Territory requests are currently on indefinite hold.
This is not your fault, nor anyone else’s fault. It’s just the way things are right now.
As has been pointed out, “No one has ever died waiting for an imaginary territory.”
Please be patient.

Hello, MOI N! I know that people sometimes get irritated about the fact that Isleño has ‘disappeared’ for some time. I have also been waiting for territory, but while you are waiting, maybe you could join a collaboration with other mappers. This, for me, has made me forget about the territory which I want and make me more interested in collaborating. Maybe you could try, too!

When I requested for a 2nd country two weeks ago admin shunned me out also. But I think recently he’s been quite quiet. You might just have to be patient with him. He could be just taking a break, or working on a busy project.
If he doesn’t answer, try asking him in the summer. That’s when he let me get a country and when he could answer.

How about mapping in a blue territory? When you get allocated your territory, you can (if desired) transfer it.

Honestly. Just wait 6 more months and continue planning your territory. Or just sign up for a purple territory. Also spend more time in blue nations as well and continue mapping. Your mapping, at the moment, isnt of quality yet.

Thank you for the advice austin. Crenru is focused primary on city building since I want my population to get to 10 million. However, I need more topography details than a forest here and there and a desert. I might hold back on a second country request until the country has the appropriate land use.

@zhenkang Please be more understanding when new users post entries asking totally reasonable questions given that their requests are being ignored. It’s not like everyone’s getting an auto-generated email saying that things are on indefinite hold, and the option to request a territory hasn’t been removed while this is the case. I’ve noticed that whenever this question has been posted, your responses have been quite rude. It doesn’t hurt for us to be polite to new users in explaining what’s going on.

To be honest, we should just stop accepting new registrations to the site until this situation has been resolved: while it won’t do any good for those already waiting, it’ll keep the bathtub that is OGF from overflowing because of how clogged it is with requests: it’s like shutting the tap off.

@louis_walker agreed. It never hurts to be kind. For all I know, Isleño has a perfectly logical and urgent reason to be absent from OGF. I don’t blame the new users for asking these questions, because the person who normally provides the answers is not available. Keep in mind that the new users join with an ambition to map their own country. They take what the wiki says as Bible (the user is allowed to request a territory 7 days after joining the site), and expect that what the wiki says is going to be put into effect, kind of like a rulebook. MOI N joined AFTER Isleño went on his hiatus, so how was MOI N supposed to know that Isleño can’t handle the request because he probably has some important real-world business to attend to.

It’s just as important to be welcoming and courteous as it is to keep the mapping as professional and clean as possible. Be kind, be respectful. I felt like this when I signed up for this site, and the community was unbelievably accommodating and kind with their responses. What happened?

You don’t have to respond, you can just ignore such requests.
The user diaries aren’t well suited to browsing, or searching, it’s not much of a surprise there are repeated requests. That’s also why the forums are a better place for the more experienced users to have a discussion.

Well, the previous commenter can safely be ignored, methinks. It’s a pity that the allocation of territories has come to dominate these diaries, to the detriment of other topics. The reason for this delay just needs to be accepted, and this reason been made clear in the FAQ. I really hope, though, that this will be resolved ASAP.

While I also get tired of seeing this thread every week, the fact that this is still an issue is very concerning. I appreciate that the admin has a life outside of this website, but indefinitely turning territory allocation off does not make the situation better. Inactivity is part of any online community, but without a stream of new, excited users coming in it inevitably leads to atrophy of the site as a whole.
I don’t have the answers and I’m relatively new here myself, but I do hope this situation gets resolved in some way soon.

Which is why I suggest that we disable registrations to this site altogether: that way, it’ll stop further newcomers from applying for a territory and then complaining after several months that they didn’t get their territory.
Once the backlog is cleared, then they can turn registrations back on.

Working together in a collaborative territory undoubtely leads to an improvement of mapping skills, a lower temporary mappers / total mappers ratio and increases knowledge about other countries of the OGF world before starting a new fictional nation. As in real life, a good starting point is to learn and then apply your new mapping skills to your own work… when you have reach that goal. As we said in Castilea Archantea: “Primer caminar i després còrrer” (first walking and then running).

What if the fact that we have a bunch of users making sockpuppet accounts is one of the reasons why territory grants have been on hold? Just sayin’…

Speaking about sockuppets, I rather if admin discuss with the user to merge all his accounts into one, instead of banning him. Because, it will be a waste of talent to ban those who have mapped with certain quality. Then again, sockpuppeting is also pretty serious, so I prefer if admins just discuss with the user first, send a stern warning before banning him/her from the OGF universe.
Not all users read the rules carefully as well. When they got banned for other violations (e.g. vandalism in other nations), they may panic and set up another one. This in turn banned the user altogether after admins did a brief check.
And for all newbies, I suggest yall just sign up for collaboration around the world, whether it is official collabs like Antigo (socialist totaliterian state mapping), Niulutan-Riu (rather islands and tropics mapping), Khaiwoon (urban mapping) and the Southern Islands (Antarctica mapping). Or other unofficials like Elhadia (South African mapping) or Omniville/Buildtion (General UK and urban mapping)

I still find that there are still other parts in Khaiwoon to be detailed. Such as some of the outer neighbourhoods. The metro stations can be detailed as well. So in short, I doubt Khaiwoon is that closed yet.

Oh I thought by a closed project means the project is closed, as in it may be de-purplised like the case of Ardisphere.
Anyway, althought I live in Singapore and have some experience in mapping such a nation, I will not join in. (Plus other personal issues with the leading collaborator) And neither will I create another clone of Singapore/Hong Kong. I will only say Khaiwoon is successful due to its small size and having nice experienced active mappers in there.

Khaiwoon is one of the first projects, realisized here in OGF. Years ago. So in some aspects it has the “charme of old days”. I think, Khaiwoon not should to be touched, til islenio says something to this city. Khaiwoon should be sheltered from unexpected changings!

I hear the frustration here on the part of users who have been waiting for so long.
This situation has lasted too long. I was lucky to get my country in under the wire but this is going to lead to new users up and leaving. Admins: please have someone else take over country assignments or choose a new admin who can.
