It is some years ago, the histor-style is changed the last time. So now let us have an update.
First the firmland gets a colour more bright, because with the past colour the map looks too dark. Gardens get an light green. Some new symbols (doctor, veterinary, craftsman) will add to the symbols and in next time some other will be added - mainly in connection with the shipping-lines.
The zoo-symbol is changed (not more the elephant, but a catpaw - from a lion :-) ). Nevertheless I am not sure, if this is the best soloution - may be better is an abstrat pattern (green with points?). We will see.
The green of the trunk-roads is no good colour for this highways. I think, a light blue is better - or darker red? What do you prefer?
In the past some user ask me for a special colour or marking for railway-tracks only for freight use. We have in the histor-style red for the hi-speed rails, green for commuter-rails, blue for the subways and other rails are gray (see here [https://opengeofiction.net/#map=16/-13.5752/39.6951&layers=H]). What significant different colour may be perfect?

I’m liking the new farmland color!
By the way, is there any reason low zooms show country names that no longer exist?
Comment from histor on 12 January 2020 at 13:57
Yes - the new farmland colour is more decent, I think. That in low-zooms is to see an older status may be a question of update - in the standard-style this run more often.

I like the idea of a darker red for the trunk roads. The zoo symbol is actually harder to decipher for me, the elephant symbol was clearer as to what it was. What about yellow-orange for freight rail?

Am I the only one who liked green for the trunk roads?

I definitely like the new farmland color. I have grown quite fond of the histor style over the years - I very much like how it shows counties and townships at lower zooms and more clearly. I also like the distinctions for railroads - though so far I haven’t made much use of that. I will someday.

I can’t see the Histor layer at all anymore; is this because of the update?
Comment from Luciano on 15 January 2020 at 05:53
It does seem rather suddenly broken. Was working fine earlier…

Some patience please. I am working in the background.

@Whateversusan: Betweeen the catpaws now is some more space - I hope this is a better “zoo”-symbol. Also plant nurserys now a to see (usual tag: landuse = plant_nursery)
Comment from whateversusan on 15 January 2020 at 21:55
It looks much better! It’s very clear now.

To be honest, the new garden color is a bit uneasy on the eyes.

@ Fluffr_Nuttr: Too “green”? What do you will like? (You can give the colour as #xxxxxx). This changing is easy.
Comment from iiEarth on 16 January 2020 at 17:23
I agree the Fluffr_Nuttr; the green for gardens is really bright, almost neon. Something like #77E72F would look better.
Sorry, and thanks!

Could trams be #7A7A7A? Red seems a bit off for trams.

iiearth pretty much summed up what i thought. I’ll recommend a color later today if you’d like.

Thanks, iiEarth and Fluffr4_Nuttr: 77e72f seemed to be a good colour for garden - but let us wait for F-Ns preference. The streetcar-lines will be in plain red, because the roads will get a small black or dark gray stripe aside (as in the topo-style). Please take in mind, that this histor style is not only for the Federal States, but for the whole OGF.
Comment from iiEarth on 17 January 2020 at 00:50
If the street-cars do remain red, may you add a white stripe? It would look better.
Comment from histor on 17 January 2020 at 01:38
If the streets are cased with a black line you never will see the streetcar aside, if the streetcar is darkgray also. What do you mean with a “stripe”? A dotted line? Or a stripe in white at the both sides of the tramway? May be this is too extravagant?
Comment from iiEarth on 17 January 2020 at 06:03
A stripe, as in what you have done with the other rails; there is a unique color, and then a white stripe. The color and the white stripe alternate.
