Sometimes when I was bored without a computer to do any mapping, I would plunge into other user’s diary entries (pardon for prying into those) to dig up at least some things which happened in OGF before I came into OGF.
I decided to compile all of such ‘significant’ events’ in OGF here, along with the supporting diary entries (the dates may be inaccurate).
Key milestones
- 1 September 2013: The launch of the OGF website (by Joschi81 and Thilo)
- 13 June 2013: Presentation of OGF at SotM-EU (video at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5Sk37V0IsB0)
- 22 June 2013: Introduction of ‘purple territories’
- 2 August 2014: Official introduction of OGF wiki
- 22 August 2014: Wishes answered for including images and slippy maps in wiki
- 25 October 2014: Shortening of waiting period for personal territories
- 15 November 2014: [Setting up of OGF:Embassies page] (http://api.opengeofiction.net/user/isle%C3%B1o/diary/134)
- 18 February 2015: New wiki main page launched by Luciano
- 2 June 2015: Introduction of OGN news website
- 7 June 2016: Launch of experimental user’s dashboard by Luciano
- 7 November 2015: Setting up of ‘War and Conflicts’ page
- 20 October-27 November 2015: Period of contients’ and oceans’ names’ elections
- 10 April 2016: Start of translation of About page into other languages
- 7 November 2016: Major collaboration discussion
- 4 March 2017: Official vs unofficial collobarative territories

- 19 April 2017: New iD launched
- 22 November 2017: Launch of WikiForum
This year (2018) will be OGF’s 5th anniversary. If there could be a suitable time for the grand opening of the western continents and/or AR120, it could be on 01/09/18. Anyway, I can’t believe OGF is turning 5 this year, and I hope for something special to happen this year.
Anyway, it is still slightly too early to take about OGF 2023. But I think we should soon think about the future of OGF soon.

It’s June 2014, not 2013.

Thanks for posting this. This helps give some context to OGF’s development.

I think it also gives us a few dates that we can use in our mapping that are like mini Easter eggs. It’s kind of like what Udi did with “node 1.” Imagine a bunch of streets and parks all across the map named for the founding or other key events. I think I could easily place a “Via 01 [September]” (once I come up with a word for that month).

First Harbor was where I first started on the 3rd or 4th of September, 2013. I update this park with significant dates and anniversaries.

I also add the date to the smaller parks or playgrounds around Gobras City.

It’s amazing how far we’ve come and how the community has grown.
I would like to add that I think the opening of the western continents ought to be postponed for as long as possible, seeing as there are still several territories available in all shapes and sizes. These territories cover all of the climates in the OGF world so a user claiming a new territory has plenty of existing options already.
Thank you for compiling this list! These are some important events to be noted.
