Here we have some new road-colours - and not more this “not to see”-green for the trunk-roads, if the road is between green landscape. Is this new “#ff69be” (in the colour-table named as “hot pink”) too much hot? May be we can make it a little bit lesser dominant. Primary now is “#ffa501” and secondary “ffff01”, which means nearly plain yellow. The colour of motorways (blue’) and tertiary and lesser roads and pathes are unchanged.
Sure there is some smoothing-work to do (the ref-shields and some pieces over bridges).
The garden-pattern has now colour #77e72f as iiEarth has suggested.
Next step will be a seperate colour for freight-railways. We already have blue for subways, green for commuter-rails, red for hi-speed trains. Can we drop the green for the commuters and use it for freight-rails or did you think, we need a seperate colour for both? And if yes, which?

I think freight can be black or grey.
Comment from Martinawa on 17 January 2020 at 14:34
I’d say this colouring for roads is definitely too bright. I’d rather make changes on these to look a little bit more pale-ish, while still distinguishable.

@zhenkiang: what do you mean to brown? @ Martinawa: Indeed the trunk-road can be lesser bright. For thre trunk-road I try to avoid a red tone. May be we can follow the rainbow as pink for motorway, blue for trunk, orange for primary and yellow for secondary?

This may be slightly off-topic, but what is a ‘tidalway’?
Comment from histor on 17 January 2020 at 19:02
Tidalway is a marker along a way, which can only be gone (or drive) at ebbtide. This are most high 3 to 5 m and at top some branches of wood for orientation in the tidal land. See please [https://opengeofiction.net/#map=15/-37.8380/160.8711&layers=H].

It really is too bright. And the color scheme is a little too like the default in some ways as it is right now.
Comment from Fluffr_Nuttr on 17 January 2020 at 21:56
I’m fine with the new garden color, btw.
Comment from histor on 17 January 2020 at 22:05
@Whateversusan: I like the color-scheme in the topo-style. I hope, at next update we get nearer to a more neutral design. But the motorways - I think - will stay blue.
@Fluffr_Nuttr: thanks. Then we let it in this colour.
Comment from Fluffr_Nuttr on 17 January 2020 at 22:05
Otherwise, I’m agreeing with whateversusan- make everything a bit less bright (mainly the yellow and pink), but keep the style unique.
Comment from histor on 17 January 2020 at 23:14
There is some testing necessary. It is not only the colour as such - but how is a road to identificate among woods, farmland and other. It is a difference, if you have a mapped landscape or a white land only with roads. So seen the yellow per se is a good colour for streets - see the topo-style. But indeed the “hot pink” will be changed. May be “coral” = #ff7f50 (as here [https://wiki.selfhtml.org/wiki/Grafik/Farbpaletten] )
Comment from zhenkang on 17 January 2020 at 23:20
I did not say brown. I said either black or grey for the railway freight lines. Anuway, I also agree the colours are too bright and inappropriate for the layer. Honestly I hope the colours can be more similar to the one in JOSM.
Comment from histor on 17 January 2020 at 23:52
@Zhenkiang: I think, a line in black or dark gray is the normal and unspecific image of a railway. It says not specially: “I am a freight track”. If we will have a special design for freight-lines, then we should change this colour to something individuel for freight. Red and blue is often junctioned with hi-speed and subway. So we may take green for freight und let the former green colour for commuter-lines again become the common black?
What is your favorite colour for trunks? (But please - not green)
Comment from zhenkang on 18 January 2020 at 00:12
@Histor. Then I suggest using dark green for freight. Then keep using green for normal rail.
Comment from iiEarth on 18 January 2020 at 00:37
Looks nice, just some dimming would be great.
Also, why are bridges coloured differently than the original road? Looks off.
Comment from histor on 18 January 2020 at 00:55
@Zhenkiang: Dark green (“oliv”) for freight I think is a good choice. May be the commuters then can get an dark orange or a light brown.
@ iiEarth: The same question I ask myself since two days. I am digging in the code. Hope dies last.
Comment from Tahadagal on 20 January 2020 at 03:27
Honestly i feel like roads should have 1 color, so i would just make it maybe like purple-ish color?
Comment from zhenkang on 20 January 2020 at 06:13
Also another suggestion: is it possible to feature flag poles on the map? This is also crucial sometimes for embassies, plazas and central pedestrian squares.
Comment from histor on 20 January 2020 at 07:14
@zhenkang: Yes
Comment from histor on 20 January 2020 at 13:43
Here it is - zoom 16 and more and the usual tagging = “man_made=flagpole” [https://opengeofiction.net/#map=16/-37.7856/161.0527&layers=H]
