Not going to create it, but if someone else was to make it, Drabantia would sure participate. It might be a problem because the countries here are often isolated and cooperation is hard.

If someone will create for Tarephia (and Antarephia ?), then Latina will participate.

I admire the idea, but I think the OGF world already has a problem with too many motorways and personally I wouldn’t want to encourage more.

I’d echo isleño. Plus not sure there’s sufficient coverage in the countries anyway for a true network as yet.

Now that I think of it, OGF does indeed have a lot of highways. But I don’t want to encourage building more, or anything similar. I just thought of a numbering system for international roads.

If some of my neighbors create it for Uletha, then Belphenia will participate. Maydien will participate too if someone will create the network in Antarephia (?).

A continental railway network would also be useful and there’s no problem with too many tracks.

A Continental Railway Network along the southwestern coast of Tarephia from Nature through Freedemia and Narghana through to Latina would be very helpful in my opinion.

I don’t really see the need for an international motorway system unless it’s in a very dense part of Uletha or Archanta or something or a unifying of neighboring country’s systems. Freedemia has good motorways to Nature and Narghana but I regret making a motorway link to Omniville, which never really developed the way I’d hoped. It really should be based more off of 1) need and 2) neighboring countries, as to not have roadways going nowhere or interstate-style motorways that no one is going to use.

I feel the best way to think about motorways specifically connecting between countries might be the North American model, not the European model: when there are large cities near the border (ex. Detroit and Windsor, Niagra Falls, [both between US and Canada] El Paso and Ciudad Juarez [between US and Mexico]), motorways connect to said city and then meet somewhere at the border. If there’s nothing near the border or that needs to be connected on the other side of the border, however, I would think there isn’t as much of a need unless the countries have really close trade or travel relations.

I don’t know of any large place other than the Gobras Peninsula (and Khaiwoon if they ever build that bridge) that are dense enough and connected enough to have a unified motorway system. Freedemia and Nature do technically share a motorway system, but not to the same extreme.

It works different in Europe. Nearly all countries are connected with highways. This is mainly because countries are much smaller in size than USA.

Comment from Ernestpkirby on 15 September 2016 at 06:27

I know, but that’s my point. The OGF world isn’t dense enough to need anything near the scale of the European system. There are very few areas that have enough of a dense “European Union” region that would truly fit with such a network. Maybe some reasonable border crossings may be in order (hence the comparisons to the only places that needed them between U.S. and Canada due to low density) but I can’t think of anywhere other than the region surrounding Gobrassanya and maybe some other parts of Uletha or Archanta that actually has that density to make a network as massive as what Europe has. Maybe once more countries move in and older ones develop more if by that point the overuse of highways problem is fixed.

Perhaps I should have clarified and said “I feel the best way to think about motorways specifically connecting between countries in OGF”. Considering we already seem to have too many motorways perhaps we should stick to a case by case basis and just try to connect where it makes sense. Anything more than that will likely encourage random freeways to places that don’t need them just to continue the system.

@tule00 I get where you’re coming from though, I’m sorry if it wasn’t clear what I meant. It’s not a bad idea, I just don’t think the OGF world in its current state is ready for something like that, and may not be for a very long time.

Comment from tule00 on 16 September 2016 at 18:32

I agree on OGF not being ready for such a thing, but “The OGF world isn’t dense enough” isn’t always true. If you make a country as dense as USA, that’s fine. But my Reeland, as well as many other countries, are quite similar to those in Europe. And I didn’t want the system to be western Germany-dense, but rather Hungary-dense.

Comment from Ernestpkirby on 17 September 2016 at 20:40

Once again I think I fail to phrase myself properly. I’m really sorry. :P My point wasn’t about individual countries and the road density within them, it was more about connecting internationally to other countries as part of a larger network. There are plenty of dense European style countries. But if there’s a giant empty, undermapped, or unclaimed country between them, it seems like it wouldn’t be an cohesive system until the country in between is fully developed.

For example, Reeland looks great, and is somewhat surrounded by several other well- developed countries, such as Wiwaxia, Pasundan-Padjadjaran, Ataraxia, and Kojo. All of these countries would go well to have an integrated network, perhaps one of the best locations on the OGF map- except, the country directly beneath you separating you from the other nations has very… basic highways? is that a good way to phrase it?… and to fully make a cohesive network connecting Reeland to Ataraxia and Kojo, it seems like it would first need that unidentified neighbor to fix up his or her nation’s entire motorway system. Likewise, Belphenia, another awesome well developed country that could use such a system, is separated from Reeland by an entire region of unclaimed or barely-developed territories.

What I meant by density was not so much talking about the amount of roads, but more the amount of mapping and development on the map, in the sense of “Is this road connecting developed areas? Would the creation of this road require it to go through an underdeveloped or unclaimed territory?” It just seems like at this point it would further complicate things to try and make a cohesive numbering system when some of the countries (like Reeland) that seem the most ripe for such a system are isolated from so many other great countries by territories that are mostly undeveloped. It’s definitely possible, but it would definitely get very complicated very fast and require an immense amount of collaboration across multiple borders.
