Hello How are you guys? Did anyone else notice that the map seems to update really slow? Usually when I edit it should take no more than a couple hours at most to update, sometimes even only a hour. But now when I map something it literally takes up to 3 days before it even partially shows up on the map. Anyone else have similar experiences? (Edit: Now it seems to show it partially on closely zoomed in. I’ll keep an eye on that anyways.)

Hello,
For the September Challenge, I built an extensive tram system for my biggest city. As you can see it’s quite unfinished. I plan it to be at about twice the current size. I managed to write a script to create a multimap showing the routes. Unfortunately it works only fine for this network. The trouble is, that tram routes usually share tracks and I cannot show more than one colour per line. It’s ok here, as I gave the lines priorities: Red tangentials are always shown on top, coloured radials below that, and at the bottom are the lettered cross-city-lines, which are all dark gray. It works for the stops anyway. So it could work for an yother network, but the tracks would be in only one colour then.

For the October challenge: I got bored. I mapped some livestock anyway…

A few days ago, I thought: “The northern coast doesn’t look good. Something has to be done!” So, the November challenge came just in time.
There will be a coastal tram line like the one in Belgium. There will be three cities at the coast: Rhynlly, Shannondale, and the Port of Port Lewis. (Some renaming would also be nice.) These cities will have small tram networks connected by the coastal tram. Further away from the coast will be motorway 10. I also have lagoons and other fancy stuff in mind, but obviously they can’t all be at the same place. So, there will be a bit of planning first and then it will take some days until construction begins…
Hey guys,
Im new, and i own UL108d, or Litvania. 2 things:
1.)Im hvong problems with JOSM, and this is urgent, so i need help. Whenever i dpwnload the data from the OGF server, it dosent show up a map, but a grid of red crosses. Ive made sure all the settings are correct, and they are.
2.)I am a bit dissapointed, because its been 3-4 days since i changed the name of my territory, and its still not changed.(Sorry if this offends the admins, however i am a bit impatient)
Anyway, a wiki will be up soon, so youll be able to know more about my nation sometime this year/month.
Is their a radio call sign convention or plan?
During the past few weeks, Oscar and I have worked together on the project of the Uletarephian Union (UU) and a few other things.
We named that sea the Ilemian Sea / el Mar Ilemia / I Tale Ilemia, from the classical Hellanisian word that means calm/peaceful. We also named that straight the Stephanian Straight / el Estrecho de Estefania / I Esteno Stefanê, according to the names of the towns on both sides.
Now let’s dive into the main project :
The Uletarephian Union
History
The UU was founded in the late 1980’s by Egani and Pohenicia (and another country?) as the result of a will to cooperate, to create mutual support between the economies and the politics of these countries, giving more power and rights to the citizens. A few of the institutions that were created in the beginning were gradually separated from the UU and became international institutions managed by the UU and the Assembly of nations.
Organization
The Uletarephian Union is organized around two legislative chambers, one committee and several institutions.
The Uletarephian Parliament
The members of this chamber are elected by the citizens of the countries. They are placed in the parliament according to their political party. The parliament is composed of 450 deputies who are replaced every 4 years by new deputies. They can’t be reelected more than twice.
- The members of the parliament submit laws, suggestions and protocols.
- They oversee the projects and make sure that these projects comply with the laws.
- They accept or not the projects and suggestions from the Uletarephian Assembly.
- It is situated in Pohenicia, in Puerto Elisabeth, in the district of finance.
The Uletarephian Assembly
I see no options about exact angles/spacing on roads. How do I make a grid? :)
Hey Guys, how are you all?
So with user ,William’ having introduced his idea of an EU, European Economic Alliance style project, I thought: What place would an organisation like Nato have in our OGF-World. Historically Wars mostly got the way the got because of nations being allied to each other, having been prominent in WW1 and 2, and especially the Cold War. So was just thinking what impact would large organisations like these have had and still have on OGF-World or wouldnt a cold war type of scenario have been as present in this world? Just Stuff for thought guys. Happy Mapping
Hello, I came across this site and I am really exited to start editing and I have lots of Ideas and plans. But I’m not sure how to. I have got JOSM and have the OpenGeoFiction server connected and I also I have the OpenGeoFiction map on there. But I have no idea how to add roads and stuff like that. If anyone could help me It would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
Hello, everyone.
I have been doing a lot of reading about other people’s countries and creations. I love that there are so many clever and unique things on the site. I thought I’d offer a proposal to enhance cooperation among everyone a bit while providing a possible starting point for future endeavors. My proposal is about the structure (not origins) of the Christic faith in this universe. First, I recognize that nothing stirs the pot more than religion, so I wade into this very carefully. I offer this idea as a means of allowing a lot of flexibility into what we currently have and looking forward to what might evolve. I also know that there are strong opinions about this.
Currently, there are two claimants to the “Catholic” Papacy: Peritan City (essentially a Vatican-like state surrounded by Darcodia), and St. Richards, Pretany. Peritan City does not have a history online, but I’d assume that the intent was something akin to our RW situation with the Vatican. The papacy in St. Richards is said to have been founded in 1373 or 1378, depending on the page, and helped the spread of the Christic movement via the Nortian Clearances. (Side note: the Nortian Clearances would have had to happen much earlier, as was acknowledged on the talk page; this might effect the date of the papacy being established there.) The catholic claimants don’t address other Christic branches, such the Elekan branch of Egani (seems like RW Eastern Orthodox), Maurit Orthodoxy in Mauretia (RW Coptic/Oriental Orthodox), or other places (RW Protestantism). Of course, another issue to be considered is the breadth of the Christic faith across Uletha and the diverse ways each country was founded–not just the different branches.
In an effort to not pin things down too much, my proposal is summed up as this:

http://wiki.opengeofiction.net/wiki/index.php/Antarephian_Alliance
The Antarephian Alliance (AnA) is a politico-economic union of two member states that are located primarily in Antarephia. The AnA has developed an internal single market through a standardised system of laws that apply in all member states. AnA policies aim to ensure the free movement of people, goods, services, and capital within the internal market, enact legislation in justice and home affairs, and maintain common policies on trade, agriculture, fisheries, and regional development.
The principal decision-making body is Antarephian Council.

Hello all, just making a Diary entry to ask if anybody knows what some certain structures are;
https://www.google.co.uk/maps/@23.6269768,90.440747,1569m/data=!3m1!1e3
It’s those smokestacks everywhere along the river near Dhaka. I’ve also seen them used in the Middle East as well, but I am not sure at all what they are. It looks like they are used in farming, but I can’t be sure. Does anybody have any idea?
So for the past few weeks I’ve been obsessed with this show called ‘RuPaul’s Drag Race.’ Then it hit me that we only have car drag racing in OGF, not so much for queer drag racing. So welcome the Race with Grace! If anyone wants to create a franchise of the show in their country, feel free to write on the talk page.
Has anyone tried to create a map of the OGF world in a better projection? Right now, all I’ve seen is the standard Mercator projection. But I’d love to see a more accurate representation of how the world looks. Perhaps a Robinson? Or a Goode would maybe be better? Since Aiau is in the south polar region, the Mercator really distorts its size… :/
I suppose this is less of a tangible map or wiki issue and more one of practicality. I recently have been spending some time on and off working on Fort Elwood Military base in Freedemia (see here). So far it’s going good, though progress has been slow.
However, I’ve come to face one predicament.
Multiple exits, same street, different destinations…?
As you’ll see on the map, the Freedemia Military Center (aka Fort Elwood) is largely connected by two main roads, Military Parkway (a trunk road through the base and back up to Fort Elwood (city) ) and the Elwood Arthur Jacobs Memorial Expressway, a sort of mini-freeway that connects the M-113, M-13, and the U-4 to the base while also connecting within the base.
However, Military Parkway does a lot of bobbing and weaving, often over or under the Elwood Arthur Jacobs Memorial Expressway. This in itself is fine. It is actually a great thing. It’s a major road and the only real efficient through route in and through the base. Every exit to the highway from the Elwood Arthur Jacobs Memorial Expressway is very important, as each serves a different part of the base, or in the case of the northernmost Military Pkwy exit, areas just off base. Each exit serves a different purpose and is integral for access and traffic flow.
But this leaves me with an odd situation- I have 3 almost back to back exits all labeled Military Parkway. In fact, all of the exits closest to and on base repeat due to the EAJ Mem. Expressway’s loopy shape…
To list out the exits:
*Harris Blvd (hasn’t been mapped yet)
*Unionway 4
*Military Parkway
*Military Parkway
*Naval Parkway
*Naval Parkway
*Military Parkway
*Unionway 4
*Harris Blvd (hasn’t been mapped yet)
*West Blvd, etc (no problems beyond this point)
I’d imagine that without a better system here this would be amazingly confusing for drivers, and I don’t know how to fix this problem. Any ideas?
I’ve been planning to post this for some time now but only today have I been satisfied with the quantity of what I’ve built.
Background stuff (Skippable if you don’t want to read)
I decided not to start with an area ‘in the middle of nowhere’ because I prefer to work towards a certain goal and not expand outwards indefinitely, with no end in sight. Naturally for me, the place to start was Plowford, a town I have been working on for around a month now. The area I worked on was rather small compared to the scale I normally used. I’ve somehow decided to go beyond bare streets and instead map out every individual building and landuse in the area I was working on, which can be found [here] (http://opengeofiction.net/#map=17/52.05317/128.99021).
When the new challenge was announced I was slightly hesitant at first to deviate from suburban Plowford out of the fear that a rural landscape may have turned out similar to my botched attempt at mapping the countryside surrounding Harcourt (you’ll need to zoom in). After seeing multiple users post high quality work this month I decided to give it a try and see how much I have improved after my mapping of Harcourt.
The challenge
I chose Northern Plowford , not a truly rural environment but rather a location that is touches and overlaps the rural-urban fringe. I adapted my small-scale approach I used for southern suburban Plowford. and mapped in the north of the town in the same fashion. In my opinion, I think zoom level=16 is the optimum scale to view my work, as it gives an appropriate level of detail without having to scroll around too much. I’ve attempted to go into the geographical history of the place, an aspect of mapping I like to do.
Points of interest: (Best viewed at zoom 16)
I say sort-of because whether it counts as ‘rural detail’ is debatable - but I’ve created some motorway services. These seem to be overlooked in a lot of the OGF world but are essential to any highway network.
Poiylka Services http://opengeofiction.net/#map=17/52.73744/110.02317
The access is slightly unusual as the facilities serve both sides of the A20 and also act as a junction for the nearest village. Land could not be acquired on the opposite side, and traffic is light enough not to require doubling of facilities. The service area is one of the smaller ones on the Karolian motorway network
The services have a sit-down buffet restaurant, a fast-food outlet, a cafe and a general store. Toilets, drinking water and showers are available (the first two are legal requirements in Karolia) as well as WiFi, an interactive traffic information point and an old-fashioned phone, There are 10 spaces for electric vehicles with charging points as well as a fuel station for all vehicles. The lawn at the rear of the building has a children’s playground and a picnic area as well as information about the landscape and wildlife of the region. A motel with meeting rooms has recently been built on the site. KAP, the Karolian breakdown service, have a tow truck based here too.
If you’ve built any, show us your motorway or highway services.
Hey, everyone!
Now that I’m on OGF for a few months I think it is time to “think out loud” and share some ideas and projects.
I’ve requested a country some time ago and I’ve been working on it. Real life got realy complicated so the progress is not at full rythm. However it gives me some time think and dig deeper on the projects I want to do in OGF.
For now the project is Nelyto City, the third largest city in Yuris. I’ve decided not to star with the capital city because I want to make it a “special” and in a more complex and large way. So, by doing other cities and building other parts of the coutry I hope to get more bases to the “Big Plan”.
Nelyto is the first project of a hole country that I want to build. I’ve already done the basic structure of the city and outlined its history. Now, inpired by other users’ projects (like QUARTA, Trevers Metro and others), I’m developing the public transportation system of the city in the map itself and in the wiki (I’m realy excited with wiki, although when I joined the OGF community I thought I would not dedicate much time to the wiki).
I don’t want to make this post much longer so, here is what I have so far! :D
I hope you enjoy! Best regards!
- Yuri Yhlmacof
P.S. Sorry if there are any errors in the writing… I don’t speak english many times, so it is likely that there is a lot of them :S
History
As one of the first cities of the country and one of its main harbours, Nelyto is a very rich city in terms of history. The foundation of Nelyto goes back to the contruction of Castelo de São Francisco (Saint Francis Castle). Over time, the city began to expand, firstly by adding a new wall to the city and then by expanding outside the walled city.
Hello, everybody.
In response to Luciano’s challenge for the month, I have decided to do some work in the diocese of Lalla Maga, in the northeastern portion of Mauretia along the Raiden border. I realize that since this is my first diary entry, I should probably introduce a bit about my country first:
Mauretia is a small nation in eastern Uletha between the Gulf of Volta and the Gulf of Preya. It is a fairly well-developed country of about 7.57 milllion people with a proud people and long independent history. The nation is monarchy with power split between the monarch and a strong parliament. The Mauroi speak Maurit, so street and building names are shown in the native language. A few important places in particular would be school buildings (esqolam) and churches (eqliciam). Since the rivers (fluvam) are not navigable far inland, many of the nation’s major roadways (viam) date back hundreds, if not nearly two thousand years. Their alignment may have evolved over time, but the function remains the same.
Hey, everyone! I’m pretty sure by now most if not all of you have heard of QUARTA, Quentinsburgh, Freedemia’s transit system. You may have also noticed that most of my pictures were handdrawn with the exception of some awesome renderings that Sarepava helped me with a while back.
But, I just took some time to try and make a better bus illustration. Using my amazing editing skills XD (JK, I’m actually pretty terrible at it but hey, for Google Drawings and auto-shapes I think I did a pretty good job) I got the following picture. If any of you had ever wondered what a real QUARTA bus would look like in Downtown Quentinsburgh, here it is!!

Hey, folks, I’m building a theme park in Neo Delta (here: http://opengeofiction.net/#map=14/-56.9193/136.3614), but I realized it became to large and I don’t want to delete everything and start all over. I’m new to JOSM, I rarely use it, but I would like to know if there is a way to select several items in JOSM and shrink them all together! Maybe it is very easy, but I couldn’t find it at first!
Thank you!! :)
