I developped a new town in southern Egani, and I tried to save the changes, but :
“Version mismatch: Provided 93, server had: 96 of Relation 10071”
How can I do to save the changes if it happens again ? It’s not the first time it, and I don’t really know how to solve the problem.
Thank you in advance for your help !

Relation 10071 happens to be one I know well: that’s the Uletha continental coastline maintenance relation. It is easy for conflicts to develop with respect to this relation because it is so large, but since I use JOSM, these conflicts are easy to resolve.
My main advice would be that, even using JOSM, a person should save VERY OFTEN, to minimize conflicts.
There is another issue, however: several times recently when attempting to solve coastline problems (which cause the giant rendering floods we sometimes see), those problems have been in Egani. Something about your editing style is creating a larger number of coastline problems than most users. This causes admins like me or Histor to go into your territory and make edits in attempt to solve the coastline problems. That can lead to conflicts if you happen to be meanwhile editing.
I don’t want to discourage you - I have been extremely impressed with your detailed mapping work - I really like it. I even nominated your Alnisi for a Featured Map for our homepage recently. However, it would be great if you could be more careful with your coastline work and study how to use relations and other water features to get the coastline and river and lake effects you want.
My strongest advice if you are serious about mapping on OGF is to begin working with JOSM. This will also give you tools to resolve conflicts when you go to upload edits and prevent the loss of work.
Regards, and happy mapping….

Thank you Luciano for the advice !
I’m sorry to make problems with floods… I’m slowly learning how to use the relations (thanks to isleño) as I try to use JOSM more often. I think I should not touch coastlines with normal editor anymore maybe..
Do you have more advice than those that are in the FAQ (that I just remembered) ?
I think I’ll keep using the in-browser editor for detailed work of cities and villages, cause it’s very convenient for my editing style… Also I learnt how to resolve conflicts with JOSM.
Hope I’ll not cause the death of 1 billion people again –‘…
By the way, thank you for the nomination ! :-) I’m still working on Alnisi and its region.

Oh, I’ve just saw your changes in Egani on “History” :
“josm online / coastline maintenance - please do not use coastline tags on inland objects like lakes and their islands - use relations or natural=water instead”
Thank you for the advice.

Thanks for understanding. I was worried I spoke too strongly. I really like Alnisi - I want to achieve such naturalism someday. There’s some additional coastline advice at the OGF:Coastline Maintenance page. I’m not sure if it is very helpful - I welcome feedback to make it more helpful. Isleño also made this VERY cool sign but so far we haven’t put it on the wiki.

JOSM has a built-in conflict resolver. For iD or Potlatch, I have no idea how to do it, I’ve never had it happen before.
