Can someone pleeaaassseeee help me? or at least send me some sort of tutorial that explains how to do it well? Its REALLY STARTING TO ANNOY ME that i cant get these dumb relations correctly. I have created relation deleted them, left out things, etc… i think it need cleaning by a proffessional. Not me. I cant even map river realistically.

I think i have badly messed up the neighboring countries rleations aswell, so @Nikolia i a, sorry if i did so.

Dear Diary,

After 9 days of emailing the admin, I finally got my own nation!!! Working on West Bay, the soon-to-be cap city. Still learning the teniques. That’s all.

So i really want to have this town, Záhorská Bystrica in Litvania. I want it on the other side of the Micheny mountains.

Its name really means “behind the mountainous-bystrica”.

Unfortunately it is a 2,500 people settlement in Slovakia. Can we make the exeption?

Hello, dear OGF-community. After a hard time in life, I am looking forward to get active in OGF again. At the moment I am working solo on an own country, which is still located in Commonia, but which I want to move later on. I can’t really promise to finish it and so I thought, it would be a good idea to create it in Commonia, instead of having an own territory and then never finish it. Today is was busy at reworking the Malinton Delta in Gobrassanya (May still need some time to update). What do you think about it?

# Community-owned vs. privately-owned collaboratives

From this point forward, we wish to introduce some collaboratives that are community-owned, where ‘admin’ is listed as the owner and will appoint a user (or users) to serve as the territory’s coordinator(s).

A coordinator for a community-owned collaborative:

• must develop the territory for the benefit of the community, working as a team with other active mappers there;
• cannot make the territory private, closed, etc;
• should find ways to include any well-qualified mappers who wish to participate;
• will consult with admin before any major changes (decisions can be vetoed by admin); and
• may be replaced by admin if necessary.

Official vs. unofficial collaboratives

In addition to distinguishing between community-owned and privately-owned collaboratives, we will also distinguish between official and unofficial collaboratives.

Behold, here comes my first actually quite useful diary entry…

I implemented a Level0 Editor on my server (Thanks Thilo for the DNS-Entrys) and wanted to share with you how it can be useful.

How to use the Level0 editor to rename things

So, who doesn’t know this, you set up a something, in my example a town, define it’s adminstrative boundarys, name roads after it and use the name in quite a lot of other things. After a while you think that this name doesn’t really fit anymore and you decide it needs a new one. The previous way was to wrangle with the bare .osm-files of JOSM, but now there is a much better way!

Step 1: Using Overpass to find stuff that contains the name

First you need to identify where the name is used so you zoom in on your country on the Overpass-Turbo, here you insert the name like this:

The name: tells the overpass API to look inside all name keys for your name, in my case it would find “Stadtwald Allerswarte” as well as “Allerswarter Verkehrsgesellschaft”.

Hey everyone , how are you folks doing? Just wanted to let you know that I wont be online for some time until long after easter. Like I said recently my laptop broke and I got the confirmation that the Problem was the cooling and some Part inside actually was melting… Pff glad that thing didnt catch fire… So yeah… Won’t be online for some time, Just so you dont think I forgot about ogf. I finished the first city of my new state of Teberia yesterday and I think that I can be a bit proud of my work if I compare it to other’s first cities :)

The city is called Polgiana and it has a somewhat mediterranean style. It wont be the largest city of Teberia, but maybe the second largest after it’s capital, which I will start in the next days.

I have created the cities of Vella Park Coast, Susquehanna City (under construction) the towns of Shoreside, New Carbondale and the village of ocean bay to the nation i removed Ambers Point due to not knowing what to do with it so that area is clear

The eastern part of the city of Solsburg in western Utterland is beginning to take shape. It has a fortress, Fort Merken, which is glowering west, across the water at Fort Solsburg. The two fastnesses used to belong to two different and hostile factions. The western faction tried to cross the river many a time, but always ran up against the ramparts of Fort Merken. These are now clad in parkland, but the riverside street, De Bierkaai, is an obscure reference to this animosity. Fighting “De Bierkaai” means engaging in a futile battle, which you’ll never win.

Hello, I’m very sorry for my inactivity. I’d like to communicate that henceforth, Vinnmark is a collaborative country, mostly due to the fact that I’m having some health problems + school, so even though I’m still into Vinnmark, I don’t have much time for mapping, and I don’t want to lose it.

If you’re interested in mapping Vinnmark, you should know that there are some requisites.

• Don’t map further east than Berles, as a gulf is going to be mapped there.
• Names must look Swedish or Danish.
• Try to keep the Netherlands in mind, with channels, dams and others.
• The southern part of the country should have SOME French names.

If you are interested in contributing, start when you want, but message me when you are going to start.

I’m planning a trip by rail around Europe to celebrate the end of my degree in May. I’ve got an idea of which major cities I’m going to travel to but I’d love to know if anyone had any tips on what to see or any good advice for travelling by rail across Europe.

I’ve made a start on the city of Solsburg, the biggest conurbation I have mapped in the week since I acquired Utterland. Solsburg stands at the southern end of Lake Hetzer, and straddles the mouth of the river flowing into it. The west bank has Fort Solsburg standing proud, surrounded by the old city, still within its ancient city walls. Also contained is Solsburg Cathedral, midway between the Fort and West Burgh Museum. West Burgh used to be the palace for the rulers of Solsburgh. The modern railway passes to the south of the city walls, after crossing from the east. The old railway, now a preserved line, runs from the northern end of the city walls to Woudendijk. This line is not exactly scenic, as it now passes through an industrial estate and under the towering edifices of the West Solsburg power station.

As I start to build the eastern part of Solsburg, I hope to be able to flesh out on the area’s history - which I expect to be very interesting. Solsburg lies only 15 km south of Ligota in Szlunsk and 35 km south of Kirchenburg in Welstand-Westrijk, a border town and a garrison town. Watch this space.

You’ve just witnessed my peak lyrical performance.

Anyways, after finishing the district of Ráj nad Mlžnicí I spent the rest of February mapping in Drabantia’s capital city, Drahns.

I occasionally get angry at myself for placing the city on tip of a peninsula. Especially every time I’m designing public transport connections, road network, etc. and they end up not working. Well, what can I do. Should’ve read the OGF: guides better.

If I had to describe my work in one word, I’d choose ‘chaotic.’ I deleted so much stuff. I started mapping the old town again from scratch. I also discovered drawing your streets as a regular grid might seem easy at first, but causes so much trouble later. I also found out you should probably sketch out the outside connections and other ‘big stuff’ first before going to detail. Again, should’ve read the OGF: guides better, but like hey, whatever. I’m gonna fake it till I make it.

And now for some of the interesting places:

• The old Old Town - it’s the historic city center. Originally founded around year 1300, but most of the present-day buildings are from the 18th century. There’s passages, cozy backyards, ‘authentic’ pubs serving poor quality beer for five times the normal price and kitsch souvenir shops. It’s also a great place for embassies and offices (because no one wants to live there anymore.) If you’re interested in either of these two, just write it in the comments or something.

• The new Old Town - that’s the relevant city center built around 1870. It’s mainly a residential area, but if you’re interested in classicism, neo-renaissance and other architecture styles from late 19th century, you’ll be satisfied too. The controversial neo-gothic cathedral is worth a see, too.

• National Museum and surroundings - this area marks the end of the city center and the start of suburbs. It features a textile factory converted into offices, villas from early 20th century and a dance school.
