Floating currency exchange rates

Posted by Toadwart on 27 March 2017 in English.

I recently made a template, which constantly calculates a new value of the Aorangëan Dollar. It is basically a sinus curve (to simulate periodical fluctuations) multiplied with an exponential curve (to simulate) inflation. I didn’t do it because we need it, but rather because I can do it. You can see a table with “live” values here: http://wiki.opengeofiction.net/wiki/index.php/Aorang%C3%ABan_Dollar#floating Also in the list of currencies the value floats and therefore influences the sorting order.

If I might get bored and there is no public outcry here, I will introduce this for some more currencies. I did some blue currencies already.

If you like you can edit the parameters for your currency yourself, I added a minimum of documentation in the templates.

Seems interesting, I might do something about it, but I’ve not even touched anything about the currency of my nation. It’ll probably be down the road, unless you’d find it fun in demonstrating for me xD Nah you don’t need to, but cool template anyway!

This worked for me after I figured out that I needed to create a page called CURRENCY KKO DATA (for the Karolian Korona) which auto-generates. Basically, you will need to copy-paste the lines of code for your currency and then change the code to the correct one for it. Toadwart’s code then looks up the value compared to the USD from the ‘List of Currencies’ page and runs the algorithms once you have created the template page. Simply type CURRENCY [your currency code] DATA into the search box and it will be created for you.

It doesn’t auto-create. I was just online the same time and created it.

You need to copy (and modify) the source code to make it work.

You can also do that to my country currency Singkarean Pound.
