I’m not really sure where else to put this so I’ve just decided to put it here, anyway:

Sometimes when I am either uploading or downloading on JOSM, it freezes on the loading bar and stays there and does nothing. Even pressing cancel does nothing. I just end up having to close JOSM from task manager and start what I was doing again (which is frustrating and takes up time). So I haven’t been able to do much work on the map recently.

Also, this does not happen every time and it doesnt happen in the same situations. E.g It happened just now when I was trying to download a little portion of the map, but when I tried again on the same bit after restarting, it worked as normal.

So I don’t know what to do. Does anyone have any knowledge on this or has had the same problem? Thanks

This city needs some major development as well. Since it is the capital city of the district it needs a Capitol. Also it is the twin city to Malinton AV (Alora) and should be about the same size

Currently, the spellings of country names are inconsistent on the map. - I would prefer a uniform scheme. Today there are:

• short names (e.g.: Gobrassanya)

• short names in capital letters (e.g.: LATINA)

• long official names (e.g.: Republic of Alora)

Hereby I propose to use only the short names.

Hi all, I’m trying to develop the new town of Samunta in the Yantia district in Gobrassanya, in the promontory just northeast of Gobras City,

In my mind Samunta should be a medium-sized (e.g. no more than 250.000), peaceful town on the ocean, with also some hilly parts (depending on its backland terrain). It might be linked via a railway line and roads both westwards to Gobras City and eastwards to Artana.

Streets will be named mostly after English/Irish and Gobrassanian/Asian-like names, with also some Spanish or Italian names, in order to fit to the general name schemes I found in towns and cities of other districts.

Any suggestions and contributions on how to further develop Samunta will be appreciated!

Just checking to see if there is any consensus on the idea of renaming the Harley District to a more appropriate Gobrassian sounding name or should we leave it as is.

Here are some important notes regarding roadway design.

Motorways, Freeways, Auto-routes, and the like are dual carriage-ways and both directions of the motorway should be drawn.

streets should be “connected” at intersections. many new cities show them simply overlapped. if it crosses and is not a grade separation (aka bridge tunnel) it should be connected at that point with a node.

If you desire you can add traffic signals to your intersections.

Bridges should not be unnecessarily long. and make sure to place it on the appropriate layer (such as Layer = 1) or where two bridges cross. Layer 1 and Layer 2 for the second bridge that is higher. 3, 4, 5, etc. same thing with tunnels and subways (layer = -1)

I am sure there are more pointers but these are a few to start.

I’m interested to know how you all come up with names for generic streets because I have no ideas.

At the moment I’m just taking random words from my (small) Bayese dictionary and adding “straus” to the end but the dictionary certainly won’t last me very long.

So where do you get your street names from? Do you even name your streets at all?

Would like to set up a dating system on the wiki for easy reference when creating history sections to our wiki. Anyone interested? Also wondering the best way to add photographs on our pages. It’s obviously not possible to take photographs of a fictional lands. Any great artists out there?

The Brythonnic Imperium was created simply to provide a basic map showing settlements whose names are being used in a game elsewhere on the web. As such, the map is perfectly adequate for purpose. However, compared with other ‘cartographers’ efforts here, it’s obvious that my own map-making skills are sadly quite inadequate to the task of adding ‘reasonable’ data to it - other than the very most basic settlement points!

I would therefore like to invite two or three other persons to assist me realise my vision of the ‘State of Brythonn’ & ‘The Europan Polity’ ~ being the two fundamental partners involved in ‘The Brythonnic Imperium’.

Those interested should not mind being directed from quite extensive literature that already exists about many geographic locales in ‘Brythonn’ [short form], and also through further conversation with myself. Good grasp of English will be needed, as some of my/text/prose can be rather dense! LOL.

In Brythonn [and thus presumably all-over this planet the folk of Brythonn name “Opengeo” (so named for the Spacefaring-Ark which transported their antecedents from Earth)] the native fauna & flora are descended from three separate ‘birth of life events’ that occurred virtually coterminously geologically speaking, over two billion local years ago. So Brythonnic folk face a daily battle with alien lifeforms, both domesticated and wild… and there’ll be every opportunity for those accepted to help me build Brythonn ~ to create new fauna & flora as well, marrying it to the landscape they’ll be helping me construct! There will also be much free rein upon where to emplace settlements of all sizes too… I’ve only placed 40 or so, so far - and I have a ‘Gazetter of Brythonnic Place-Names’ that holds over 3200 more (which total doesn’t include place-names from within the Europan Polity, wherefrom I have about another thousand to add!).
