Basically, you download and open Maperitive. Then you clear the map and open a *.osm file.
You get the *.osm file when you save data in JOSM.

If this is still about your meter vs. regular-tram-diary-entry from last time: You need to tag the corresponding trams with gauge=* where *= the gauge in milimeters. After that you can set up an ruleset in maperative and import the data you want to render.

My point is, how to make these rulesets? For example, I’ve tried to create a ruleset for a map to show districts of a city, and it worked for borders, but I couldn’t make it display names, even if I used text: [[name]].
Is there some kind of guide to creating rulesets or do I have to figure it out on my own?
