I’m planning on naming it the Lia Republic after a tranditional lianese flower that is a status symbol to long lasting happiness. I’ve created a Lianese language on Conworkshop here I’ve been looking at Orano for a bit and seeing what territory there would fit the lia republic.

so i recently got my new territory. its ID is AR054, however, i have not decided on a name yet. so is there any tips you have? also, i have been reading the wiki too.

Hello everybody, my last diary entry was quite a while ago, and a lot has been going on since.

I left my island this week, because I was feeling a bit claustrophobic in it, but I kept some of my work I cared for.

I merged the work I did on my ex-capital and another city to create Sedina, that will be the second biggest city of Vilvetia. To help merge all the parts I transfered, that nearly all had a coastline before, I dabbled with the idea of a delta, with the rivers branches creating the “border” I needed to blend them with one another.

Vilvetia will be quite forested and mountainous in the south-east, with the exeception of one or two valleys that would be drained by a big rivers, and that would have become quite populated as it would be a route to Ascot, my eastern neighbor. The coasts would be quite populated as well, and a lot of the country will be farmlands or Jungle, as the mountains would retain most of the water inside Vilvetia

I will try to post here more often, if the occasion arises, but until then, Happy mapping everyone

I thought about space and OGF and the moon, and i made a handcrafted OGF-Earth with the Moon and the Sun, and i have some proposals for planet names:

5. Iris (Jupiter IRL)
6. Minerva (Saturn IRL)

So i’ve always wondered, how is the topograhic projections made in TopoMap? Many differerent territories have this beautiful projections and it makes me kinda envious.

How do you do it, and is it hard?

Archanta has been flooded with water? I have recently shifted my nation’s coastline, only by about 10 meters to add more detail. I am wondering what causes the floods. I don’t want to cause this again. I am wondering if it was me that caused this? How do I change the coastline without flooding?

Hello all. On the tropical island of Tanay, I want to ask you whether the mountain range/forest cover that I put there is realistic at all for such an island.   Before I get started the Mostock Area Project just west of Hybrid Springs has been both fun and stressful.  I know what shape I want  these areas to be but I literally struggle with naming areas and roads. And yes, I have resorted to the real world for help. 
 One of the biggest rules of Opengeofiction is to always have a creative name, but I struggle in that department. I have always liked designing maps that probably would never come to life but at that stage I could imagine the name of roads and what the shield would look like, But recently it has all been coming to a halt. And here's a few examples of the real world coming to my OGF mapping.

Route A1A, Mostock, Watamak, Commonia: Surrey St. In real life, Surrey St serves as a spur route to LA 728 in Lafayette, LA.

Route 339, Loxley, Watamak, Commonia: Chemin Agreadable RD. In real life, Chemin Agreadable serves as the SPUR Route for LA 339 in Youngsville, LA.

Route 99, Slavuytch, Watamak, Commonia: Caffery St. Otherwise in the real world as Ambassador Caffery PKWY (LA 3073) in Lafayette Parish, LA.

Route 89E and onward, Mostock and Slavuytch, Watamak, Commonia: Kaliste Saloom Rd. Serves as unsigned LA 3095 in Lafayette, LA.

Loxely: Name based off of Loxely, Alabama. Slavutych: Name based off of Slavuytch, Kyiv Oblast, Ukraine. Volga: River in Russia. Duga: Radar in the Chernobyl Zone……

I could go on and on, but the list would be the longest thing ever. If you have any comments, Go right ahead, I am open to criticism and we are all friends here….

Ketonha Island Republic, most notably for its biggest city, Kia’Wana (also the capital) has decided to establish its borders and form its own Island Territory. Siy’aho Beach, the southern most city on Kamora Island, lies approx 8 miles (13 KM) from the shores of Commonia. The growing cities on the chain of islands have grown independent and a vote that took place across the islands, including Acora Island, Fulton Island, Kamora Island and Kia’wana Island decided the fate of the Island State. Acora Village, a small gated village that comprises of 98% of the islands population, voted 100% in favor of independence. The border follows from the north eastern corner of Laugar to the south eastern corner stretching to just south of the corner of Kamora Island. A further vote will be held to decide the governor of the territory. It has been stated numerous times that it doesn’t wish to break ties with Charlington and doesn’t present hostility, just a wish for independence that a majority of the population feel is needed.

From Blank Slate to Metropolis in 28 Days

It already feels like it’s been months since the City Sprint, but no—just a week and a half has passed! In that time I’ve continued working on Al-Kaza’s capital city, Canan-Yar. Rather than writing a bliki post, I decided to introduce the city to the wider community in the diaries, since…well, no one comments on bliki posts anymore. 😅

The gif above is actually from right after the sprint ended, so it only shows the progress that was made during the 28 days of February. Since then I’ve continued to build out detailed building cover in the downtown area, and have now finished the Esas Borsa (the CBD) and the Istasyon Semt (Station District) and am about two-thirds of the way through the Sivil Daire (Civic Circle), which is the main center of operations for both the city and the federal governments.

Good morning. I thought about cleaning my territory Mordeto (AN148) and restart with it. The admins told me that I can make it by using JOSM, but i don’t know how to use it. Can anyone help me telling me how to do it?? Thanks

Hey everyone,

As you know, most countries in OGF have maritime boundaries, but they are not consistent with tagging. There are typically 4 variants:

1. boundary=administrative and admin_level=2 (like regular boundaries)
2. boundary=administrative and maritime=yes
3. boundary=administrative, maritime=yes and admin_level=2
4. boundary=maritime and border_type=territorial (I personally used this one)

However, according to OSM standards, I propose that we all start to use this one:

boundary=administrative, admin_level=2, maritime=yes and border_type=territorial.

This will be very useful for consistency, and it also prevents the maritime boundaries from rendering at low zoom levels (which makes the map clearer and better-looking).

I’m sure most people on OGF have at least heard of the World News Center, but, if you haven’t, it was a database aimed at reporting emerging/breaking news all around the OGF World. But, as I look, the site is rarely updated, and only by the same few reporters. Also, I cannot find a way to edit in this site, so I’m not sure as to why OGF has dropped the name from its main site’s top taskbar and forgotten about it. Soo… yea. This sounds a bit odd, but trust me, you’d probably understand it when i’m done writing. Soo, just quick, a logographic script is a script that is based of pictures, logos. It is pretty much like egyptian hieroglyphs, but here i want to create a twist.

So there should be a common understanding OGF “language” that all, even those who aren’t good at English, could learn: Here i want to show you:
