Would it be safe for me to assume a specific country as the official parallel to a real world place if another future country will come with that intent?
As an example, I am assuming that Ataraxie is the parallel of France since there is no other parallel currently in existence. In the future though, there will be a future parallel (UL141 I believe) for it. So is it safe in this case for me to assume that Ataraxie is the “France” of OGF and write a history based on Ataraxie being “France”?
(PS on the wiki page for a proposed war in the past, I placed Bélice in one Pot specifically against Ataraxie as it was seen as the imperialists that were the closest to Bélice culturally like USSR against Russian empire in the rw)

Idk, to me it seems that if UL141 is the parallel of France, then Ataraxie can’t be the parallel of France. But I’m not really sure how much this limits you. Even if you aren’t the parallel of France, Ataraxie can still have colonies, can still have a revolution etc… Whether Ataraxie is a colony of UL141 or some weird happenings mean you two have very similar languages is something which needs to be worked out (based on its location, it doesn’t make sense for UL141 to have colonies) but a colony can still have their own colonies (the US kind of had colonies in Philipines and Liberia).

I would avoid writing any detailed history that most probably needs to be updated relatively soon. However, even with the risk of overwikification, I think UL141 could be briefly mentioned in history writing as the original Franquese-speaking country. This would be the lesser evil, if the alternative is a massive rewrite.
Note that the wiki-article [Franquese] (https://wiki.opengeofiction.net/wiki/index.php/Franquese) is outdated and has links to several lost countries. Rewriting this article should be a priority. Also, strangely, Ataraxie is not mentioned in it. Neither is Franquese mentioned as the official language of Ataraxia.

I agree that if you want to mention any history related to a France-equivalent nation, you can briefly mention UL141. I suggest setting a sandbox or something for that part of history, if you want space for writing an elaborate history.
Something I dont get about the Franquese page. How is Pretany involved if today’s Pretany does not really speak French?

Commonia is NOT China. Though it uses Chinese characters as names, it does not mean it is ‘China’ because there are also languages in the RW that also uses the Chinese script. There will be a more realistic (Democratic?) China somewhere in OGF in the future, I hope.
Mazan (or UL137) may or may not be Arabia. There is certain disputes on making it Arabic in a European neighbourhood. Though it can be safe to assume it may be an Islamic nation inspired by the Middle East (I hope, this is just my assumption).

Indeed, there are 2 lost countries on the wiki page (which I should probably clean up) and the Wiki page has only been edited to add countries in.
I think I will add it into a sandbox and instead of calling it UL141, maybe I’d refer to it as the closest thing that would make sense (Like Ingerish to Ingerland), which is Franq, or The Franquese Republic. Otherwise I’ll just leave it as UL141.
On the note of Pretany, I don’t know. It looks like Pretany had the original Franquese language, then all the people moved out.
It’s also interesting how the next largest Franquese-speaking area after Ataraxie (and maybe the bits and pieces of Franquese Pretany) is actually 6 countries located here. They are Tigeria (Partly), Unglend (Partly), Cote d’Or, Ferran, Broceliande, and my own Belice.
@LemonKing Ataraxian is a dialect of Franquese.

I think Meilan is actually closer to China.
We already have a “French Canada”: Bas-Chanceux of FSA (AR120-63).

I only think of Meilan and the other nations to be like mini-China colonies. I was thinking of a possible Qing Dynasty consituational China elsewhere.
