About my may mappers challenge

Posted by tparigo on 10 June 2016 in English (English)

Hi mappers,

For my may mappers challenge, i decided to detail central Troie. Mapping speaking, i am still in may. Here

I focused on the old city and a northern/central district and some parks.

I wanted this city to have

*a complex geography and topography. I didn't want to make a "flat city" with a linear coast.

*a not rationnal city and not perfect city,

*a rich historical and cultural background. I hope a part of the city history can be read on the map.

As a port, Troie has many foreigners communities. So if you want to open a consulate and/or a cultural center in Troie, just contact me. If you want to include a community from your country in the history of Troie, contact me, we'll define a neighborhood and some historical background.

Happy mapping !

Not only is the map great, the wiki article deserves kudos as well!

Thank you for placing the Ataraxian consulate in Vieux Troie. I think it would be interesting to have had some interaction between our countries throughout history, with an Ataraxian community in Troie and Broceliande communities in a few cities in Ataraxia. A few of my cities were also 'Free Cities' as I see Troie was until 1790.

Congrats again!

Even BEFORE the challenge, Troie was one of the best-mapped spots in OGF. And now even better. Your attention to detail is enviable. Great work!

Wow - I loved Troie already - and the extra detail just adds more. Vieux Troie - would you say 'un rayon de miel'? The hills (you don't need countours to appreciate them) with their stairs, elevators, funiculars. I'd love to visit. Somehow the whole place just feels 'sunny'. And I'm even starting to like the Greek myth theme! I don't know if links between our countries will be possible, though, all my places are very much 'poor relations' - perhaps I can come up with something, an artwork, or something valuable displayed in one of your great museums. Palais Grassi? But maybe my countries art isn't what you're after. The wiki is good too - but would you like a native english speaker to smooth out the minor errors? I'd be happy to help.

By the way, would you comment on the Shadze-Ma diary entry? - would be good to get a bit more feedback. You really packed in the buildings in your urban areas - perhaps I need a few more there? I also appreciate the way you've incorporated the parks and the green spaces into the landuse patterns. That is attention to detail.

Wow, that's an amazingly good city! I thought I was looking at an OSM map of a real city for a second there.

So mind-boggling in the detail, you can really get lost in the city! Truly outstanding mapping!

I love it. So much detail - how I so like to make such details and different streets, parks and places like this. Good job on your part, tparigo
