After @eklas ‘ diary entry, i created a page titled “Slevic” for all the Slevic languages to put on as a family. There is just one problem. The name Syrillangan (i am repeating eklas’ words) does not sound normal to the Syrillangan person. However, the other names propsed sound too similar to “Slavs” or “Slavic”.

There is a problem in this because we need to come up with a name that makes sense, isnt biased on Russian spelling, and sounds normal to the Syrillangan person.

Please i would just like to say:

There are multiple linguistic, cultural, religious and mentality differences between West and East Slavs, please do NEVER CATEGORIZE US AS ONE BIG GROUP OF THE SAME PEOPLE. It annoys the hell out of me, and i wanted to emphasize that we are not the same as the Russians. We have different ways of doing things. Including spelling.

Here we can discuss this issue:

I was working in Kirchenburg’s city branding. I think what i love the most about OGF is the oportunity to design for so many different fictional brands and business. I really enjoy it, more than mapping i think haha. I’m thinking about placing a design studio in Kirchenburg which is the one that makes all the design stuff in Welstand-Westrijk. Thinking about calling it Plotter studio. Is not said in Kirchenburg’s wiki page, but the otter is the symbol of the city. It’s on the coat of arms of the city, and the citizens are commonly known as otters. So Plotter studio can be a great name. They’ve made the Brutto supermarket logo too haha.

Here is the Kirchenburg’s city branding use http://wiki.opengeofiction.net/wiki/index.php/File:Usologo.jpg

The colors are the the Kirchenburg’s flag colors. Black, blue, white + yellow (Welstand province color)

What yout think about it? I’m open to work for anyone in OGF designing stuff for their brands, cities, countries, tourism branding, sport, etc

:)

Happy mapping!

Good Afternoon,

Because I have dealt with this problem TWICE in less than a week, I am going to repeat a statement from several of our fellow mappers:

Do NOT edit in someone’s territory without their permission.

If you cannot find a list of ‘open’ or ‘collaborative’ territories,

I understand that you all are new, but please read the rules before diving in to mapping!

Thanks Everyone

Hey Guys!

I would like to announce that; after delivering its first 20 aircraft to a foreign airline(BalonisAir), i am putting up an offer for you guys to select any MIC aircraft of preference (their descriptions and info on the company are here), and use in your airlines on OGF.

I am aiming for MIC to be the OGF version of Airbus, and i wanted to get a headstart in the industry.

Please let me know if you want to order below.

Thanks!

Hello all! I’ve just made my first Bliki Blog on the wiki today (Ohhhhh now I get the name…seriously :P It only just came to me) which should replace somewhat monthly updates on my progress everywhere, offering more opportunity for you all to comment on anything to help or just give positives ^^. February’s entries can all be found in one place! http://wiki.opengeofiction.net/wiki/index.php/User:Aces_California/Bliki/February2017

Updates might be semi-frequent…meaning anywhere between every week to every month.

So, for the past one and a half month I’ve been working on the district of Ráj nad Mlžnicí and now I’m ready to share it with the world. Best enjoyed at zoom level 13.

Below is some info about the region.

Landscape and nature

  • Forests. They cover the vast majority of the region.
  • Hills and mountains. The area is full of cliffs, tall peaks, wild streams as well as peaceful rivers running through majestic valleys.
  • Marshes and swamps. Most of them are under strict protection. They’re home to many endemic animal and plant species.
  • Meadows and pastures The soil is not very fertile, which means animal agriculture is prevalent.

Notable places

  • Teplá nad Křižvou. A lovely town of five thousand inhabitants, known for its old monastery and mineral water springs.
  • Ráj nad Mlžnicí-Šatava. These two times grew into one over time. Ráj is now the capital of the district. Its romantic old town, the Šatava castle and the tall railway bridge attract thousands of tourists each year.
  • Kutry. In case you couldn’t tell, it’s one of the most popular ski resorts in Drabantia. And while Drabantian mountains obviously aren’t the tallest in the world, good service and reasonable prices make it a favorite spot of many.
  • Razníky mountains. The tallest peak, Velký Razník (1562 m), is also the tallest in the country. One would expect the mountains to be a popular winter holiday destination- but most of the range is nowadays a national park and another big portion serves as a military training area.
  • Narrow gauge railway Lotrovice - Šumná na Boravě. The steepest curve on this railway has only about 90 meters in radius. It should have been deconstructed years ago, but thanks to the local train enthusiasts it’s still used for nostalgic steam train rides until today.

Hi, friends from OGF!

After a long time away from OGF (since november 2016), I am trying to come back to edits in OGF.

I get married, I had a very good honey moon in Natal, RN (Brasil) - a place where I got nice pictures to use in OGF soon -, and… I was fired. Since then, I did not have time to OGF, exactly because I was looking for a new job.

Well, as “I think” I found a new job - offshore again, but not better than the last one - I consider there is time to edits in Brasonia, Belgravia, Luslandia and Cariocas right now again, hehehe.

Regards to all!!!

I have been working on Midistland for weeks now. I’ve worked not only on very minor parts of Tengah and Termapolis, but… I created many of the towns surrounding Tengah! That includes… Traysville, Bethesda, and Motorway Island. Please understand that I am experienced, even though I have only been here for a couple weeks. So, I am therefore moving on from the Tengah region in Midistland to Khaiwoon. Khaiwoon is SO perfect. I love everything about it. The cartography, the mountains, the swirves and curves… It’s really cool! So, I am requesting privileges for building with my Khaiwoon friends, isleno. I hope you listen to this, isleno! Thank you! Goodbye.

Hello Mappers!

I am inviting experienced mappers to help with developing New Berles in Drevet into a ‘showcase city’ to encourage collaboration in Drevet and in other parts of the world.

The goal is to establish a small-medium sized city of 250,000 to 300,000 people with a small harbor and a regional/small international airport. The city center was established in the 18th Century and pre-dates modern urban planning.

This project can be broken into smaller chunks. However, work on the historical center, or suburban towns must be the first piece of this project taken on.

New Berles

Many times before, I and other mappers have observed the seemingly excessive popularity of motorways in our world. People seem to like to build them, and there’s nothing wrong with that, but it’s not always terribly realistic (who’s paying for all these motorways?), and I have come to realize that drawing motorways ‘‘first’’, as a kind of “skeleton” for one’s territory, is a fundamentally backwards approach to geofiction - in real life, motorways come closer to ‘‘last’’ than ‘‘first’’ - if they come at all.

So I had this idea. There are some major cities in the world that simply don’t have motorways. I’m not talking about poor cities, either.

One favorite personal example is Winnipeg, in Canada (osm.org/#map=12/49.8837/-97.1729) - a city which I visited frequently during a certain period of my life, although I’ve never lived there.

The city has at least 500,000 residents, but the only motorway is the ring-road, and even that is not fully limited-access for much of its length. There is not single kilometer of limited access highway within that ring road.

Looking at the map, Warsaw, Poland (osm.org/#map=12/52.2254/20.9659) is another interesting example. There appear to be several motorway “approaches” to the city (maybe only one?), but nothing to the center.

Vancouver, Canada (osm.org/#map=12/49.2475/-123.1645) also lacks any kind of motorway access to the core city, although they abound in the suburbs.

And Edinburgh, Scotland (osm.org/#map=12/55.9512/-3.2394), seems to well-developed suburban motorways, but nothing that enters the city proper.

Hello mappers! I have been working on a possible map of tectonic plates in OGF. I would like to know your opinion about it. There are many possibilities for the location of the tectonic plates and the direction of the displacement of these influences the existence of rifts and mountains, as is the case of the central mountain range in Uletha and the high mountains of the north of Castilea Archantea, in the Center of Archanta Major. Espero que os guste. Poco a poco iremos perfeccionando el maravilloso mundo de OGF. Happy mapping!

Tectonic Plates Map

There’s a website in the Czech Rep, where you can watch what’s happening at the Prague Central and Ústí nad Orlicí stations. The videos are given commentary by the announcement lady with an incredibly tranquilizing voice, as recorded from the station building. I find this really interesting (also it’s snowing so the stations look pretty), so I just wanted to share.

Do you know any other cool webcams? Feel free to share!

Enjoy life and happy mapping! George

Kingsbury has been the featured map over the last fortnight, an honour I was delighted to receive.

That said, it can always be better, and so I’ve spent much of the last few days working on adding more details. From buildings, offices, shops, and clubs; the city now looks more filled-in and alive. But i’ve also been working on adding those small things that add reality to a map, and are a reality of city life, such as payphones, pillar boxes, bus stops, and bins. It’s fiddly work, but definitely worth the effort.

My next challenge to resume adding the streets in the various outer suburbs of the city. Something i’m not looking forward to, since getting curvy suburban streets to look accurate has been beyond me so far
