I edited a section of my country yesterday and the map is refusing to load the content I edited at lower zoom levels, such as on the level of country. Is there a problem with the server at the moment?

This is the area I am talking about. It is refusing to load the new content between levels 7 and 8. Anything below 8 is old data.

Hi, a new capital in Riko is in the development. It is a coastal city, with a canal that reaches to the Central Ocean. I have problem with naming this city. I follow the trend and ask for suggestions for a new name of this capital.

The name has to be english/ingerish, as I have had a colonial past with Ingerland. An easy and fast name (6-8 letters) like “London”, would be perfect but it has to be original. Maybe something referring to the city’s location. However, a too generic name would make it less real. (ᵔᴥᵔ)

(don’t mind if the new coast isn’t updated ^_^)

The third largest city of my country was called “Pern” so far, which I never really liked, because it sounds like a stupid mixture between “Bern” (capital city of Switzerland) and the Russian city of “Perm”.

Now I have renamed it to “Preburg” (at least within the wiki), which sounds nice, I think - but it’s a quite boring name. So: do you have any suggestions for a nice German name for the city? I want “P” as the first letter. :) The rest is completely open. But it has to be a nice name, adapted to an important large city with almost 2 million inhabitants.

For some reason an entire section of beach in Vandover just stopped rendering. It’s still there properly in the editor, but it wont show on the map. Other beaches around it work just fine. Any idea why?

Hello all,

Sorry for the lack of progress on the Karolia move and cleaning up its former location. This is coming up to a rather busy time of year so I’m not sure I will have much time for editing for a few weeks, probably until the second/third week of December. I’ve not forgotten what I need to do though.

I did however have time to get some pictures of a little something I created - in real life - during the past holidays. It’s the national football team jersey of Karolia and pictures are here:

Enjoy! I wish I could make these to order for anyone who wanted one, but I don’t think so. However if you look at my earlier creation, the blue Santjana Linna shirt, there are some instructions on how I did this, so if you want to have a go at your own design…

Here are the names I’m considering so far:

• Easterland (it is on the east part of Archanta)
• The Sand Republic (since the beaches seem to be the most prevalent feature so far)
• Pinkland (in the vein of Greenland, Iceland, etc in the real world… no real basis for it, and a bit off-the-wall)

Any other ideas? Are these all usable names? Do they all stink?

The map has a new rendering. In general, it appears as though every road has moved up a level in color. My city is composed of mostly tertiary roads, and it looks ugly with this rendering. Is there a setting to change how it looks?

Igwepir was one of my first cities. You all said that I started it well.

Now I’m working on the city, especially focused on trams. Originally, it had 1 way for 2 team tracks and 1 node for the whole intersection. A while ago, I started studying maps of German cities and their tram networks, and since Reeland should be a lot like Germany, I tried modifying and expanding not just trams, but the whole city, to look like a German city.

Major changes are:

• every tram track is a separate way

• many more avenues (dual carriageway streets/streets with a median) and less normal roads

So, what do you think?

I am going on the mapping process of two cites :

Belleville (http://opengeofiction.net/#map=13/-17.5823/20.7416) where i redesigned the southern and eastern district to make it more realistic. The city also has a metro network of 4 lines. When finished it should be a 1 million inhabitants city.

Troie (http://opengeofiction.net/#map=13/-17.8392/21.4234) now has an international airport and a new harbor. I try to keep the topography realistic which is the hardest ! The mapping of the two there cities in the Troie metropolitan area should start soon (Charleville and Sansévérina).

Each city has now its wiki page which i’ll try to complete.

Should draw 2 tram tracks next to each other be drawn as one? On OSM they’re usually drawn separately and in the OSM wiki it says “In some places each tram tracks is mapped separately and in some places two tracks are together mapped as a single railway=tram line.”

So, what is more convenient in your opinion?

In response to my last diary entry, I have successfully found a path for the Line 4 branch. To be called Line 12, it will run along line 4’s tracks from downtown Quentinsburgh out to the Eastbrown turn, then it continues straight into Northcross following the BRT route, and eventually merging with line 3 tracks in Northcross itself.

However, it may end up with a unique type of service. Line 12 is being considered as the first ever line that runs fully express from downtown to the branch off from line 4, then running local to the end.

Why? Well, Line 4 is one of the few lines with express service from downtown Quentinsburgh. However, on the section closest to downtown line 4 runs with line 2, both very busy lines running local. If line 12 was added running local, the local tracks would likely be overcrowded in downtown. By allowing line 12 to be express only within most of the urban area, line 4 gets more express service and line 12 doesn’t overcrowd.

This is the biggest change in the QUARTA system since the line 1-line 7 switch.

So far all of the redrawing of the subway lines and retail in Quentinsburgh is going smoothly, as are other projects around the metropolitan area.

As for the QUARTA metro (subway), so far I’ve been able to redraw the tracks for every single line except the eastern portion of Line 5, (as far as I realize) which may end up taking a slightly different route near the Geolympiad Complex anyway (possibly merging with the 4 for a Geolympiad complex station?). Platform work is still in progress. When all is said and done one will be able to tell what trains stop where including express just by looking at the map, and routes like 2 and 3 which originally ended short will have been fully extended.

(On a side note, I made several major freeways toll roads in Quentinsburgh, including most of U-7 within city limits, U-104 and U-204, and there are plans to make a branch of QLine route 4 to go into Northcross, which may become route 12 or route 4B, depending on exact route, and a modification of the BRT to go on Greendale Meadows Rd and Franklin Hill Rd. I will likely make a news article about these improvements soon.)

Retail is a larger project. I discovered that not only was my retail way too big with malls and such- since they were too big, there was still too little retail. I’ve fixed most of the larger malls (Huxtable Towne, Grand Sq, Freeman Sq, Freedemia Sq, Hinespoint, Matherspark Towne, Southtown, Stanley Shop Ctr, etc) except Northcross’ malls, Tortoise Hills Mall and Beaver Point Mall, but it’s going to take longer for me to be able to go in and fix the smaller strip malls, supermarkets, fast food restaurants, gas stations, etc, most of which are still too few and too big. Areas like Capital West/Christian in North Quentinsburgh, the areas around Huxtable Towne and Stanley Shop Ctr and now even Matherspark have seen immense improvement though.

Following discussion with a few of you, I’ve finally got around to creating a wiki of the historical wars, conflicts and revolts our countries have suffered from. It has to be said that we appear a lot more civilised that the real world is!

However, in the interests of bringing countries alive - and this is all it is - I would like to suggest to you all that the world is the war it is today partly because of the way conflicts have shaped us. Unless people here have been expanding into areas where no-one has ever been before - and there must be places like that - there will surely have been conflicts between one tribe and another tribe, and between one nation and another. Whether you speak the same language or entirely different ones, there will have been times in history when people disagreed, or maybe things were just better in one country than in another, and people wanted to take it away. And what about the civil wars that caused so many nations to turn out the way they have, with one sector of the population having more power than another. How did your country manage to sort that out, when the one next door has gone the other way?

Whatever your position, please realise that the conflicts wiki is not intended to be a place to promote one form of government or ideology over another, but to help bring countries alive and help them fit into a bigger OGF picture. Feel free to put any ideas there.

I’m now developping the towns of Rotshoek and Hogerwater in my country Durië.

Rotshoek is a beach town at the start of a cliff coast. It will be developped chronologically. It is now in the 1960s.

Hogerwater is a former industrial town and now part of the city of Oten-Kravedal. The railway line has gone from ground level to a tunnel, a former industrial area is now a modern city center and the motorway is now going around the town.

On this 6th day of November, 2015 the Free Republic of Jefferson was founded! The government is libertarian, with a lot of freedom for the people. There will be much more to come!

The people of Jefferson would love to trade with other countries! Look forward to hearing from them soon!
