoid that. As long as the end node of one way is the starting node of the other, there won’t be a rendering problem.

Alright, I’ll try that right now. Thanks for your help!

Agree, you have to split the way. And then, yes, you get to cause massive floods as you try to get your coastline correct. I went through a steep learning process on this, but eventually I’ve gotten confident in setting up multiple-way coastlines, and now I do it even more than required by the 2000 node limit, to keep the coastal segments manageable. Just part of the learning process, I think.

Well, that isn’t very reassuring, but hopefully I’ll get it right someday. I joined the coastline back together and I split it in a different area; hopefully Akinyaka renders correctly now.
