Terminals of Streetcar-lines

Posted by histor on 24 May 2020 in German (Deutsch)

In townmaps (may be not only in Europe?) it is usual, to show the terminal of a streetcar-line with the line number encircled - like ⑤. This encircled numbers are defined in the Unicode as hexa from #2461 and following or decimal from 9312 and following. In the Unicode-list there are the encircled numbers 1 to 20. Also there are some encircled letters, if your lines are lettered.

In the ID-editor it is not possible, to give this encircled numbers into the name-tag directly only with the ALT-key-methode. So you please must look in an unicode-list and copy this character and paste it in the name-tag of your tram_stop-tag.

This encircled number logical looks smaller as the normal number. If you will be able to read this encircled number on the map, the character has to be in a greater grade. For this please add to your tag "railway=tram_stop" the tag "service=terminal". Then the name of the tram-stop will appear in the histor-style in a greater grade as usual, so that the encircled number good is readable. In the standard-style this service tag will do nothing, there the tag is neutral. Visible in the histor-style this terminal-tags are in zoom 15; the normal name-tag of tram-stops in zoom 16.

Exemple for a streetcar-system with such terminals may be Aerwinya in Oakhill, Federal States - see [https://opengeofiction.net/#map=17/-37.80576/161.02969&layers=H]

Changing of histor-style - the 3rd

Posted by histor on 28 January 2020 in German (Deutsch)

Let us have an eye to the buslines - like here [https://opengeofiction.net/#map=17/-37.79534/161.03272&layers=H]

Yes - it is an illegetime child of the streetcar - only in green instead of red. Here you really are mapping for rendering - but you can show your important bus-lines in your city. Name can be given to the line and to the stop. This feature is not foreseen for long-distance buslines from city to city - it is possible, but may be not good looking.

Tagging see [https://wiki.opengeofiction.net/wiki/index.php/OGF:Histor-style] Why "railway"? To take a structure, the renderer know. Why "busline" and not only "bus"? To avoid a key-word for mapping, which may be possible in the future by a standard-style.

Changing of histor-style - the 2nd

Posted by histor on 17 January 2020 in German (Deutsch)

Here we have some new road-colours - and not more this "not to see"-green for the trunk-roads, if the road is between green landscape. Is this new "#ff69be" (in the colour-table named as "hot pink") too much hot? May be we can make it a little bit lesser dominant. Primary now is "#ffa501" and secondary "ffff01", which means nearly plain yellow. The colour of motorways (blue') and tertiary and lesser roads and pathes are unchanged.

Sure there is some smoothing-work to do (the ref-shields and some pieces over bridges).

The garden-pattern has now colour #77e72f as iiEarth has suggested.

Next step will be a seperate colour for freight-railways. We already have blue for subways, green for commuter-rails, red for hi-speed trains. Can we drop the green for the commuters and use it for freight-rails or did you think, we need a seperate colour for both? And if yes, which?

Update histor-style 1-2020

Posted by histor on 12 January 2020 in German (Deutsch)

It is some years ago, the histor-style is changed the last time. So now let us have an update. First the firmland gets a colour more bright, because with the past colour the map looks too dark. Gardens get an light green. Some new symbols (doctor, veterinary, craftsman) will add to the symbols and in next time some other will be added - mainly in connection with the shipping-lines.

The zoo-symbol is changed (not more the elephant, but a catpaw - from a lion :-) ). Nevertheless I am not sure, if this is the best soloution - may be better is an abstrat pattern (green with points?). We will see.

The green of the trunk-roads is no good colour for this highways. I think, a light blue is better - or darker red? What do you prefer?

In the past some user ask me for a special colour or marking for railway-tracks only for freight use. We have in the histor-style red for the hi-speed rails, green for commuter-rails, blue for the subways and other rails are gray (see here [https://opengeofiction.net/#map=16/-13.5752/39.6951&layers=H]). What significant different colour may be perfect?

Huntington Red Light

Posted by histor on 8 September 2019 in German (Deutsch)

O.k. - there are more places in Huntington, where you can go in the evening. But the real night quarter, the red-light district of the town is behind the railway station. In the north the Ispelia Street, east the Gobrassanya Avenue, south the Ataraxia Street and in the west the Kalm Avenue are the imaginaire boundaries of this area. Here the night can be dangerous, sexy, loud and fascinating.

In Huntington, the capital of the FSA, is forseen an area for your embassy. If you will start diplomatic relations, you can draw your embassy in this red marked area. Plase do not take more place for your embassy as half a block (or lesser, if you represent a small country). If you wish an other place for your embassy, please contact Ernestpcosby or histor. We will be glad to see your embassy in the FSA.

Devellopement of New Carnaby

Posted by histor on 10 February 2019 in German (Deutsch)

Four counties in New Carneby (Federal States of Archanta) west of the metropole of Stanton shall be develloped. This work is nothing for friends of motorways and excessive rectangled street grids - here we prefer a more rurual type of urbanisation.

Rails, motorways and primary roads are given. No more "towns". ("Town" here mean a place with more than 50,000 inhabitants). Only one town in each county may have 100,000 to 120.000 inhabitants, the others with lesser people. Only small regional airfields (one in a country). Town boundaries here are usual with admin_level = 8

Only one wiki-article for each county to avoid overwikification.

Sure you may change details of the given items, but not the generel layout. May be at some occassions you feel, a changing of the layout is necessary - then we can discuss about. If you can be friend with this conditions, please write to BMSOUZA or histor to get your claim.

It can be offered:

=== Aldergate County === see [https://opengeofiction.net/#map=11/-40.3552/159.3622] flat landscape. In the east sleeping towns for Stanton, in the west rurual character. Town boundaries are given.

=== Beaver County === see [https://opengeofiction.net/#map=11/-40.6809/159.1116] low hills, generally rurual character, in the east sleeping towns for Stanton

=== Pacuhanco County === see [https://opengeofiction.net/#map=11/-40.7704/158.8712] flat landscape, rurual character, in the west more or less swampy area of Carnegy River. In the east changing to soft hills. You may add few towns

=== Six Lakes County === see[https://opengeofiction.net/#map=11/-40.9454/159.1143] hilly landscape, holiday area for Stanton, many weekend-houses, small villages and towns, romantic lakes

Too small blocks

Posted by histor on 9 April 2017 in German (Deutsch)

An example from Commonia = [http://opengeofiction.net/#map=18/17.24328/140.42537]

As far as I know in New York City the blocks are 60 to 240 m. If you calculate as minimum 1) street a, right side driving lane 3 m, 2) parking lane 2 m, 3) footway 3 m, 4) house at street a 12 m, 5) inner block 10 m, 6) house at street b 12 m, 7) footway 3 m, 8) parking lane 2 m and 9) street b, left side driving lane 3 m = then you get 50 m. This is the absolute minimum for reasonable buildings inside of the blocks.

If you will do a good work for the inhabitants of your town - give them more room.

Plan and Reality

Posted by histor on 11 March 2017 in German (Deutsch)

the barrio # 2 of Latina (Ciudad) [http://opengeofiction.net/relation/718] was planed for 100 990 inhabitants on the 12,43 km² - means moderate 8982 inhabitants each km². Meanwhile roundabout 3090 houses there are buildt - most with 4 floors and ground floor and 12 or 24 flats in a house. Only few houses are smaller. So we can calculate 3090 * 15 flats are 46 350 flats in all. Let in each live 4 persons as average, so we get 185 400 possible inhabitants = 14 500 each km² (I hope, I did not miscalculate me).

O.k. - that is only a rough calculation. But it is to see, that 100 990 inhabitants are too few for this central dense urbanisated area. So now I set 170.990 for this area. Sure the "new" 70 000 inhabitants will be substracted in other barrios, to let the total inhabitants of Latina (Ciudad) on the same level.

So we can see, that the planed inhabitants can be fixed only after the step, that all houses are drawn

Latina (Ciudad) - Barrio # 2

Posted by histor on 23 February 2017 in German (Deutsch)

Meanwhile the southern part of Barrio # 2 (named "Barrio Nuovo") has got some urban athmosphere. It is a mixes area with houses with 5 floors, but some surviving smaller and older buildings. In the middle of the blocks often are some small industry or baker, plumber and so on. Most important building are the stock-exchange and to the right at the Avenida Sardenga the juristic part of the university. For all, which love pets, look at Passage Cantabria please.

Birds in towns

Posted by histor on 12 February 2016 in German (Deutsch)

100 to 146 different sort of birds live in the towns in Europa, Amerika, Asia and Australia. But so many only, if there are grass, shrubs and trees among the stones. To have this diversity, it is necessary, that parks have 10 ha (1/10 km²) or more and that for genetic health there are helpful junctions between the parks as trees along the street or trees on a strip in the middle of the street or avenue. (means Bernhard Kegel in his book "Tiere in der Stadt"/animals in the town)

Island hopping shipping line

Posted by histor on 21 April 2015 in German (Deutsch)

In the island bow south of Khaiwoon I plan to set a shipping-line, running about * Jørpenilands * UL314 (free) * UL309 (inactive) * UL308 - Kairranui Islands = Boge * UL307 - Paranabi = BMSOUZA * UL306 - Lallemans = Portopolis * to Khaiwoon and Niulutan-Riu

Please write here, if you not agree with this plan. Thanks.

Boundaries

Posted by histor on 10 April 2015 in German (Deutsch)

I wish, some people are more careful with the boundaries of administration-units. If one do not exactly know , what to do, then he (or she) can please look in our wiki-tutorial about boundaries, before he (or she) draws a lot of false boundaries.

So please ...

... set not a new boundary at an older boundary without to to make at the connecting node two pieces of the old boundary (with the scissor-tool) . In other case no one of your boundary-relations will work well.

... let never two or more boundary-ways let run about the same nodes. If anywhere is an administrative boundary it is always only ONE way. What a sort of boundary this is, is shown with the admin_level. So if a country-boundary (level 2) and a province-boundary (level 4) have the same way, draw only the country-boundary. The province-boundary between different provinces must end at the country-boundary and NOT run with the country-boundary around your province.

Sport stadium in Podlatch2

Posted by histor on 31 March 2015 in German (Deutsch)

This is the better way as I made in the past, I think.

First draw a playing field (100 * 67 m) with [leisure = pitch]. Then draw the 400m track around with [highway = service]

Third is the inner line of the stadium-building around the 400 m track, here I take [landuse = meadow]. Fourth is the outer line of the stadium, only with the name [name = xyz] - no building-tag is to use.

Then the relation as multipolygone with [type = multipolygone], [ref = abc], [building = yes] and [amenty = public_building]. The "ref" is helpful, to indentificaire different multipolygones.

Sixt step = the outer line (the third) with the name is connected with the multipolygone as "outer" and the inner line (the fourth) as "inner". The service road and the sport-pitch are not connected with the polygone.

Looks then as this [http://opengeofiction.net/#map=17/-10.87107/43.69139&layers=H]

Catpaw

Has an own webside [http://www.ziggie.de] , which cost me 65 €cent a month ;-)

Metro in Latina Cidudad

Posted by histor on 21 May 2014 in German (Deutsch)

The LMC (Latina Metro Compañia) has published a new map of the metro-system of the city. The backside of the plan - including the lines in the inner city with more details - you can see here = www.horstbu.de/metrolatina.png

[O.k. - not all stations are set and not all stations have a name. That is, becaus the city too is "work in progress"]

There are some express-lines - so each second train of line # 1 north of "Universidad" is an express-train. Between "Artado" and "Universidad" the green line # 7 stops only at "Espana"-railway-station and in the southern part the grey line # 8 goes direkt from "Estacion Sur" to "Fabio Megontes". The trace of lines # 6 and 7 north of "Universidad" was formerly the trackbed of the northern railway, which now terminated in the main-station (Estacion Central).

The northern part of line # 10 is only in action, if there are the fairies ("Messe"/"Feria") or if they play in the national stadium. Line # 11 in his northeastern part is in construction still. This line works in two sections 11a and 11b (Ponte Kennedy - Almolario and Est. Sur - Estadio Nacional), so that in the middle part the service is denser.

Between "Independencia" and "Guëll" you see three lines ( ## 1, 5 and 6). They all run - with 6 tracks - in the old area of the eastern fortification of the old town. Between "Guëll" and "Torquez" too are three lines (## 1, 2 and 12) with 6 tracks. Here formerly was a part of the port of Latina, which is now the park of the Esplanade-Boulevard along the shore. The main seagoing ships now start at Saguset-City, where is deeper water.

If you are a friend of soccer-sport, you will find easy all importand places in town.

Have fun with that map.
