Hello everyone, I recently started to add some platforms to the stations of my small local rail network(still in Commonia) and I encountered a small problem: railway platforms rendering above buildings, which I placed around the station for testing purposes. This is not a problem with stations above ground, but gets in the way if you decide to have your main railway line running underneath the city center. I know lots of people get around this with metros by having only one line representing both tracks, but that looks out of place if the rest of your line is above ground and mostly has two tracks.

Hey there everyone,

I have serious trouble with uploading coastline changes. It has now been 6 days since I’ve updated my coastline and removed the “San Mateo” stroke west of Trevers, and made it an island instead. Yet, everytime I open JOSM, I can see the multipolygon of the island, it all looks okay, but the OpenGeofiction map simply won’t update it.

Also, I’ve been changing the river Ansy after a correction that it’s not logical. So I made it logical. Now the path of the river is clearly visable, cutting through the land how it was before. The coastline should be changed here too. Again: JOSM shows it everytime, OGF simply won’t.

Therefor I’ve also been updating many of my suburbs with streets, buildings and more. It updates almost immediatelly and it’s correctly shown.

This is really a struggle after I’ve waiting for 6 days; I’ve been looking for breaks in the coastline, I’ve checked my relations and tags of the coastline, but it’s really hard working when my coast is not shown correctly.

So I wondered if anyone had some kind of fix or knows how this is possible. Would really help me.

Hi everyone, I consider central Troie to be finished (it has voluntarily no tram net nor metro net).

You can connect your country or city to Troie by :

=> the passenger ferry terminal (http://opengeofiction.net/#map=16/-17.8325/21.4163)

=> the International airport (http://opengeofiction.net/#map=15/-17.7574/21.4712)

Hello everyone.

I was just thinking about the history of the OGF planet. (We really do need a name for it!) It occurred to me that it could be quite interesting to expand the OGF universe a bit. It would be very interesting to do a geological history of the planet, and have a series of maps illustrating the positions of the continents throughout time.

I was also wondering how far the OGF universe extends. Are the real-life planets still with us, with the OGF world replacing Earth, or is the OGF universe completely different to our current one, and if so, how much different?

Hello,

i’m the owner of Hyildien in nothern Uletha and i don’t really like the name for the sea that is south of my country… Great North Sea. Especially when the ocian north of Hyildien is called the Northern Ice Sea. It would be nicer if Great North Sea had a better name, something that comes from a name of the region, or a nice historical name. The peninsula that Hyildien is located is called The Moniranian Peninsula but i don’t think if we should use that word for the sea. Does someone have an idea?

Hello folks!

This is my first diary item since I’ve started a few months ago and since I was quiet lately, this seemed like a good thing to start off with.

About 2 months ago – after I’d been playing with some functions and mapping patterns first, I started working on my first real big city: Trevers.

Trevers will be the state capital of Verona, and will also be the second largest city in Paroy. It will be home for over 2 million inhabitants, with a metro area of around 6 million.

The city has many faces, as it is the first city founded by the Ingerish in Paroy, but at the same time is the large lively economic hub with a big focus on tourism and also industry.

The military base in the northwest (Fort Mantess) may seem a little odd in an urban area, but is – together with the Port Melwick harbor, one of the colonial pieces that still remain in the modern city.

It’s not finished at all, only the structures in the city center are there yet. Some parts of the city are already quiet detailed and there are also some random subway lines and a part of a tram network, but it will all expand itself in the coming weeks. At least the “downtown” part of the city looks like a city now and I’m quite proud to share it with you now. The rest of the suburbs are still nodes on the map. These will be built in the coming time.

If you want to take a look, it’s right here –> http://opengeofiction.net/#map=12/-16.9524/27.7573

Please let me know what you guys think of it, if you’ve got any suggestions for additions or changes, so I can take the advice in the further construction of Trevers.

As my main project is in my mind a former colony of Commonia, I have been putting together a rough sketch of Commonian history, mostly focusing on the 1900s to now, along with the rumored Great War. I’ve put it up as a sandbox article on the wiki here.

As Commonia is ‘public property’, I don’t want to make anything official without letting the community look things over, so please look things over and let me know what you think about things.

Hello:

Any general or specific comments on my country of Glaster? All places, except Ellmouth and Stewhampton(generally), are far from finished, and will require much more work to complete. Feel free to have a browse around, and you can even add a few things if you want to. Just make sure I know. (You may need to zoom out to see the whole country).

The wiki page is here: http://opengeofiction.net/wiki/index.php/Glaster

Thanks

Regular users may have noticed that I have slowly but surely been deleting objects from the old Karolia territory in mid-Archanta. As today is Foundation Day in Karolia, it seems like a good time to talk about proposals on the future of this territory.

My favoured solution for the land once the old objects are removed is for it to become a community territory, with a history as a former Karolian colony. Other than the climate, which is desert, savannah or tropical rainforest, most other details are completely open. It is likely that the country would have a low population density, have Karolian or Romans as a widespread second language and be a developing country. Tea and coffee plantations would be a likely industry, as might fuel and mineral extraction.

  • Arataran will be remaining where it is.

  • Any alterations to the coastline will not affect the paths of shipping lines.

By the way, I cannot get the country name to display at any zoom level in the new location territory despite copy-pasting it there from the old one.

Hello everybody,

some of you ask me about permition for your country to be former colony of Ingerland. For all your requests my answer will be positive, so there’s no need to do it )) You can edit wiki page of Ingerland and add your country into the list of former colonies. Also there’s the page Timeline of Ingerish colonial history to fill it by significant dates and events concerning the colonial relationship with Ingerland.

I don’t think much about historical affairs, but I would like to finish all battles for independence from Ingerland to extreme date of 1980.

Best regards, Andy

Hello all,

After my discussion about language in my last post I asked the admins if I would be able to move my nation from southern Archanta to NW Uletha for reasons of historical, linguistic and cultural continuity.

The very kind Luciano has agreed to move Mercia this weekend to a spot 100km off the coast of Ingerland and Scandmark and deal with the scaling issues that come with moving a country so far north.

I have decided now would be a good time to change the name of my capital from Elmham to (the more pleasing) Dunwic. I have edited the Wiki and I will edit the mentions on the map at some point this evening.

I am looking forward to making connections with my new Ulethan neighbours and to writing more history and culture for my little island nation.

I just thought that it would be quite nice to build an island “bridge” between our “old world” and the “new world”. When you look on the map, there is half of such a bridge between ER139 and the eastern shore of Norðurland. It would be nice if this island arc would be a liiiiiittle longer, so that it might come quite close to Norðurland’s shore.

I don’t imply that those islands must belong to Norðurland or to ER139; it could also be a third, completely new country. What do you think?
