How does one use the Overpass API Query tool to determine all roads within a given relation?
Well it appears that since new territories have been created and inhabited it appears that new motorways have also been laid out. It appears that recently granted territories have motorways mapped on them before any natural feature or even a mere surface route.
I don’t understand what the infatuation with a motorway is anyway. They are expensive to build, take up valuable real estate and they also contribute to blight and sprawl. Having said that I know that they are a necessity in a country that needs to move goods and services.
I was able to get Congress to agree to build a border wall with the southern border. How to get this to render on the map? I used the line and wall functions under JOSM but nothing is showing up on any zoom level.
Does anyone have a good example of mapping good looking resort hotels and/or golf courses/country clubs?
I have a few resort areas that I am looking to spruce up.
OK so after I had my mapping moved from Commonia over to my own territory I am now starting to fix some of the old mapping issues. I am trying to best figure out how to fix this situation in the western part of Prentice County.
I originally mapped this area with US 101 as a coastal North to South route that services this area with a bridge over the Islip River. I also then built a trunk route facility SR 50 (State Road 50) on the north shore of the Islip River to link up Riegerston to the coast with a bridge over the Islip River close to US 101.
Now the issue is this. This would seem to be an expensive venture with an unneeded crossing so close to the other crossing. Also CR 493 (County Road 493) would now seem to overloaded with traffic. CR 493 serves a built up area with upscale homes and shopping areas. This as mapped is the only current way to get to Danica Beach. I think I originally intended to give service to Holloway Beach but ended up mapping Danica Beach as a resort area that would seem to have more folks traversing.
I see a couple of options here. Should i just remap SR 50 to serve the north shore and chalk this up to a mapping error? Should I close off the US 101 bridge and make it a fishing pier and then link a new alignment over to the SR 50 bridge?
I was looking around and it seems that there may be little emphasis on municipal boundaries on OGF. Is this due to the constant nature of being incomplete or is just lack of interest? Is local government something that is not part of OGF?
I have mapped a few with the intent on altering the boundaries as the community expands or even contracts. I have taken in several factors and they have all presented their own character as to the boundaries have been drawn. Some were mapped with my entry level skill growing to a more novice level.
One example in taking in several factors to boundaries lies with the Town of Lakesite Villages. The town name was even factored into this one. I will give an example of how the boundaries which itself is a work in progress and will change as I look at which parcels should not be within the boundaries of the town.
The town was formed as sort of a resistance to forced annexation from the City of Belleville. Belleville came across the Grand Lake shores and onto land on the opposite side of the lake annexing a parcel of land into the city on Farwood Road. The residents of the then unincorporated areas decided to take action and form a municipality of their own to stop the expansion of the Belleville city limits and it’s high tax burdens. The name could not be agreed upon as each lake finger had a subdivision or community name of it’s own. Since there was no consensus as to which name to take they agreed upon Lakesite Villages. The name coming from the number of lake site homes and the amalgamation of the various communities or “villages” though not actual villages as incorporated communities.
The residents drew the boundaries to stop the influx of the City of Belleville but also to allow those that were adamant from not becoming a part of the town. Hence there are several enclaves or doughnut holes also called islands. Further annexation measures were taken as to also stop the influx from the town to the south, Sheffield Court House.
The boundaries are a work in progress as I am deannexing some parcels to be more realistic to the situation which does in fact have some real world parallels. With the project you will see that one subdivision may have been annexed into the town avoiding other parcels of land to get to the subdivision whilst trying to have some continuity of the limits as to not have parts of the town that are not connected no matter how convoluted.
I do realize that this is a somewhat large area without much mapped but if you take the issue into consideration you will understand that the parcels are large and there are large homes and open space in the town limits. I am working on mapping some additional infrastructure. I am sort putting the cart before the horse on this one I know.
Yes I know the name of the city is in no way original. Can someone advise the population estimate of the city? With this city I am looking at how things were when motorways were being designed and constructed.
It appears that surface routes are being replaced with motorways in the northern end of Commonia. Many such of these routes have been around for a long time. What is the obsession with such an over utilization of motorways anyway?
I map out routes that were original routes then go back in map out new alignments. There are some instances wherein I map out both a new highway but then envision an old alignment or business route as well.
Someone flooded Commonia.
It looks like the Northern border was vandalized once again. I tried to fix it. I am not sure if I fixed correctly to render.
The flood waters have returned. Can someone dry out Commonia?
Is their a radio call sign convention or plan?
I think I flooded Commonia again.
Looks like Commonia is flooded. I think I caused it up on the NE Coast on the Northern Reagan border. I was trying to fix some of the issues there from earlier today. I though I had a file on file for the area but couldn’t find one.
It looks like Commonia is flooded again. I think I may have done it this time.
It appears that maybe an old version of the coastline has been updated. Several miles of land are now underwater. The whole City of Belleville is underwater.
Well Commonia is flooded again. I hope it wasn’t me but I did have issues earlier today when I was editing.
Well since there was a request for help with an airport the other day I thought I would ask for assitance for one as well. The airport as it is mapped now somehow does have a taxiway error that I don’t remember rendering. At any rate I am speaking of the actual terminals, runways and correct taxiways.
Any comments would be helpful.
Why is that when I try to draw up more elaborate rivers the islands seem to disappear on OGF? They show up in JOSM. Does anyone know how to get the islands to render?
Can someone please reverse the flood.
