The IFWC has ended. Congratulations to Mariana and Castellán for getting 1st and 2nd respectively.
Most of these were ranked randomly, starting with randomized teaming, then randomly playing against each other. However, teams that had demonstrated a large amount of interest were a bit more likely to progress. I deliberately had Freedemia lose round two so others could progress.
Basically the championship would have been very close, and instead of the normal games where someone won by reaching 10, since you have to win by 2 the score would have been 17 to 15 because it was such a close game.
Hi there, I’m still alive. I’ve been ill recently, so I’ve been not editing so much recently. I hope to continue mapping soon.
Hello my fellow OGF-ers, I’ve got several things to say today, so I’m just gonna work them off in a list.
1.) As some of you may have read already I’m planning to have my country be somewhat 1950s/ early 1960s retro like. Following this I received some feedback from you that it should be guided by a proper backstory . Following a lot of evenings of thinking (and diet coke) I came to conclusion to have it be like this: Up to the late 40s everything goes its normal path down. After a possible war/threat scenario, Pasalia even considers using the nuclear weapons it build. This would then lead to a ‘cold war’ situation and, even more important, a large uproar around the world. This again would lead to some countries setting up anti-pasalia rallies which would somewhat isolate it culturally from the outside. Now the 50s thing comes into play which would cause the country to stay in that certain way for longer than usual, with only slowly making progress. After the whole thing cooling down in the late 60s/70s maybe (?), it starts becoming more modernized, but meanwhile the population has found the way everything so nice they choose to keep many aspects of it. Now that is where someonee of you could get the big role: First of all like always your feedback, opinions and nagging is always appreciated :p Second: Anyone of you wanting to be a part of this as the big bad nation?
Aside from that: I’m currently also busy with creating ‘Futuria City’ which is a planned city build in the 50s,60s and possibly into the 70s even. Imagine it a bit as a mix between real Brasilia and La Defense in Paris. Any companies wanting to have a office in a cosy skycraper with added parking garage? Currently looking to fill up the downtown area.
Sooo…what do you guys think,hm?
Greetings -kingfries
Anyone else finding ogf wiki offline? It said something about the server being offline.

For each country so we can make a cohesive climate map of this planet. Thanks. :)
I Am working on a map of a Fictional Urban sprawl, the map is realistic like OGF. On Average how many City Blocks = 1 Mile?
I am taking the old ramps that Ūdilugbulgidħū removed highways from and added placeholder towns to them.
Also, my keyboard is not happy today 😞
Well, i did something wrong and name of Quartia (aka Kwartia) region of Antharia isn’t showing on the map. I put a name tag in it, as in all other tags. What’s wrong with it? Any ideas? btw. doing these divisions was scary, i throught that i’ll break all country borders in the area. But it turned out well :D .
I’ve now finished the small town of Harcourt. It is a rather small town of 8000-9000 people. The town is, in fact, the largest town in Glaster without a rail link, with the southern section closing in the late 60s and the northern part in the early 80s after a period of decline.
I’ve been practising drawing the transition from urban-rural. I hope I’ve got it right. Please feel free to evaluate my work!
Thanks
Yuanls
PS: sorry for the lateness, I wrote half of it at night on my phone before falling asleep, so I didn’t finish it.
Did you ever consider using Decimal Time for your imaginary country? I’m seriously considering to use it. Because our 7 days/24 hours/60 minutes/60 seconds system is simply … stupid. Ok, partly my personal point of view.
It came to my mind when I was browsing some of my very old projects. See my Decimal Time display here
Happy mapping! joschi81
Does anyone use Simcity 4 for makeing Realistic Citys? I have been playing Simcity 4 for 7 years and its realy fun with NAM
Hello everyone,
I’m drawing a zoo in my city Morros in Balonis now. I found one problem: which animals do we have in OGF and where? Can someone help me with this?

Hello everyone,
I’ve created a flickr account where I will post updates about my projects on OGF. If you want to see this, you can follow me. If you have any suggestions for me, you can also post them there.

Hello :) The new Air Réamel airline company is looking for new destinations for international connections through the continents. It provides passengers and cargo flights. It counts two hubs in Réamel: the Melle-Mendaya International Airport and the Fini-Peio V International Airport .

I cannot figure out the ramp design and left exit arrangement of this viaduct skyway. the ramps cross over themselves to the left-handed driver direction prior to coming to intersecting roads, and these ramps cross over each other which seems like an engineering nightmare. In order to allow for these ramps the viaducts would have to be extremely high to allow for two levels of crossing ramps and then a boulevard beneath that. I am also wondering what the purpose of the tandem boulevard along this corridor. Was this designed this way just because it looks cool or because it has some actual functionality. — http://opengeofiction.net/#map=17/18.77812/88.97672
When it comes to freeways/motorways. left exits should be avioded at all times. only in rare situations would a left exit be an option. Additionally the Spaghetti Maze ( http://opengeofiction.net/#map=17/18.81450/88.97951 ) interchange at A-1 and A-9 has been modified to have a ramp for free flow on to every side street rather than terminating some ramps to a traffic signal as the interchange was originally designed. all of these ramps could in practice cause driver confusion and also creates an engineering nightmare for civil engineers. Again it seems like a bit of creative overkill if you ask me.
Thirdly there are a TON of very closely spaced freeways here as well. some spaced less than one mile from each other. Again just wondering about the need for that many closely spaced freeways.
Hello everyone,
I’ve created a page for the Calle Prinicpal in Balonis City on th wiki. However, I would like to add an infobox on the page. Is there an infobox for roads on OGF wiki? If not, maybe someone could make it (I’m not very good in making infoboxes)

A layer from JOSM is currently uploading which outlines the river systems and jungles of central Commonia. Its a big file and will take a while, and I don’t know how it will turn out yet; I’m expecting a few glitches, which I will sort out as soon as I can. The rivers are partly based on rivers that were already there, partly new, but I haven’t removed any rivers, only re-used previously drawn sections in slightly different ways, to make them a bit more logical - to me anyway. I have tried to base them on river patterns in the Amazon and Congo, while using what was already there. The jungle fits in between many of the river multi-polygons. Although there will be a lot of landuse=wood there will still be plenty of places for people to build in central Commonia.
As part of Luciano’s challenge (which I’ve already failed) I’ll also alter some of the 100s of km of straight-line roads in Commonia, as I check through the upload data, either replacing them with other forms of transport or making them more realistic by adding curves, etc.
Hello everyone,
just a quick question; I’ve downloaded the latest ogf-backup an hour ago (18th April), and, as I usually do, cropped and transformed it into an osm file with the size of my country using osm convert. Only that while editing on JOSM, I’ve noticed that there were some unconnected and untagged points here and there. Comparing with the browser map, I’ve found that all of them either were tagged with railway=station or place=town or place=suburb;they were all still as they used to be when I looked through the browser editor, so the problem occurred either with the data set itself or during converting. If I had uploaded my “changes” from JOSM to OGF, I’d have done quite some damage to Kojo and adjacent territories.
Usually I’d just think that the data set is impaired, but at least its size looks very reasonable, 191mb, and I wonder why it’s only such a very limited number of objects that’s affected? It would be great if another mapper could check if they have similar issues with the newest backup file, and I just have to wait for the next file, or if it relates to osm convert :)
Cheers,
Leonard
