Hey, everyone. As you all may remember, I’m the manager of a collaborative country called Woolonia in Archanta. Woolonia is a purple country (managed but collaborative), and is a modern country with a sheep-centered society. It’s largely split between urban modern cities and smaller more traditional herding towns and sheep pastures in rural areas. The wool and sheep product (including food) industries are the staples of the country. Woolonia developed in an interestingly unique way- It remained very sheep centered, but the cities urbanized and developed around it.

Having dedicated more time and concentration to working on my own nation of Freedemia, I haven’t really had a chance to do much work on Woolonia. On top of that, I haven’t been able to figure out where to start. I’m looking for more people interested in helping out. For more information, see the three links below:

EDIT- PROJECT IN PROCESS OF CHANGING. SEE COMMENTS AND OGF:Woolonia Collaboration Talk Page.

Woolonia Talk Page

OGF:Woolonia Collaboration Talk Page

Ideas, volunteers, and people interested in taking on a side project of helping with it are welcome. Please respond in the comments if you’d like to know more. I’m not looking for a bunch of new motorways-I think the current motorway system is already pushing it. But small towns, a few select new cities where city markers are on the map (Centerport, Shearville, Pastureville), and rural areas are welcome. Improvements of Woolport and New Wooley are also greatly welcomed.

*To be clear, Maydien is property of user Belphenia Project. Please don’t mess with that area, it is not free to edit. Also, Belphenia Project has already gotten a good start on Slauson City, but the area listed as “Shearville” could still use a lot of work (it was originally just a copy of LA and frankly most just needs deletion and replacement). If you do take on this project, please try not to mess with what has already been done in the Slauson City area. :)

I’ve been working on Plowford since October now, and I am very pleased with my mapping. Absolutely everything street-level is mapped out (or will be*) mapped out.

*Postboxes, trees, bus shelters etc will come when/if I finish the town

Because of the enormity of this task at hand, does anyone have anything to say about improvements I can make? This is basically the last stage where I can go back and correct all of my work, as the more I map, the more difficult it gets. At later stages, I will only be able to rectify small areas, as any changes will have to be implemented to the entire city.

I tend to do my mapping with some historical context-but not with larger and more obvious features such as castles or manors. The historical context is a lot more physical and infrastructure-related than that. See if you can spot anything!

Happy mapping!

Hi everyone

As the title suggests, I’ve been working a lot on the railway system in my city of Igwepir. Some things (main station, old main station, yard, underground platforms) have yet to be finished, but I’d like to hear your opinions, and whether y’all think I’m on the right way. If I’m doing something wrong, be sure to let me know.

Regards

Edit: the Nortkap line is not supposed to end there

Hey, folks! This is a question more for the admin team, but I’m just curious if somebody else had this habit. Some months ago there was a feature at the bottom of all wiki pages that showed the number of views that each page had since its creation. Although it doesn’t seem to be the most useful information, I always checked those numbers in the pages I created for one main reason: to see if the wiki pages I created were interesting for other people. I could easily figure out the pages people liked the most by the amount of views they had and I used that info as some feedback to my wiki editing (although I know the number of views should not be the sole aspect of a good wiki page).

Recently, though, this information has disappeared from the pages. I have no idea why, so that’s my question for the admin team!

Thank you and happy mapping!

I came to the conclusion it’s not the best name for Slavic language family, because it doesn’t sound very Slavic and it’s tough to pronounce.

In Czech (Drabantian), it doesn’t even follow the basic rules of spelling:

  • s is followed by y only in certain words with a common root.
  • r is a hard consonant, which means it should always be followed by y.
  • No double l’s.
  • G’s are very sparse.
  • I could settle for Sirylankan, but that sounds even worse. (I associate it with baby care items for some reason.)

So, I played around with words a little and I have three possible substitutions:

  • Slane (Slanic) (Drab.: Slán; the root slan means something salty.)
  • Sleve/Leve (Slevic/Levic) (Drab.: Levan; the root lev means ease or left (direction) in this case, I’m listing both options because Slevan would mean ‘discount man’ in Drabantian.)
  • Lave (Lavic) (Drab.: Lavan; the root lev would mean lion in this case.)

So, vote for your favorites! I like Leve/Levic the best.

Also, please note I definitely do not want to force my opinions on anyone and doing this is completely optional.

Hello,

For the last few weeks, I have been facing some issues regarding the climate of my country Guai. The main question is not necessarily about writing an article or an article section about it but more about adapting the landscape to the climate (rivers’ width, land cover, agriculture, etc.).

I have drawn the following sketch as a proposition for Antarephia climate with air and and ocean currents. I’ve tried to bear in mind that we are looking at the southern hemisphere but that Hesperic Ocean is closed by Kartumia to the west, meaning we won’t have an Antarctic Circumpolar Current as strong as we have on Earth. Consequently, Hesperic Ocean is likely to behave like Northern Atlantic Ocean but “reversed”: air and water go east and south instead of east and north. Western Antarephia would look more like Western Europe and Morocco than to Chile.

Anyway, it’s not written in stone and I’d like to know whether it makes sense to you?

Hello all! It’s been a month since I’ve updated you all on where Tierajas-Verdes is, and there has been a lot of development from last update. I can’t much remember how much was done last month since there has been so much work, so I’m going to update you on everything I am sure you haven’t been updated on.

To start, following on from the responses last month on the delta of the Changori River, I got JOSM which I have been using since, and have remodeled the delta to something I feel is more realistic to what I wanted.

I’ve also changed the peninsula a small amount so it’s shorter. And the rivers of the country have been thinned…and will probably end up even thinner as I work through. A general over-view of my nation can be found below. Also to note, I have been in contact with georgecg and Oxalia about developing the Cathar Mountain range, mentioned only a few times on the wiki when talking about the Liberan Peninsula. I’ve only done the rough-massing so far.

A General Overview of Tierajas-Verdes showing changes in the Delta, Bay, Peninsula and Rivers

Moving onto Parirakbe, it is almost coming to completion in the actual area of the city, moving into the country-side and farm-land. The Metropolitan Area is still far from done, including Bhunda, Chakhat and Magara, as well as a lot of country-side.

The Overview of Parirakbe, close to completion

I’m experimenting with showing off densely packed blocks much like found in Bangladesh and India. These packed blocks would task far too much for myself and for OGF I do feel, so I’m only showing separate buildings along the main highways, while everything else that is too complicated to map are one massive blob of building. What you think of the idea?

Just a week or more to Chinese New Year, or rather Babelic’s new year!

I thought of creating a mapping challenge for this festive season: Create a Babelic town (chinatowns) where the Babelic-speaking people in your country can interact.

It must include: *Chinese/ Babelic Restaurants *Chinese temples eg Buddhist, Taoist etc. *Some plazas and shopping malls to serve the Babelic people. Happy mapping and have a blessed new year.

I have an idea:

What about an International Ulethan Motorway network?

This would basically work like the real world E-** road network, and would span the entire continent of Uletha. I believe this would fix the messes that people maoe when mapping highways, and would certainly improve international border crossing.

My ideas are:

-The roads would be numbered from U/I/M-1

-They wouldnt have to be newly built roads, but rather a layer on a layer.(i.e we would simp,y take the nice motorways that people build and add an international number to them)

-They would start somewhere in Pretany, Kalm or possibly the countries in western Uletha, and would slowly spider outwards into the northern and eastern regions.

There’s been a lot of discussion about forums and chat rooms. A lot. I have created an OGF forum to allow for a more organised method of discussion about our OGF work.

I have not created an off-topic forum, I might do in the future but after the last few days it seems best to concentrate things on mapping, cities that inspire our mapping and the wiki.

Take a look, register and we’ll see how things go.

Hey everyone, has anyone ever made a map showing our worlds climate zones? Would be helpful to know exactly where its warm, cold, moderate etc. Example: My territory says it has a cold cimate, but compared to where it would be located on the real earth it would be in southern Brasil, somewhere around Curitiba or Sao Paulo, to be more precise. So the climate needs to be corrected in some places I would say. What do you think?
