I have been trying to compare my city to other cities (real and OGF) to see how my streets match up, but a problem I am constantly running into is the scales between maps not matching up perfectly. When comparing the Petersburgh area to Gobras City and Columbus, OH (with OpenStreetMap), the scales don’t match, which makes it difficult for me to gauge whether or not I should add or remove streets.

If anyone would like to look at Petersburgh and offer suggestions, particularly with the suburbs in the southern part of the region, I would appreciate it!

Hello, if you wish to have an Embassy in Vienna here is what you need to know:

-Embassies are permitted to be built on W. Anderson Street in St. John’s City between S. Broad Street and S. River Boulevard

-The size of your Embassy should be limited to 1/4, 1/2 or 1 whole block of W. Anderson Street. Only 1/4 and 1/2 block Embassies are allowed between S. 4th Street W. and S. 6th Street W.

-The size of your Embassy should be dependent on two criteria: 1.) The number of visitors from your country and 2.) The relationship you intend to have with Vienna

So, if you have a small population in your country, don’t take a whole block. Or, if your government doesn’t wish to be closely allied to Vienna.

-You are allowed to build your own Embassy in Vienna, keep in mind that you MUST NOT alter the streets, buildings or anyone else’s Embassies

VOLKMAN PROTESTS ENGULF PETERSBURGH

PETERSBURGH- Following the revelation that North Vienna Governor Charles Volkman is directly related to the dictator Sasuke Volkman, protests between native Belphenians and Viennites have plagued Downtown Petersburgh. Thousands have taken to the North Vienna District Capitol to show support and protest against Charles Volkman. Protesters say that the grandson of a dictator is not fit to hold public office, while supporters argue that the actions of Volkman’s grandfather does reflect the younger’s administration.

The Volkman issue has also reopened old wounds between Belphenia and Vienna. During Drevet’s colonial period, the region was populated by a majority of Jehovah’s Witnesses. However, in the 1850’s, Baptists began coming to the colony. This resulted in a series of religious riots between the two sects. The tipping point came in 1857 when the ship ‘Vienna’, carrying over 400 Baptists was detained in Marshall and subsequently set ablaze by angered Jehovah’s Witnesses, killing most of the passengers.

Are the Volkman protests really about one man’s heritage? Or is it a convenient trigger for unrest?

VIENNA GOVERNMENT TO BEGIN EXPLORATORY DRILLING

LANDRYTOWN- The Department of Agriculture and Natural Resources announced that it will begin exploring eastern Osceola and southern Behrbergen. The DANR says they are primarily interested in oil and other precious materials like gold, coal, and uranium or plutonium.

The government currently imports uranium fuel rods to supply the North Vienna Nuclear Power Station. Unless Vienna can ratify trade deals with other countries, Drevet could deny goods destined for Vienna at Port Arlington.

The government is very interested in finding oil in the Cactus Range, doing so could make Vienna a major economic power.

CAPITOL ANNOUNCEMENT

St. John’s City has been selected as the official capital of Vienna, construction is nearing completion on the government buildings. Although Petersburgh was the obvious choice, St. John’s City was designed in hopes of becoming the capital of Drevet. The inaugural ceremony for the new capitol is scheduled for June 1.

NORTH VIENNA-

DOT, PETERSBURGH ANNOUNCE NEW TRUCK RESTRICTIONS

The Department of Transportation and the City of Petersburgh have put into effect new truck restrictions for the downtown area. The new restrictions are as follows:

Trucks over 8 tires, including ALL articulated trucks, are prohibited in the area bounded by;

Mark Harmon Blvd (P-178), M-91 and Northern Blvd

All over-sized loads are prohibited through the S-Curve, between Main and Market Street.

OSCEOLA-

M-91 COULD GET HIGHER SPEED LIMIT

The M-91 could see an 80 mile per hour speed limit. The DOT cited the limited development between Darlington Hwy and East Landrytown Rd.

THE FUTURE OF VIENNA

As the infant nation struggles with it’s vision for the future, important questions are being raised about where Vienna is headed. Among the concerns that Viennites have is a startling revelation that could have disastrous consequences for the young country.

Vienna is currently being lead co-equally by the governors of the four districts who are:

Suzanne Nakata of Osceola, Greg Dewitt of Behrbergen, Oliver Rowland of South Vienna, and Charles Volkman of North Vienna.

After extensive research, KPBG 2 has discovered that North Vienna’s governor, Charles Volkman, is the grandson of Sasuke Volkman. Sasuke Volkman has been labeled as the worst dictator in history, being directly responsible for the death of millions of Belphenians during the darkness of his rule. It is believed that Sasuke Volkman evacuated much of his family from Belphenia after 2005.

Charles Volkman has refused to comment on his lineage.

The younger Volkman, along with being the governor of North Vienna, is the head of the Socialist Party. Since Vienna’s independence, Volkman has worked to consolidate Vienna’s government, expanding healthcare, and promote the district as a tourist and business destination. Within the interim government, Charles Volkman has also legalized recreational and medical marijuana, same-sex marriage, and is negotiating with the other 3 governors about legalizing gambling. All of this is in stark contrast with Belphenia’s strict Theocratic Government and Drevet’s Belphenian influenced government.

A spokesperson for the interim government told KPBG 2 that Vienna will press forward with or without Drevet and Belphenia and the two countries must accept our legitimacy regardless of who is in charge.

In other news, the interim government is expected to make an announcement regarding the official capital and embassy information soon.

North Vienna, South Vienna, Osceola and Behrbergen have broken away from Drevet to form Vienna.

This is a Non-Community territory.

PORT ARLINGTON SUPERPROJECT OFFICIALLY COMPLETE-

ARLINGTON- The President along with many government officials attended the ribbon cutting for the multi-billion dollar overhaul of the nation’s largest port. The massive project includes 4 islands, 12 bridges, and the largest movement of earth in the country’s history. The new harbor can park 36 large ships at one time. The redesign of the port also allows ships to enter and exit swiftly and efficiently.

To offset the costs of this project, all the piers at Port Arlington are open for lease by international shipping companies. Once a pier is claimed by a company, they are free to add buildings that they need. The Port Authority may allow the companies to claim more than one pier.

As Port Arlington goes deeper into Phase 2, the construction of port facilities are taking shape.

Currently, Piers 1A-1F and Piers 2A-2D are open and are available for lease by private shipping companies and more piers are planned to open soon.

PORT ARLINGTON PROJECT BEGINS

ARLINGTON- Officials attended a ceremonial groundbreaking of the Port Arlington Superproject, a multi-billion dollar harbor reconstruction. The project includes creating new shipping channels, and islands. The Superproject also involves massive changes to the infrastructure of the Port Arlington area. The Drevet Port Authority announced that periodic port closures should be expected for the duration of the project. Once the project is complete, the Port Authority announced that international shipping companies may be invited to establish offices in the new harbor.

Meanwhile, a small port in Landrytown has been established to help ease congestion during reconstruction.

PETERSBURGH AIRPORT CONSTRUCTION COMPLETE

PETERSBURGH- The Grand Reopening of Petersburgh International Airport took place yesterday. The new airport features a new terminal building, refueling facility, and a fix to the bottleneck at the entrance to the airport. However, the expanded Airport Cargo Facility has been the highlight of the project. The new facility was moved across the airport from the now-refueling facility. The new cargo facility features two large cargo terminals and parking areas for trucks and containers. Along with the project, PR 33 was realigned to connect to the new cargo facility.

PERMIT APPLICATION GOES INTO EFFECT

REBACK- Following the Mahhal Incursion that defaced the much of the country, President Columbus announced policy changes regarding outside developers trying to secure building permits in Drevet. The President stated that the country ‘has and will continue to be open to outside developers’. However, following the incident in Mahhal, a resolution was passed requiring prospective developers to acquire written permission from the Drevet Government (A.K.A.- Me) before beginning work in the country. To request permission, a developer must include the following information:

-Where they wish to build (provide coordinates if clarification is necessary)

-What they plan to build

Large scale developments (large cities) WILL NOT be approved. Other developments like airports and freeways may be approved once the Government is satisfied with a developer’s previous work in Drevet.

If unauthorized developments are discovered, the Drevet Government reserves the right to shut down the project and expel the developer from the country. Further action will be taken against repeat offenders.

PORT ARLINGTON EXPANSION ENTERS PLANNING PHASE

ARLINGTON- The Drevet Port Authority announced that the nation’s only seaport will undergo a massive reconstruction and expansion. In a press conference this afternoon, the agency said that this project will make the harbor suitable for larger cargo ships. The port expansion is essential for the survival of Drevet as neighboring regions are largely uninhabited. Along with the Port Arlington project, the Port Authority will plan a small port for Landrytown.

Since Logan230 has resigned from Drevet, entrusting the country to BelpheniaProject and myself, I’d like to explain what is new in Drevet.

Firstly, new land features have been discovered across the country, most notably a mountain range on the southern border. Several rivers have been mapped as well, with potentially more to come.

Secondly, Drevet’s eastern interior has been divided into several smaller states to make it easier and less intimidating to develop, especially for those who cannot use JOSM.

With that said, Drevet still welcomes people to develop the country here and there. I am also welcome to the idea of mappers acting as ‘governors’ of some of the states. North and South Vienna are governed by me. Taswell is governed by BelpheniaProject.

If you would like to develop in Drevet, keep this in mind:

-The guidelines set by Logan230 will continue (See Logan’s ‘Drevet is now a community territory’ diary entry)

-Keep realism in mind, don’t turn Drevet into a giant mega city

PETERSBURGH- The political landscape in Drevet could face a seismic shift in the coming elections. A new political party, called the Vienna Independence Party (VIP), has gained popularity in Petersburgh and St. John’s City. The VIP has received a grassroots boost highlighting the lack of economic development outside North Vienna and South Vienna. Party leaders argue that Veannites are paying millions in taxes and not seeing any benefit.

Among the complaints made by party candidates is the failure to connect road and rail links between North Vienna and Taswell. The candidates vying for key positions in the Viennas say that this is preventing Viennites from reaping the benefits of the billions of dollars in investments made within the two districts.

Officials in Reback staunchly disagree with the accusation that the government is outright ignoring the issues concerning the Viennas. Representative Chuck Davis of Moulis stated that major projects like connecting Motorway 91 and the Arlington & Petersburgh Railroad can take decades before seeing construction. Davis cited the groundbreaking of the Reback-Duranth International Airport redevelopment, which has been in the planning staged for 14 years. He also stated that he is working hard to push the Motorway 91 project into construction.

This has not dissuaded the VIP, who say the Viennas are ignored by Reback. VIP leaders point out that Vienna has used local taxpayer dollars to fund national projects, such as the Motorway 66 construction in Nanets and the Reback Belphenia Railway Terminal. The party stated that if Drevet doesn’t acknowledge the issues of Vienna, then Vienna should stop paying taxes to Reback.

PETERSBURGH- The districts of North and South Vienna are Drevet’s fastest growing regions. Roads are paved, hospitals are top of the line and the local economy is in excellent condition. However, all across the country major construction projects have been seemingly forgotten, and Viennites are taking notice.

As Petersburgh and St. John’s City step out onto the world stage, courting overseas developers and international sports, local officials say the lack of federal investment is hindering their opportunities.

“We have pumped billions of dollars into making North Vienna and South Vienna attractive to companies from abroad. But all of our combined investments will have been wasted if Reback doesn’t start putting shovels in the dirt.” Says South Vienna Representative Bundy Markt.

Twelve years ago in a joint multi-million dollar project, North Vienna and South Vienna completed their sections of Motorway 91, as well as Route 1, and the Arlington & Petersburgh Railroad. This effort was hailed as a major step forward in uniting Drevet’s largest centers. However, the Purcell district has yet to start construction on any of these projects.

Elsewhere, growth in Moulis and Nanets has been stalled for years and carrying extra fuel is essential if one driving between Dahler and Reback, and Reback to Moulis.

“In order for this country to grow, we need leaders to step up and make Drevet a premier world player.” Said Markt.

In the Kuhn-Labrie area of Drevet, I think there are too many interchanges on the south end on Crystal Rd and Reback Rd. Not only that, they are too closely spaced. Also, I think it is unnecessary to have interchanges on Crystal Rd considering it runs parallel to MW 73 and MW 173. The same can be said for the interchange at Ruby Rd, Rocket Jump Rd, and Monroe Expressway. The interchange in place is not needed.

The newly created SH 163, also known as the Monroe Expressway is designed to be a bypass of central Duranth. Please do not add intersections with SH 163 with anything less than a Secondary road, also, please keep intersections spaced a fair distance apart.

I’ve added the SPUR 163 (Parkland Rd) to connect to the Grainger Industrial Area.

Interchanges are not necessary through the Duranth area.

Hello! I am PColumbus73, I found out about OGF through AARoads. I have founded Duranth, Grainger and New Charleston.

Some of my notes:

I’ve viewed Grainger and the southeastern side of Duranth as industrial areas (due to the Grainger Power Plant. Grainger would be more of a low-income, working class area.

New Charleston is intended to be a vacation/tourist spot.

With the Grainger Power Plant, I’ve drawn power lines connecting Marshall and Kuhn-Labrie. I’ll try to add new power lines as nearby cities get bigger.
