Is there a Photobucket type site where we can upload photos and use them in OFF? I’ve probably taken some 1,000 photos of I-17 & Sedona, Arizona. Not to mention the thousands I have taken around N.Y. I figure someone could use them and there’s no copyright issues. Meteor Crater & Grand Canyon tomorrow so my OFF edits will probably have a desert theme for a while when I come back on.

You could upload them to Wikimedia Commons or to (if it exists) an American version of Geograph. That way the images are in the public domain under a CC license and can be used by OGF wiki if people choose to.
What would not be a good idea would be to upload dozens or hundreds of photos to OGF wiki that don’t have a specific purpose. Photos uploaded to OGF wiki should specifically reference some place or thing in the OGF universe, it’s not really somewhere to upload large numbers of personal photos.

I was thinking more like if someone needed desert photos the could grab some of mine for their articles and I needed some thing tropical for Gobrassanya someone else could post those.

Okay but if I wanted photos for Myrcia I could pick from hundreds of thousands on Wikimedia Commons or Geograph rather than the ones you have to offer. I’m not saying no-one wants your photos, just that there’s no need to upload them to an OGF-specific depository. Put them in the public domain somewhere and let us know the link.

These days I was just thinking the same: I take some photos in Rio de Janeiro because the oil rig I work is dry docking right in front of the city, in Niterói, other side of Baía de Guanabara, and maybe some pics would have some use in OGF.
My idea (to me) is creating a sandbox page with all the pics I upload, including that ones I consider “good ones” but I did not use in any article - or did not use yet, hehe. I will not flood OGF with thousands of pictures, but it can be usefull to other users too.

I agree that we don’t want tons of random photos uploaded to the OGF wiki. And I don’t think we want people to start creating photo sharing sandboxes either… because if enough people do so, then it could add up to thousands of photos.
But it would be easy for someone to create a wiki page that lists links to OGF users’ photo collections on various photo sharing websites. How about “OGF:Photo resources” or something? Each link could be accompanied by a note detailing what kinds of photos the user has uploaded there, and specifying what CC license they are being released under.
