Aside from creating individual peak/mountain, has anyone tried to map out a mountain range or a chain of mountains? Should I just create multiple peaks and enclose them with a forest or something?
Please offer some ideas.
Thanks.

I find rivers to be one of the hardest things about this project.
Is there any easier way of creating realistic rivers relatively easily? Or is there some sort of guide that can help to create realistic rivers?
If not, would anyone be willing to help me a bit with rivers?
Thanks :)
Today have been mostly improving the depiction of rail lines and stations in the capital city, in particular platform lengths. I am working on the basis of high-speed trains needing platforms 400m in length, commuter rail 200m and metro between 100-150m. The central station (Kastjaam) has several huge double platforms over 500m long to accommodate long-distance trains, or two at a time.
Also added more street detail and the automated light railway in Osmila, which is the peninsula south of the capital (technically an island). This includes possibly the only station in the world to be located in a library, in this case the massive Bibliotekkariika (National Library and archives) in the town. It’s a pity we can’t show the actual appearance as I envisage having the platforms decorated with sculpted depictions of books and newspapers.
I have also started naming more suburbs, in the main vernacular language of Karolian (a mix of the three main Finno-Ugric languages with a little German/Danish thrown in). In other parts of the country a minority speak Románš (Romanian/Italian derived). A job for the future is to add consistent spellings and diacritical marks to places and buildings.
As before Grand lake is open for all creative additions I am especially trying to develop areas north of the city so any one who wants to may make their contributions there. Also south Shore is another area that was recently started by another mapper. looks nice. hope to see more activity there as well.
In addition I will open up the Gallaton City area for minor updates and changes if you would like even though it is part of my territory. please feel free to add any buildings or help construct neighborhoods since it is part of the greater Grand Lake and Gallaton International Metroplex.
A new auto-route numbers as a-140 this does not conform to the numbering schema of the region. it may better to number it as A-114 instead since it is a looping spur. and is connecting A-14
A-140 would actually be a spur from A-40
In addition a new auto-route had been constructed into Arrowic but had not been completed … I completed the interchange. it is possible to extend A-56 northward to travel along the southern portion of AW-14 since it creates a duplicate route number. … please discuss.
with 4 major airports located within a 50 mile swath t is recommended that once the Kenrich international airport is completed that the Pembrook airport become an executive or municipal airport since it is just a few miles from the Kenrich airport and 25 miles from the Carratta airport and also within a short distance of the Puerto Geo airport.
Also I have begun construction of a new bypass of Kenrich metro A 409 which will connect the carratta raegion Kenrich and Pembrook to the new airport.
Additionaly when drawing city streets the nodes should be connected at each intersection any of them are not connected and simply overalap.
I also added some interchanges along the A-9 dual freeway and upgraded a parkway for better service to downtown Kenrich
Is there any easier way of creating motorways that are made of two ways parallel to each other? Or will I just have to create the second way by hand?
Example of what I’m talking about: http://opengeofiction.net/#map=16/57.1453/40.5456
I am currently at the Esri User Conference in San Diego. I have a few fiction maps in the map gallery. Maybe next year we could display a few prints from Open Geo Fiction.
Noob question. How did they do it with the clunky josm tools. No way that was done by hand. The spacing between the points are too perfect. Teach me your trade.

Hi everyone!
I’ve found out that the renderer messes up with my tram tracks. See an example here:
http://www.opengeofiction.net/#map=17/60.64932/21.29207
The tracks seem to be always on the top layer - even if I didn’t add any layer information on them. Is there a possible fix for that?
Greetings, Markus
If anybody is interested, I set up an IRC channel to discuss a bit live.
The adress : irc://freenode/#opengeofiction - I’m JohannG on it. Come on over!
Please use english as your main language. (it’s not my first one either, before you ask! I’m french.)
I would be very nice (and instresting) to have an own taginfo site for OGF.
All the software of taginfo is Open Source.
Would it be possible to set up an own taginfo site on taginfo.opengeofiction.net?
Everyone’s now welcome to fly from Canal International Airport in the Escala-Phoenix-Guntrum-Alexandria metro area in Mecyna…
Don’t do that, please!
First, it’s against Openstreetmap’s licensing terms to use their data without attribution.
Second, I think it’s rather uncreative. That’s not what Opengeofiction is about.
If you import small amounts of data from OSM temporarily to use them as an orientation for object sizes, that’s probably OK. But if I see imported data from OSM to be used permanently then I’afraid that I have to delete them.

I think I’ll be movin the town of Calevin in UL-305 to leave place for the development of the big one around. Anyone disapprove?
What am I missing… I’ve got JOSM setup per the notes in the FAQ. I can successfully download. I can successfully export the data from OSM to a .osm file and then load that into JOSM.
However after movign the data to where I want it now to be and trying to upload I get: “The OSM server ‘http://opengeofiction.net/api/0.6/’ does not know about an object you tried to read, update, or delete. Either the respective object does not exist on the server or you are using an invalid URL to access it. Please carefully check the server’s address ‘http://opengeofiction.net/api/0.6/’ for typos”
Merging layers is the same.
Ideas?
Thanks/L
I encourage everyone to edit within the Pretanic Faction State to make it as hostel looking of a country as possible. Think North Korea or parts of the former soviet union during the cold war. Giant walls, ghettos, etc etc.
The idea for draw this place is work on small features with details, like town, farm, port… don’t plan country wide amenities. Main features will be build in time by connecting small ones. Please don’t add motorway, trunk, airport, nuclear powerplan… We will add this later, like in the real world. Any way, you can add some geographic wide feature (river, mountain, forest), but with details.
The country is european designed, mainly french speaking with probably a south-est spanish speaking community.
Please fell free to contribute after your 2 weeks of purgatory.
I’ve been sitting on an idea I had for a few days about creating a large Metropolitan Area on the southern coast of Gobrassanya spanning from the border, through Kenrich, through a to-be-constructed Port Arrowick into Puerto Geo.
I’ve always started a little bit closer to the border with Alora, mostly residential, but I would like to know what you all think about this idea.
Location for those who don’t know below…
Hello,
I’m new here and I like this website very much. In other geofiction projects my problem always was that I didn’t have the right software to map my country. So this was what I was looking for. I just started building a small Dutch region in Commonia to test my skills (location).
I have a question about this project: I assume this project takes place on a different planet that is similar to Earth in 2014. But does this also mean that the planet have the same characteristics as Earth? So are countries near the equator tropically hot and countries near the poles arctic cold? Do adjacent countries have a common history? In short: Does the location of your territory determine how your territory should look like?
Best, KVh
