Two years in OGF

Posted by zhenkang on 14 November 2018 in English (English).

Yesterday, 13th November was the day I signed up for OGF. 2018 has been quite an eventful year for me, whether in OGF or in real life.

For starters, I had a brief amnesty back on the wiki, before getting banned again. I had fun, however, developing some content for Singkangia. Anyway, after my 2nd wiki ban, I decided to totally drop Singkangia, since it is pointless for me to continue what I don’t really enjoy, and moved on to the Pretanic Faction State, where I have greater fun developing the Briarmacks’ cult of personality, develop slums for the lower-class, and create Soviet-style neighbourhoods for the middle-class. (Hey, that is socialism to you!) It is fun collaborating with bhj867 as well, though he may not be active on PFS all the time, and also other mappers in the country.

What I have also done this year is to create a metro system for Antigo City, created some detailed forest covers, and other notable structures including the border city of Daulselon (meant to imitate Kaesong).

I have also grown closer with other mappers, such as oneofbeatlefan, developer of Wallea; TCC, guardian and fixer of various parts of Commonia (whom you better not argue with); Zekiel/Trombonist 2003, who has redone his capital multiple times and also doing other parts of Beaumontan (establishing Antigo-Beaumontan ties in the process), and other notable people which have also given sufficient guidance to my mapping and plans (e.g. Austinhuang, Eklas, Eretra, Ernestposcby, Stjur, Luciano etc). Also thanks to Eklas for the railway tutorial, to newbies designing railways, please read them!

What now, then? Well, I hope to map more in Antigo, before setting off to create a Chinese imperial empire maybe in May or June or even later next year, but it depends on the progress. Originally for collaboration, it has been advised otherwise, so I am thinking of just making it a personal territory or a joint ownership with others. Meanwhile, military bases are yet to be developed in Antigo, Kontronga needs development, and other fixes needed to the great glorious nation of Antigo.

Hopefully I get to see the opening of more blue nations/ purple nations, especially for former nations Mazan and Suria. It will be of interest to see how the region will be stabilised with PFS wrecking possible havoc.

All glory to the Briarmacks!

May God bless and may OGF continue marching on! (revoluntiary music plays)

Good thing I won’t overlap anything yet. Moving on:

zhenkang, I’ve been seeing your edits in PFS and how you mentioned TCC as guardian of Commonia. You are literally the guardian on PFS. I may not have been present during the time of Singkangia, but I believe it must have been extraordinary. 2 years is a really big time, in real life and OGF. Hopefully this map-making community will stay alive for many years to come…

-Sincerely, iiEarth

Congratulations on two years, Zk!

Yes, I’ve redone my capital and nation quite a few times, but I think I’m starting to settle on something (finally!). We can further develop ties, and I anticipate your Chinese empire; you’ve told me it would be relatively close to Beaumontan.

Anyways, congratulations on being here for two years, and may you continue a good career here in OGF!

Thanks,
Zekiel

Keep up the work for Motherland Comra… Nevermind. Congrats on your work. Happy Mapping. US Anthem

Really good to read about your progress. You’ve made some things quite pleasant to look at, which I aspire to create as well in about 2 years time.

I am looking forward to any possible interaction or cooperation between us, as I’ve applied for my own nation a few days ago (we remain patient :).

Congratulations. Hope you will stay here for another two years.

I like your work in Antigo and some aspects of previous work in Singkangia and I see the progress which you did in the former. Also nice photo.

As another two year old mapper (I joined the day before you) you seem to have achieved quite a lot this year. My only achievement on OGF this year was mapping Moratz, which isn’t even closed to finished

Comment from zhenkang on 15 November 2018 at 05:05

@P-byte well what nation have you applied for? Is it in Uletha? (Hopefully)

@Rustem Pasha Give your thanks to oneofbeatlefan, who helped me with the photoshop. (It is originally the Kims’ murals at Jangdae hill) I have more portraits of the Briarmacks elsewhere. What parts of Singkangia do you really enjoy?

@ilikemaps Well, everyone’s progress in OGF is different. For me, while some of my mapping has improved, I had barely started building a major city from scratch, well, unless you count Keppong, but that is a port.

@Zekiel it depends on admins’ mood, but hopefully this can pass, as I agreed not to make it collab.

Comment from iiEarth on 15 November 2018 at 05:45

@zhenkang Today I asked the admins if I could claim a country in Uletha. It is UL014.

Comment from Panzerbyte on 15 November 2018 at 09:09

@zhenkang I’ve applied for the archipelago of, indeed Uletha (:D) 303.

Comment from zhenkang on 15 November 2018 at 09:21

Oh I was actually thinking of claiming these islands as part of my future Pointochinkia project, but never mind; I can craft another set of islands simalr to these.

@Zhenkang I like places which can bust my imagination even if they have some technical shortcomings. The most interesting parts were some the neighbourhouds mapped in middle/high detail level which remained me the 70s in Polish architecture so I could imagine more than just a raw map. They were well planned and had natural feel. The disadvantages were streets with too small number of nodes and natural features.

Congrats on two years! I really like what you’re doing with the PFS, there’s a lot of really fascinating details scattered throughout. Like this seems ominous! Antigo is beautiful and oppressive, there’s a lot of character there. I can picture what it must look like. Great work!

Honestly that camp is bhj867’s work, it is not mine. But I am going to build camps like that soon.

Comment from bhj867 on 16 November 2018 at 21:07

I’m going to keep it honest. PFS would have not evolved into what it has become if it wasn’t for the work of Zhenkang, among many others who have contributed to the country. There is a still a lot of work to do. Keep up the good work everyone.
