Hello!

Over the past few weeks i was getting myself ready to use JOSM for the largest, biggest scale work i have ever done on this website. The district of Riekava. (i was very impatient to share it with you guys)

This region is my favourite in Litvania. Best enjoyed at zoom level 13. Below is some information on this area.

Geography

  • Forests - They cover the majority of the region.

  • Mountains - The region is home to the Svetovidly (world-viewer/seeker) mountains.

  • Wilderness - Wild streams, gently sloping valleys and calm villages and towns are all commonplace here. Also, the soil here, is well not very fertile so animal agriculture is more common than anything.

  • Wateeeeeeer! - This area is the most dense in watersheds in Litvania.

  • Eastern Wildlife Refuge - The second largest of its kind in Litvania, and a very popular camping area, though only in designated places.

Culture

  • Regional Dish - I am yet to come up with something, but i guess it will either be a soup or a lamb meat dish.

  • Language - The Litvanian spoken here is very different to the Loravian (standard) Litvanian. People tend to emphasize vowels.

Places worth seeing

  • Dvojtín Castle - A wonderful castle overlooking the confluence of the Riekava and Hornava rivers, surrounded by the ancient market town of Dvojtín.

  • Hornava - An medieval castle and church were built here, which led many religious Litvanians to travel here, which led the town increasing in size steadily over the centuries. It is a popular spot for believers worldwide.

  • v. n. Riekava - Though artificial, this is a wonderful freshwater lake where swimming is allowed, so it is a nice place to go during the weekend. If you were curious, “v. n.” stands for “vodná nádrž”, Litvanian for “water reservoir”.

This is the format i will use to present my work in the future.

Is there an Interpol-like Organisation in this OGF world, which helps fight International crimes like transnational terrorism like ISIS, International gangs (e.g drug-trafficking), cyber-hackers from random countries attacking other countries etc. and capture big, wanted criminals across continents? The Interpol seeks international police co-operation. Does an AN organisation have already function this same purpose?

I better ask around before setting up this organisation (if there isn’t).

Hello everybody, i made a little help page over at the OGF-Wiki regarding the Nominatim-service i announced in another diary entry.

Thilo thankfully gave my server an DNS-Entry for the OGF-Domain, so instead of using the cryptic hostname from the previous diary entry you can now find the server at nominatim.opengeofiction.net, the port of the service hasn’t changed (The server also provides routing information, that’s why it is also reachable as route.opengeofiction.net).

Thilo also implemented the service on the main-page, so the search-bar in the left upper corner doesn’t redirect you to the Overpass Turbo anymore, and rather should find exactly the stuff you are looking for.

Instead of writing your questions in the comments i would prefer it if you directly write them on the talk-page of the wiki-article (You can comment here anyway, but i won’t comment on questions here, because diary entrys get out of people’s focus really quick and are not searchable at all.).

Kind regards and Happy searching

Just wondering with all the water flowing into Lake Hetzer (western Uletha) nowadays, where is it all going? I gather there was a plan to create a gulf in eastern Vinnmark. Else, we’d have to reverse one of the rivers flowing into it. Throwing it into the group of territories fronting this beautiful lake.

Over the last few months I have come to the conclusion that Tircambry (278K sq.km.) is probably bigger than I really want or feel at home with, so after consulting with admins I have decided to give up over half the territory and concentrate everything into a smaller area. The surrendered territory will become UL148.

The shrunken Tircambry will have a land area of c.127,000 sq.km. - a bit smaller than England or Greece. All the existing provinces and cantrefs (counties) will be bunched up into this space, so the political structure and history will not change. This will be the new Tircambry (in red):

Tircambry new border

I will move the island of Ynyspur so that it remains in Tircambry, and adjust the coastline a bit, leaving a reasonable-sized coast for UL148.

Lots to do … so I had better get started.

Happy mapping!

@Litvania and I have been working together and we came up with what I’d say is a pretty decent historical timeline. However, there’s a little something that is crucial to the whole concept we need approval for. Here’s a brief version of the history concept:

Hey everyone, apparently you can use the OAuth of JOSM now, but it’s only available for people who want to get into the JOSM-Settings…

First you got to click all the checkboxes under http://opengeofiction.net/user/REPLACETHISWITHYOURUSERNAME/oauth_clients/new, enter a any url and fill out the name field. You will get to a page where it says “Consumer Key” and “Consumer Secret”, you got to copy these values into the correspondending fields in the JOSM-Settings. Authenticate and test, you should be done, it works for me.

Happy OAuthing

Hello everyone, it’s the annoying German with questionable Tagging-Policy again ;)

I was wondering if anyone but me would be interested in an OpenGeoFictionRailwayMap, just like there is openrailwaymap.org for the real world. To me it seems that railways are largely ignored, so before I implement something like OGFRM i’d like to know if someone else would be interested too.

For example, so far the only railway-stations with railway:ref are the ones i tagged. There are a few more [railway=rail with ref=](http://osm3s.opengeofiction.net/overpass-turbo/?w=railway=rail AND ref=+global&R) (Don’t cofuse this with railway:track_ref which is used to give a rail a number inside a station, yard or something the like).

If you want to learn more about the OSM-Style of railway-tagging, either ask me a question, write someting in the comments or head over to the OSM-Wiki or use the JOSM-Presets

Kind regards and happy mapping

I started out in Traysville, with the help of Windfarmer and a few other friends which didn’t last long, of coarse we only knew each other over Discord. That project was soon left behind and I stopped playing OGF for a long while. Wen I got back on, Traysville evolved and Larger city’s like Bethesda and South Traysville where added. I decided to find an In-DEV city and help it grow which rapidly cause the formation of Hollman (Margaraths Enclave). Hollman is still In-DEV along with Margarath, and if you are feeling bored come by and add something to Margarath- It sure needs the love! P.S This Entry had to be reconstructed because when I start I set it up as a Role Play format.

Hello, I need some real help with a template I am making. It’s seemed to have screwed everything up and I have no clue what is going on. The template is here (http://wiki.opengeofiction.net/wiki/index.php/Template:Infobox_football_association). I’d be eternally glad if somebody who knows what they are doing can fix whatever it is going on, everything I try to do makes it worse…I have no use in the world of code x3

Hello fellow mappers,

I’ve had the pleasure to once again visit Prague during the last couple of days; hence I wasn’t able to update the wiki main page, and I forgot to do so in advance unfortunately.

One thing I wanted to share with you though was the following two pictures. I stayed in a cheap hostel at the edge of the old town of Prague. To access it, you had to enter a very inconsiderable front door, which led to a rather run-down stair case. All floors but one were occupied by either the reception or dorms, but on the 3rd floor there was the portrayed door, with a small sign declaring this to be the embassy of the Democratic Republic of Congo in Czechia.

My point is, I often find that when we (and this very much includes me) map embassies (especially our own ones) we tend to go slightly overboard, most commonly even assigning a whole building or even building ground with large gardens. While such embassies exist, they are most commonly found only between major countries, or perhaps due to a colonial past etc. Any two medium sized countries (think below 50 mil) that are not even situated on the same continent will usually not have that much demand for diplomatic office space that it would require a whole building. Of course in the end many other factor play into this as well, aside from the wealth and desire for representation of the represented country the general city shape will play into it as well. In the real world, dense European old town centres will be much less inviting for free standing embassy buildings than new world planned capitals such as Washington D.C. or Brasilia, or cities with generally low property prices such as developing countries. But nevertheless, I think I might go back one day and readjust both some Kojolese embassies abroad (coordinating with the respective mappers) and foreign embassies in Pyingshum.
