Hello.
I’d like to propose a highway (Probably motorway-only) network like Europe does, except spur routes. Now the problem is that lots of roads have gaps in between and it’ll be hard to organize, but is it generally a good idea?

There has been a lot of discussions on this on motorways across continents. I think others will provide you the links to the discussions.
I will not totally support thus idea as there are still some problems as stated in those discussions.

As Zhenkang said, this has been discussed many times, and it has been descided that this is not feesable. There are 2 main problems: - There are many unowned countries across the ogf world meaning that infastructure cannot be built through these countries. - With the numerous users across ogf, some more active than others, some with a higher quality of mapping than others and some who speak different languages, it would be impossible to organise
