I have been floating an idea in my head to create a basic how-to on site development and I am curious to know how many of you would be interested in something like this.

Hello Mappers!

I am inviting experienced mappers to help with developing New Berles in Drevet into a ‘showcase city’ to encourage collaboration in Drevet and in other parts of the world.

The goal is to establish a small-medium sized city of 250,000 to 300,000 people with a small harbor and a regional/small international airport. The city center was established in the 18th Century and pre-dates modern urban planning.

This project can be broken into smaller chunks. However, work on the historical center, or suburban towns must be the first piece of this project taken on.

I am ready to open Drevet to a small number of collaborators to work out any possible issues with the collaboration platform. If anyone is interested in one of the jobs listed in the Collaboration Page, please send me a message with a job you are interested in. I will open collaboration to the first 3 mappers who apply.

Hello everyone!

My countries are located on the edge of a desert. I am interested in finding a way to identify a region within the desert where sand dunes are generally/typically located. Since dunes often travel, using a ‘mountain’ marker would not be suitable.

Thoughts?

Since OGF’s world history is often retroactive and spotty, why not use countries (and their wiki pages) that have been abandoned as sources of ancient history or ‘lost civilizations’?

For instance, before Picard was removed, I speculated that some of their culture migrated across Tarephia into Drevet & Wustesonne (my territories). Just like in real-world history, civilizations rise and fall all the time. So, whomever claims what was Picard, they could either make references to the previous country in their history or forge their own backstory.

I am in the process of rebuilding Drevet. No outside editors will be allowed until otherwise noted.

I created a rough map of possible plates and faults in our world.

I have not studied geology. I drew these lines based on the shapes of the landmasses. If anyone wants to clean this up or improve on this idea, feel free! I named the plates based on the continents. Some of the smaller plates are named after a randomly chosen country.

The arrows represent the possible movement of the plates.

Evening everyone,

After some advice from fellow mappers. I decided to change Vienna’s name.

Vienna is now Wustesonne (meaning ‘Desert Sun’)

Will I be able to just change the country’s name on the Wiki, or will there need to be a new page?

I was wondering if there is a possibility of an ‘international business directory’. I guess it would work similar to inviting others to build embassies in your nation.

I am starting an experiment, allowing people to add buildings to Vienna. I am opening the Flintsville area for outside development. If anyone is interested in building, you MUST apply to me first.

For more information, please read ‘Vienna to Allow Foreign Developers’ in the World News.

Basically, I will be allowing people to build homes, businesses, industrial sites, and so on within the Flintsville area. If I deem this trial period a success, I may possibly open other areas for development.

Hello Everybody! Sorry I have been away from mapping for a while, but I am back again!

I have been trying to compare my city to other cities (real and OGF) to see how my streets match up, but a problem I am constantly running into is the scales between maps not matching up perfectly. When comparing the Petersburgh area to Gobras City and Columbus, OH (with OpenStreetMap), the scales don’t match, which makes it difficult for me to gauge whether or not I should add or remove streets.

If anyone would like to look at Petersburgh and offer suggestions, particularly with the suburbs in the southern part of the region, I would appreciate it!

Hello, if you wish to have an Embassy in Vienna here is what you need to know:

-Embassies are permitted to be built on W. Anderson Street in St. John’s City between S. Broad Street and S. River Boulevard

-The size of your Embassy should be limited to 1/4, 1/2 or 1 whole block of W. Anderson Street. Only 1/4 and 1/2 block Embassies are allowed between S. 4th Street W. and S. 6th Street W.

-The size of your Embassy should be dependent on two criteria: 1.) The number of visitors from your country and 2.) The relationship you intend to have with Vienna

So, if you have a small population in your country, don’t take a whole block. Or, if your government doesn’t wish to be closely allied to Vienna.

-You are allowed to build your own Embassy in Vienna, keep in mind that you MUST NOT alter the streets, buildings or anyone else’s Embassies

VOLKMAN PROTESTS ENGULF PETERSBURGH

PETERSBURGH- Following the revelation that North Vienna Governor Charles Volkman is directly related to the dictator Sasuke Volkman, protests between native Belphenians and Viennites have plagued Downtown Petersburgh. Thousands have taken to the North Vienna District Capitol to show support and protest against Charles Volkman. Protesters say that the grandson of a dictator is not fit to hold public office, while supporters argue that the actions of Volkman’s grandfather does reflect the younger’s administration.

The Volkman issue has also reopened old wounds between Belphenia and Vienna. During Drevet’s colonial period, the region was populated by a majority of Jehovah’s Witnesses. However, in the 1850’s, Baptists began coming to the colony. This resulted in a series of religious riots between the two sects. The tipping point came in 1857 when the ship ‘Vienna’, carrying over 400 Baptists was detained in Marshall and subsequently set ablaze by angered Jehovah’s Witnesses, killing most of the passengers.

Are the Volkman protests really about one man’s heritage? Or is it a convenient trigger for unrest?

VIENNA GOVERNMENT TO BEGIN EXPLORATORY DRILLING

LANDRYTOWN- The Department of Agriculture and Natural Resources announced that it will begin exploring eastern Osceola and southern Behrbergen. The DANR says they are primarily interested in oil and other precious materials like gold, coal, and uranium or plutonium.

The government currently imports uranium fuel rods to supply the North Vienna Nuclear Power Station. Unless Vienna can ratify trade deals with other countries, Drevet could deny goods destined for Vienna at Port Arlington.

The government is very interested in finding oil in the Cactus Range, doing so could make Vienna a major economic power.

SOUTH VIENNA-

CAPITOL ANNOUNCEMENT

St. John’s City has been selected as the official capital of Vienna, construction is nearing completion on the government buildings. Although Petersburgh was the obvious choice, St. John’s City was designed in hopes of becoming the capital of Drevet. The inaugural ceremony for the new capitol is scheduled for June 1.

NORTH VIENNA-

DOT, PETERSBURGH ANNOUNCE NEW TRUCK RESTRICTIONS

The Department of Transportation and the City of Petersburgh have put into effect new truck restrictions for the downtown area. The new restrictions are as follows:

Trucks over 8 tires, including ALL articulated trucks, are prohibited in the area bounded by;

Mark Harmon Blvd (P-178), M-91 and Northern Blvd

All over-sized loads are prohibited through the S-Curve, between Main and Market Street.

OSCEOLA-

M-91 COULD GET HIGHER SPEED LIMIT

The M-91 could see an 80 mile per hour speed limit. The DOT cited the limited development between Darlington Hwy and East Landrytown Rd.
