Hi, I saw that transnational contential motorway systems are not so popular so I thought of suggesting another mode of transportation that spreads within continents- railways.
Like some of those stated here, I wonder whether is this possible in separate continents, if not for those unoccupied territories. It can improve connectivity for people and cargo, instead of just ships and planes.

There are trains that run across national borders across the OGF world, it’s just a matter of collaborating with your neighbours. Trying to co-ordinate cross-continental systems might turn out to be a bit of a fool’s errand because it relies on stable mapping in dozens of nations. If someone, in the middle of your trans-Uletha line, abandons their country and it gets taken over by someone with a new idea, then you might have to re-think the whole line.
I’m not saying don’t do it, just don’t waste time on it unless you think it will really add something to OGF.

I’d encourage you do focus on cooperating with your next-door neighbours too. Detailed train schedules only make sense once the human geography is pretty accurately mapped anyways. Kojo and Ataraxia got quite a solid high-speed rail connection along the coast for example, but I still haven’t gotten around to thinking about regional trains across the northern section of our border. At the end, a “trans-continental railway” will only be a simply line drawn in the editor, but to fill it with live (and make sure it makes sense), cooperation with neighbours is everything ;)

It only makes sense if each countries railways are properly tagged, for example what is the use of a continental railway if you don’t know the gauge and thus if you have to use special trains and “build”(map) facilities for Track gauge conversion (Check out the german article, as almost always with railway things it’s way more detailed on the german wikipedia). Also there should be communication with the other countries regarding curve radius and other track geometry, otherwise it’s gonna end up as incompatible mess that noone can use…
