In some cities it is usual, to give a name for a street only once in the whole town (p.e. Hamburg / Germany). In other great cities a street-name can given twice or more often, but only once in a defined area (p.e. Berlin / Germany).
In Khaiwoon we need a lot of street-names. So I think, a street-name could be used twice or more, but only once in a suburb. What do you mean?

Hi histor! Here are some resources so we can avoid duplication of street names in Khaiwoon.
For English-sounding names, feel free to choose a street from London. There are thousands to choose from and they are all listed here:

And, for Khaiwoonese-sounding names, I’ve made a generator here:

To use the generator, scroll to the bottom and click the “generate” button. It will give you over 200 words with each click. Many of them aren’t very good, but you should be able to find several you like in every batch.

In Salsa I don’t believe I have any duplicate street names. I’m not sure if any of the Salsa names are duplicated in the city. When I get home I will try the name generator. Where I live in NY there is at least 5 different Ocean Avenues in my county alone. NYC will repeat names only if they are in a different borough so you will have a 42nd Street in Brooklyn, Queens and Manhattan. This naming convention becomes an issue at work when I geocode addresses. The green highway under construction is that a future motorway?

It looks like a future motorway. I think histor drew it there as a suggestion. Of course you can change it if you like.
I wouldn’t worry about accidentally duplicating a name on occasion; I think that’s inevitable. I just wouldn’t want to start reusing names that I know already occur in the city.
One useful thing JOSM does is that when you are typing a name, it will attempt to auto-fill with any other name that exists in the downloaded region, so on the rare occasion that it correctly auto-fills the name I was starting to type, I just switch to another name instead.

@ Easky30 = the dotted line is a motorway in construction. I think, we let it in construction - some things in such a great city are ever in construction, they are never real ready.
Street names = As Easky30 wrote, my meaning is one name in one suburb. The suburb is the difference. Here in Khaiwoon we work with different persons - you must not now the own names, but too the names of the other persons. Or ?

I just now noticed the Orinico street names near the Hibiscus Place station, that’s really awesome thank you. I’m still getting used to the scale of my blocks and buildings etc. I wish there was a way to display feet/ meters in the edit mode.

Like I said, I don’t think there’s anything wrong with accidentally duplicating a name because you are unaware it already exists. Just please don’t reuse a name which you know occurs elsewhere in the city. If you’re having difficulty creating names, the naming resources provided can give you an endless supply of good quality names.
JOSM is highly recommended!

Isleno, the Khaiwoonse name generator does not work anymore. The website is down for some reason…
