North Archanta language translations

Posted by wangi on 5 July 2020 in English (English)

Hi, what was formerly Commonia has been divided into a few territories to try and get some language consistency. This is ahead of a dedicated English language blue territory as part of the Federal States.

The territory map has been updated. Click on the blue territories to see the theme and language. But the translations were largely on automatic translate results...

So, please check that map, if you know the languages and the icons are wrong - let us know here!

Is there going to be a clean-up of some sort maybe?

Will those territories remain blue permanently or will they eventually become green, similar to the territories that were once former Northern Commonia?

Plan was for Simplified and Traditional Chinese already there:

  • Simplified
  • Traditional

But looks like the simplified could certainly be enlarged.

No promises, but currently they are blue for the foreseeable future.

No plan just now for a coordinated clean-up.

The plan looks good, but I'm not sure about how mixing Dravidian with Chinese.

Looks good, and I think that a lot of these languages are vastly underrepresented so these territories should be valuable. The main comment I have is on the Bantu language used in the Southwest of AR925- I assume that you translated Edit into Zulu as a temporary stand-in. Zulu is used along the south coast of the Commonwealth and in IpulaziIzwe. This means a language like Sesotho or Swahili makes the most sense, the former common across large areas of the Central Commonwealth as well as Kwinatu, and the latter not used in the Commonwealth but with more resources for learning basics and translation. Ultimately, the decision would probably depend on what happens with Nomatsi, so I guess Zulu can stay for now.

Best Wishes, Infrarrojo

I could help with renaming some places in the territories assigned with Dravidian languages.

That's a great project ! The OGF world starts to be much more solid these days, and regrouping the blue territories by language adds consistence to it. Thus it gets easier to elaborate the historic features, diplomatic relationships etc. and so on.

I noticed all the descriptions and suggestions of cultures accepted for each territory on the vector map... that's a quite practical feature too.
